oooh, zombie thread - i wonder if the OP had a baby?

GrumpyOldBag · 02/03/2016 19:18

Of course not. I had my first at 35 and 2nd at 38. Perfectly normal in my circle of friends. Know others who had dc at 40+. My DC are now teenagers and all fine.

TheEmmaDilemma · 02/03/2016 19:21

Aghh missed it was zombie. And I meant YANBU.

PermaShattered · 02/03/2016 19:29

I was 41 one when i had no 4 (my youngest). Last year I had to battle with myself about having just one more.... Cherie Blair was 46 :)

PermaShattered · 02/03/2016 19:30

... in fact, if space wasn't an issue I would have just one more. I don't consider myself old...

JugglingFromHereToThere · 02/03/2016 19:33

I think perhaps she didn't have another LEM - something a PP said about it didn't work out.
Of course it's an interesting thing generally, I had my two relatively late

NippsyNora · 02/03/2016 19:33

I'm 38 and just had my first....

angielou123 · 02/03/2016 19:37

No way! I had 1 at 16, 1 at 17, 1 at 33 and 1 at 38. Im 40 now and not ruling out another!

thisagain · 02/03/2016 19:49

I had 2 DD's aged 16 and 8 when I had my third child 5 years ago - when I was 41. 35 to me now seems young. He was unplanned but we are always saying how lucky we are to have him and how different our lives would be!! If you want another baby and can have one, why not.

Incidentally, my friend was brought up by her nan and I used to think how sad it was that her nan would die sooner than a younger parent. In the end, my mum died at 60 and her nan seemed to live forever, so now I don't worry about it as there are no guarantees in life!

TurquoiseDress · 02/03/2016 19:51

No definitely not too old, in my opinion!

I only had my first aged 35

If you have medical reasons why another pregnancy or young child would be too much to cope with, that's another matter.

Having a small child is exhausting at any age!

teeththief · 02/03/2016 19:58

No I didn't! After a couple of miscarriages we decided to stop trying

Yes YABU. I had my first at 34 and 2nd at 36. I personally feel too old now at 42 to have another, but know of people who had their first at 42.

Leigh1980 · 02/03/2016 20:02

I'm 36 and still trying to figure out if I want a first baby at all lol.

jamhot · 02/03/2016 20:07

Teeththief I am sorry to learn of your losses. Flowers

Owllady · 02/03/2016 21:16

Twig45 · 03/04/2016 19:44

I wish I had managed to start at 35 but I had mine at 39,40 and 43 and only feel a bit old in the school playground would love a 4th but at 45 now feel too old for a new born

Italiangreyhound · 03/04/2016 23:10

Yabu

AuntieMeemz · 12/04/2016 22:07

Tee hee, (. . NOT through choice, but) I was 41 with no1, 43 with no2 and 45 with no3. - Is it hard? no, we wanted it so much, and I think bringing up children at any age is challenging. DH and I are not super fit sporty types, but we do more ice-skating,camping, swimming, bike ridiing and ski-ing than most people our age, , it has made us incredibly happy (well most of the time). If it's right for you, it's right for you.

AuntieMeemz · 12/04/2016 22:13

Twig45, I used to feel old in the school playground too. I keep my hair dyed in a hope to distract attention from my age.

AuntieMeemz · 12/04/2016 22:16

It has changed our outlook on life. By far the best memory last year was sitting with our children at our cliff to campsite, watching the sun set over the sea...of course they had to then get connected to their DS's and Kindles straight after, but that's life!

RubyGoat · 12/04/2016 22:17

ZOMBIE THREAD!

BastardGoDarkly · 12/04/2016 22:17

Awwww Teeth sorry to read that Flowers

teta · 12/04/2016 22:44

No.
I had my first at 35,2nd and 3rd at 40 and 4th at 42.

IcingandSlicing · 20/04/2016 18:40

It depends when you've started.
If you started having kids after 30 (like a very large number of women these days) 35 is perfectly fine. It's ok if it will be your first child too for me, but the last limit. You can have healthy kids even in early firties, so, I don't think it's too late.

But if you already have let's say two teenagers and want to move on from child rearing and focus on something else, it's entirely your decision.

Isaidboomboomboom · 20/04/2016 18:46

I had DD at 28 and started trying for dc2 at 32. Kept having mc and said I would stop trying at 35. Then 36. Then 37.....! Am nearly 38 and expecting ds1 now. Think it depends how strong the urge is....!! X
