AIBU?

AIBU to think this is the best section on MN?

Why do people keep moaning about it? - I love it!

If you don't like it hide the bleedin' thing, or even easier, just don't read any of the threads - there's 100's of other sections to moan about!

Well, it's definitely not what it used to be, given the new nastiness. And of course there must be posters who like it like that.

I think there was always a nasty streak running through MN, though. Maybe it's worse now but I have encountered some horrors on here over the past few years, including someone who told me to 'fuck off and have your own kids' when I posted on a thread about surrogacy. Not only did the poster have no idea whether or not I had children, she had no idea whether I was unable to have them, had miscarried, was TTC or anything.
There are a few people like that who really stand out in your mind.

There are nasty posters everywhere, they don't frequent AIBU any more than any do any other boards. I'm getting fed up with the same old posters popping onto AIBU to say how terrible AIBU is... Why would you do that? It's like stuffing your feet into shoes three sizes too small, complaining about the painful blisters... and then doing the same thing the next day. Confused

Stop with the namecalling of posters too. They aren't 'cunts' just because you say they are. It's pretty 'cuntish' - and cowardly - to generalise on a thread. If you don't like something a poster says then tell them, discuss it, or report it. Hmm

Are we not allowed to call people cunts now? What else am I meant to call my friends? Confused

There are some cunts on AIBU. There are lovely, funny, interesting posters who make it worthwhile coming on here and putting up with the cunts.

Thing is, if you're someone like me, there really isn't anywhere else to hang out - my youngest is 14 so the whole pregnacy & baby stuff is long gone, I haven't got any ( major ) relationship problems, I'm not interested in gardening or style & beauty ( I know what's stylish ) & talking about my cat isn't exactly exciting. The only other section I'd be interested in is feminism, but it kicks off over there apparently ( plus I'm not intelligent enough for FWR ) so that just leaves AIBU which is great as it's so varied & interesting.

I go where I like, and I use the topics and chat.

I think AIBU does appeal to the egotistical a bit. Some posters simply want volume. It's an attention thing I guess.

Isn't EVERYTHING that ANYBODY posts about getting attention though?

I see nice posters everywhere... no dementors or at least, not many.

shakethetree · 10/07/2014 17:58

Every person who starts a thread on MN has started it for attention - isn't that the point?

Mega lulz at being told off for using the word cunt on AIBU.

Evers.

It wouldn't be as lively, & the people who constantly moan about AIBU would moan about chat instead.

Yes, I could handle the arguments in my head, I just wouldn't be able to say anything ( I don't know enough big words )

Some days I love AIBU other days I loath it.

I don't post very often, mainly because I feel drowned out. Every now and again I have a verbal explosion, get frustrated and crawl back under my virtual stone for a while to calm down.

A bit like RL, I guess.

Alright to call children that then, Devere? Posters can't cope with them being called 'spoiled', or 'brats' or 'little shits'. After all, they're just 'cunts-in-training' no? Fellow posters though, fine to call them whatever you like. It doesn't work quite like that.

It's a horrible word and the namecalling is horrendous. Do it if you want, you're an adult, nobody's 'telling you off'.

I love it. Makes me laugh. Some other boards are so darn serious.
