to hate this weather?

Hate going out in it - am too hot, irritable and sweat is pouring within seconds.

Trying to do what shopping I need to first thing - not easy with 2 under 18 months - then staying indoors for the rest of the day.

So depressing.

Hate it too (except in the evenings when it cools down). Have to work outside with animals and it is hot, sticky, smelly, flies everywhere. I have Viking complexion so have to be covered in sun cream from early on. Get so ridiculously sweaty. Contemplating switching to Med times-getting up at sunrise to get jobs done, siesta during the hottest part of the day, then getting going again in the evening! It's fine if all you have to do is sit about in the shade, frolic in the pool etc but for people toiling away outside its a bloody nightmare! You'll never hear me complain about cold or even wet weather-if you get wet you can protect yourself with waterproofs, if you get too cold you can warm up by putting more clothes on, but if you get too hot you can't do anything once you have stripped right down. Sad

WeAllHaveWings · 24/07/2014 14:36

hate it!

I'm off work this week and had lots planned which isnt happening because it is too hot. Walked dog after 9pm last night and before 9am this morning as during the day is just tooo hot for me, I will be hiding indoors again today.

I am in Scotland and its only 26c, sympathy for those at 30c just now!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 24/07/2014 14:37

I'm just about ok but couldn't cope with it any hotter. I tend to very everything done very early when it's cooler and relax in the afternoon when it's hot. I never sit in the sun, always in the shade. I don't actively like hot weather,I love bright sunny says but not over 20 degrees and LOVE autumn.

I slept downstairs last night as it was coolerGrin

Freckletoes · 24/07/2014 14:38

confused really sympathetic towards you being heavily pregnant in this! But your theory doesn't fit with me-I was born in June and I'm a hot weather hater!!

TheFairyCaravan · 24/07/2014 14:38

I don't usually mind it when I have got nothing to do. But yesterday I had steroid injections into my back, which give me a "steroid flash" (like a day long hot flush) so I am boiling. But I am sat in my bikini, on a lounger while DH looks after me!

olivespickledonions · 24/07/2014 14:49

I refuse to get grumpy in this weather. I like bare feet, the variety of clothes I can wear, and the ease in which children can get dressed without worrying about coats and cardigans and jackets and socks. Shorts, t-shirts, flip-flops - done!

If I start to get hot and bothered I just remember myself freezing in the winter, and tramping round in the same bloody padded coat day after day, and snap right out of it!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 24/07/2014 14:59

Suncream is another reason to hate this weather. Disgusting stuff.

Coumarin · 24/07/2014 15:00

I'm an August baby so the theory doesn't work I'm afraid. I much prefer crisp Autumn days or breezy cool Spring ones.

Maybe it's when we were conceived that counts...

Coumarin · 24/07/2014 15:03

I prefer the Avene water spray btw. Especially for my face. I find the Magi cool ones too chemically. Although they are excellent for hot feet.

I'm outside in my garden right now in my bra and rolled up cotton pj bottoms. This weather kills any ideas of style, I may have, stone dead.

xXxLoLxXx · 24/07/2014 15:11

No need to take a jacket on a night out! What more could a girl ask for!

xxxLOLxxx

(first post hi all you Babes!)

HouseofEliot · 24/07/2014 16:12

I'm another August baby who hates the sun. Roll on cooler days it's an effort to do anything in this heat.

ilovesooty · 24/07/2014 16:19

January baby here who loves this weather even though I'm at work. I hate winter. My least favourite months are November and December.

Anotheronebitthedust · 24/07/2014 17:05

Yay I have found my people!

Hate not being able to do anything vaguely energetic (gym membership has completely lapsed this week), not being able to sleep, so feeling grumpy and exhausted, as well as smelly and sweaty, the awkwardness of finding clothes that are both cool but also smart/work appropriate, my crappy car that blasts out hot air in the name of air con... horrible!

Loving the 'helpful tips' people pass on too, like 'wear less/loose clothing,' or 'put on a fan' 'have a cool drink,' wow, really? Never would have thought of those ones!!! (not necessarily those mentioned above, just general 'advice' from sun lovers).

Coumarin · 24/07/2014 17:19

Yy to not being able to do anything. I have a new Jillian Michaels DVD waiting but the thought of even trotting up the stairs makes me want to pass out so that isn't happening. I need to do housework but it'll be like hoovering through soup.

I wish air conditioning in homes was standard. Like in America.

DH is in an air conditioned building all day. I've begged offered to swop jobs for the week.

phantomnamechanger · 24/07/2014 17:38

Another heat hater here. Sweaty and lethargic, house is like an oven at night.
20 degrees for summer would suit me just fine.
I can feel my skin drying and burning just standing out pegging laundry for 10 minutes.
I do like getting everything dry and lovely smelling though. We don't need it this hot for that!

MrsItsNoworNotatAll1 · 24/07/2014 17:44

Loving the Sunny, dry weather but the humidity can do one.

meltedmonterayjack · 24/07/2014 17:51

I like it but hate how I look in it. I've always had a weird thermostat but in these conditions after 15 mins walking or housework etc, I look like i've just stepped out the shower. Hair wringing wet and stuck to my head, sweat pouring down face, neck, chest etc. It's got worse since I hit the menopause even though I'm on HRT and honestly, I look like a beetroot who has just been in the bath!

OhFFSWhatsWrongNow · 24/07/2014 17:56

It's horrible when you are working in a day nursery which is 30 degrees, the babies are squealing because they're too hot, and sweat is running down my whole body because I'm running around like a blue arsed fly trying to make things better.

Not nice at all

ThePinkOcelot · 24/07/2014 18:01

YABVU!! It's not often we actually have a summer. Can't believe people are whinging on about. Only been like this for a couple of weeks, so another 50 weeks of shit weather doesn't add up!

GemmaTeller · 24/07/2014 18:06

Love love love it.

Montegomongoose · 24/07/2014 18:08

Horrible. And I was brought up in the tropics.

I bloody moved to Europe for the cool and shady pine-forest summers. Fresh and sparkling and a lovely refreshing breeze.

Am inside whimpering and thinking of replies to the next person who says 'ooh, isn't it hot? You must feel at home in this sun. Making the most of it, are you?' etc etc.

No, I'm not. I'm being slightly spiky in all verbal exchanges and wondering if I really would die if I got into the freezer.

deakymom · 24/07/2014 18:09

i like it but even im having difficulty keeping my bra on in this heat its so uncomfortable by the end of the day!

ShineSmile · 24/07/2014 18:10

I agree. It is way way too hot Sad

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 24/07/2014 18:11

Depends on your definition of shit weather really, I'd say we have about 40/52 weeks good weather, some too wet and some too hot and humid like now.

Viviennemary · 24/07/2014 18:13

I hate it too. My hair is a total mess despite being washed and blow dried only about five hours ago. The weekend can't come quick enough for me. I'm like a wilted lettuce.
