Apologies for the daily mail link and apologies if its already been done, I did have a quick look and couldn't see anything.

An old work friend posted the video of this on Facebook last night and it is horrendous... (And this absolutely doesn't excuse it) but she thought she was doing it for a holiday, but it turned out to be for a drink.

I feel so sorry for her parents (and for her actually)..

I think the rep who organised this 'game' should face prosecution...

Most people feel sorry for her I think, not many have blamed her..?

OP posts:
sanfairyanne · 04/07/2014 13:16

and only 18?

my heart breaks for her to be honest. how awful

NickNacks · 04/07/2014 13:18

^NickNacks
What would you prosecute them for?^

Well, I'm not an expert on the law in Spain but I think indulging in sexual activity in public is illegal isn't it? Perhaps nightclubs get special dispensation but I'd be surprised if this is the case other than for paid performers.

This would mean the woman and men involved would be prosecuted but OP is suggesting that the rep is prosecuted. I just wondered what law he/she could be prosecuted under. Agree with you high, I think it's vile.

ziggiestardust · 04/07/2014 13:20

Yes I think a lot people do feel sorry for her.

A lot more have judged though, or called her a slapper or what have you on various websites (the story is on websites, not the video). Not much mention of the men, responsibility on behalf of the reps... It's abysmal.

curiousgeorgie · 04/07/2014 13:21

Ziggie I agree, I meant on this thread.

"I'm not going to watch it but if it's right that she was so drunk she was stumbling I question if she was able to consent. A group of men doing sex acts on a woman unable to consent is rape, not being "slaggy" - woman hating term of itself."

She was hopping from man to man performing sex acts on THEM. Given the environment the men may well have been blind drunk as well, perhaps she raped them?

morethanpotatoprints · 04/07/2014 13:24

does misrepresentation lead to prosecution?
Inciting lude behaviour etc.

I feel really sorry for the girl as at 18 she was probably very naïve to begin with, but what on earth possessed her to do such a thing, even if there was a free holiday involved?

emms1981 · 04/07/2014 13:24

I have 0 sympathy for her, disgusting !

shakethetree · 04/07/2014 13:32

EE, Has she reported 24 acts of sexual assault? I thought her only issue was getting a free drink & not a holiday? - & the men were probably half drunk too, & they're all someone's son who could now be charged with rape - they're all as bad as each other but all I know is a lot of young men would have joined in - as I said, they were probably drunk too. The worst people were the ones filming it.

curiousgeorgie · 04/07/2014 13:33

Emms - really? You don't think they completely took advantage of a very young, very drunk woman? They completely tricked and misled her too?

PhaedraIsMyName · 04/07/2014 13:36

People get drunk, it's not a free pass to exploit them or humiliate them

^ with a whole cathedral peal of bells on.

In Scotland the bar owners would have committed a serious breach of their licence conditions, could be guilty of knowingly allowing drunkenness and disorderly conduct and possibly a breach of the peace. The licencing rules are similar in England.

It is a criminal offence to sell alcohol to a person who is drunk or to provide alcohol.

For all of you expressing contempt for her or saying she got what she deserved or she's a slut-shame on you. You are disgraceful. Alcohol lowers inhibitions. And shame on anyone who stood by and did nothing to stop it.

waterducksback · 04/07/2014 13:40

Even though I feel sorry for this girl, and her family, there's also a part of me that thinks -
Even when blind drunk, most girls wouldn't agree to give a load of men a BJ's for a free holiday.
It takes a certain type of 'personality' to do that, surely.
I agree that the men involved were just as bad .

Theredoes seem to be a new 'level' of depravity that exists amongst this age group on holiday (compared to when me and my mates used to go away together) and it's worrying.

Yes, we used to get up to stuff that our parents would probably have been ashamed of it they had known, but it was more innocent somehow.

Some of these girls and boys seem to have stooped REALLY low with their behaviour. They don't seem to have any shame or sense of decency.

