...have another baby?

Go with what your body tells you. If you are physically capable of conceiving you're not too old. Mothers of the children in our Reception class ranged from 24 - 50 . They were all very similar in terms of tiredness, energy levels and tolerance of CBeebies. If anything the older mums were more laid back.

stopgap · 10/07/2014 23:56

I had my children at 34 and 36, conceived naturally in a month both times, both healthy children, so I don't think it's too old for me.

McFox · 11/07/2014 00:01

I'm 39 in a few weeks and my gorgeous 4 week old DS - my first baby - is snuggled up beside me, so I would say yabu! Smile

teeththief · 11/07/2014 00:03

McFox that is lovely

Why are you asking, teeththief?

bellabelly · 11/07/2014 00:06

For what it's worth, I think 35 is a GREAT age to have another... Grin

Kasterborous · 11/07/2014 00:11

No YANBU at least I hope not as I was four months off 40 when DD was born (not through choice to have one that 'late').

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 11/07/2014 00:14

As I didn't have mine till I was 36 and 38 YABU.

makingdoo · 11/07/2014 00:34

Oh god I hope not.

I'm 35 this year and we are still trying for our first! Having IVF but really hoping for a miracle this year.
Happy to hear of so many of you having babies in your late 30's and early 40's!

appealtakingovermylife · 11/07/2014 00:39

My friend had twins the day after her 41st birthday:)
She has 2 dds, 22 and 16 and ds is 4.
Admittedly, she's finding it hard.
There is no right or wrong age:)

NickiFury · 11/07/2014 00:52

Of course it isn't. I am older than that and would happily have another (if there was a suitable candidate to father it).

Purplefrogshoes · 11/07/2014 01:00

Yabu

dawndonnaagain · 11/07/2014 01:05

One at 26, one at 36 and twin dds at 37. So, no.

Ludoole · 11/07/2014 01:09

Its all about personal choice.
My personal cutoff was 36 but now at 38 id love another child. Wont happen though as I now have 2 ill elderly parents, an ill long term bf (currently awaiting test results) and raising my 11 and 14yo ds' s Sad

pigsDOfly · 11/07/2014 01:17

Had my youngest at 38. Didn't feel I was too old.

My mother was 40 when she had me and her mother was 42 when my mother, her youngest, was born. Perhaps we're just a family of elderly mothers though.

I've know plenty of women in their 40's having first children. I really don't think it's unusual.

Bogeyface · 11/07/2014 01:20

Had my oldest at 17, my youngest at 38 (and one day, thought she was coming on my birthday!). I have 6 altogether.

Older is definitely wiser with babies! I would have another one tomorrow if money was no issue :)

Bogeyface · 11/07/2014 01:22

eldest not oldest!

FloatIsRechargedNow · 11/07/2014 01:58

35 is too old for anything - it is now the new 18. So have your babster and then when you're 70 or whatever claim to be the
new 40.

Don't mean to sound rude, just joking around...in the late night hours.

Of course 35 is not old to have a baby ( but I might get concerned if you get a Wendy House that you won't let anyone else play in)

AggressiveBunting · 11/07/2014 03:18

This is one of those questions that no-one can answer for you. I had my two at 35 and 37 but I'm 39 now and wouldn't want any more. That's not to say that I do t think other people should do it. It's just how I feel. One of my closest friends is trying for her third and has said if she's not pregnant by 33 she'll call it a day. Another is due with her third when she's 41. Horses for courses. So much depends on how you see the rest of your life mapping out.

Coughle · 11/07/2014 03:25

Had first at 34, second at 36 and the only thing stopping me from having 2 or 3 more is finances! Take age out of the equation, how would you and dh feel then?

NancyinCali · 11/07/2014 04:16

I turn 35 at the weekend and DD2 due in 2 weeks. DH is 40. Not too old at all Smile

chrome100 · 11/07/2014 04:42

I'm 33 and childless. I don't think I'll have kids as I think I'm too old.

partialderivative · 11/07/2014 04:42

On the brink. Yes, go for it.

But then, that's just my opinion.

It seems that a lot of the previous posters have been in that boat and survived very happily. However, please don't take this thread as a random sample.

MammaTJ · 11/07/2014 04:45

I had my 2nd at 37 and my 3rd and last at 39!

I wasn't too old.

londonkiwi · 11/07/2014 04:52

I am 35 and 33 weeks pregnant with my third. This has been my easiest pregnancy - less morning sickness and general aches/pains, despite having a 6 and 3 year old to look after. So I don't think it's too old!