And the Reps (or people that own these clubs) that encourage them, SHOULD be prosecuted.

ziggiestardust · 04/07/2014 13:52

phaedra I could not agree more.

lougle · 04/07/2014 13:54

I think it's a bit of a leap to assume that these men were sexually assaulting a woman who offers them oral sex, tbh. The rep was totally irresponsible and took advantage of the girl. The men may well have been as drunk as she was. Ideally, a friend would have stopped her. Ideally, bystanders would have stopped her. Ideally, the bar manager would have stopped her. But there does have to be a level of personal responsibility.

If she'd been just as drunk but decided to drive a car instead and knocked someone down, nobody would be saying she was too drunk to be responsible for her actions. Why the double standards?

Mintyy · 04/07/2014 13:55

"For all of you expressing contempt for her or saying she got what she deserved or she's a slut-shame on you. You are disgraceful."

I must have missed that on this thread Confused.

rpitchfo · 04/07/2014 14:06

The girl is extremely vunerable. But so are the men taking part to a lesser extent:

They are all drunk
They're in a very high pressure envirpnement
According to reports the girl was running round gathering men saying "you can win me a holiday!"
They face ridicule if they don't participate.

The entire thing is sad and depressing. It's the shameful
Culture of "alcohol, sex and a lack of responsibility" personified in one act.

I don't think te root cause of the problem lies with the young people caught up in this affair.

PeppermintInfusion · 04/07/2014 14:10

The DMail are asking for people who know her to contact them Angry I think that's utterly abhorrent!
Also apparently some of the Geordie Shore cast were there, which probably encouraged the situation- they've done similar things on their show.
It was organised by Carnage pub crawls who seem to thrive on bad publicity!

SignYourName · 04/07/2014 14:11

If she'd been just as drunk but decided to drive a car instead and knocked someone down, nobody would be saying she was too drunk to be responsible for her actions. Why the double standards?

Because it is unequivocally against the law to drive a car while drunk. It is not against the law to perform oral sex on a group of men. It might not be great judgement, but it isn't illegal. It is illegal - in this country, anyway - to have sex with or perform sex acts on someone who is too drunk to consent. In the first instance you are the perpetrator because you would be responsible for any harm that resulted, in the second you are the victim because you are on the receiving end of the harm.

Bambambini · 04/07/2014 14:14

I really don't understand why this is "news" and why there is a need to destroy and humiliate this girl whether she was willing or drunk.

This was going on in Benidorm in the 80's - I hated the sleaziness of it but it ended there and you didn't have it splashed round the world causing unnecessary hurt and humiliation. I worry for my young kids with this new world of Internet media etc - they have no idea how damaging it can be.

shakethetree · 04/07/2014 14:15

I don't feel sorry for her in the slightest. I just hope my ds has the sense to not touch a woman like that with a barge pole.

shakethetree · 04/07/2014 14:16

Yep, I saw stuff like that going on when I was in Magaluf 25 years ago.

curiousgeorgie · 04/07/2014 14:18

Apparently she's 21 actually, not 18..

OP posts:
PeppermintInfusion · 04/07/2014 14:19

It is just so wrong on so many levels-
That the girl was so drunk she ended up in this situation (being drunk is not an excuse for taking advantage of her though)
That if she did this willingly that her self esteem must be non existent to seek validation this way
That her friends did not stop her
That the bar let this go ahead
That 24 men did not think this was wrong (the 25th guy was the Geordie Shore person, he just walked away)
That the reps thought this up and encouraged it
That a crowd watched and filmed it
That nobody intervened

TucsonGirl · 04/07/2014 14:19

I remember stuff like this but it was always more suggestive, pretending to perform oral sex on a carrot, simulating sex on stage (while fully clothed) etc. I think the main difference though is the fact that it's being filmed and posted on the internet for posterity. If she'd done the same thing and it hadn't been filmed it'd just be something embarassing from her past, as it is now it could potentially ruin her life.

tethersend · 04/07/2014 14:25

People in this situation who disgust me:

  1. The rep
  2. The men involved
  3. The bystanders
  4. Everyone using misogynistic terms to further humiliate this teenager
  5. The Daily Mail for exploiting her even further

That's it.
