Tonight's repeat of Benidorm which features Les singing on the karaoke.....Rolf Harris Two little boys Shock.

It wasn't brief either he is singing the whole bloody song!

Yes,you are being silly. What a ludicrous overreaction.

OatcakeCravings · 01/07/2014 22:20

YABU.

DottyDooRidesAgain · 01/07/2014 22:21

Yes,you are being silly. What a ludicrous overreaction.

It's not like I have phoned up and complained ffs

I posted on a bloody forum.

Koothrapanties · 01/07/2014 22:22

It was obviously an oversight, but I can understand why it was not nice for you. It must bring to mind all the horrible things he has just been found guilty of. I think the stomach churning was probably to do with that rather than the song itself?

I think Yabu for thinking they shouldn't have played it on itv, but yanbu for your stomach churimg at the thought of the bloke and what he has done.

DoJo · 01/07/2014 22:23

You can't erase someone from popular culture because they turn out to be a criminal, no matter how reprehensible their crimes.

AnyoneForTennis · 01/07/2014 22:25

Well what were you hoping for? MN to pick it up and run to itv mob handed to complain.... With you at the healm? Maybe making the news like biscuit gate??

It's just a song!

gointothewoods · 01/07/2014 22:25

So every time you hear a catholic hymn like Ave Maria, does your stomach churn because of multiple abuses by the catholic church?
Duh

DottyDooRidesAgain · 01/07/2014 22:26

I think it was also the timing. The only reason he has been mentioned anywhere these last few weeks was due to the horrid crimes he committed. Hearing him referred to as 'great' a day after his guilty verdict made me a little Shock

OP posts:
DottyDooRidesAgain · 01/07/2014 22:27

No Anyone and no point did I even suggest that stop being dramatic.

OP posts:
FiveFingerDeathPunch · 01/07/2014 22:27

yabu
yep really

DottyDooRidesAgain · 01/07/2014 22:28

You're about 8 posts too late Five I have already agreed that IABU.

OP posts:
Mrsjayy · 01/07/2014 22:30

Oh I guess it was an oversight they probably didn't realise in the schedule its a bit off yanbu but I dont think it was deliberate,

AnyoneForTennis · 01/07/2014 22:30

Me being dramatic?? Lol.... Hmm

AnyFucker · 01/07/2014 22:30

Dotty, I don't reckon anyone who scheduled the programmed realised or remembered the RH sequence

Just unfortunate timing. If you have reason to feel affected by it though, I think there is probably a good reason

Some people are finding the whole Savile/Harris/Clifford/Watkins/Glitter/Hall/King convictions very triggering and I don't think it is on to ridicule them, tbh

AnyFucker · 01/07/2014 22:31

I meant to add etc etc to the end of that list which is by no means exhaustive. Those are just the ones in the front of my memory over the last few years.

Isabeller · 01/07/2014 22:32

It's very understandable you felt shocked and upset and other people might have done too but it was very unlikely to have been deliberate and as another poster pointed out was not written by the person who made it well known most recently.

So YABU about ITV but YANBU to be feeling upset and sensitive in the wake of the Rolf Harris verdict.

Isabeller · 01/07/2014 22:33

What AF said (more to the point as usual)

Mrsjayy · 01/07/2014 22:33

Af you sre right these men did terrible things nobody has the right to say the op or anybody how they should react,

Waltermittythesequel · 01/07/2014 22:34

Ffs she only asked if she was being U.

No need for the barrage of sarcasm, is there?

As AF says, these events could be and have been extremely difficult for some people.

If you think she is BU, fair enough.

But the one-upmanship of snarky comments is a bit much is it not?

DottyDooRidesAgain · 01/07/2014 22:34

It is my fault for posting on AIBU AF not something I normally do but I honestly didn't expect such a nasty reaction.
Completely prepared to be told IABU but not along with the sarcastic, snipey and nasty comments.

Serves me right for being affected by it I suppose. Should just get a grip Smile

Somebody needs to hand me a grip or a biscuit. ( I prefer biscuits Grin)

redwinerequired · 01/07/2014 22:36

I think you're getting a bit of an unnecessary pasting OP. Although I would think it was an oversight I also think it should be edited in some way the future as people are not going to want to hear him singing it. Gary Glitter music is no longer played for example.

AnyFucker · 01/07/2014 22:37

I was watching the programme with my H and we both raised an eyebrow when the song came on.

Mrsjayy · 01/07/2014 22:37

You know people willhave noticed and probably complained to itv about it, you wont have been the only one with their mouth opened in shock op

siamesekittensatplay · 01/07/2014 22:37

After Jame Bulger went missing years ago, an episode of arm Bean was rescheduled as it showed Rowan Atkinson taking a baby from a pushchair and was deemed inappropriate.

That was the whole show, though - not sure if they could have edited the song alone out.

siamesekittensatplay · 01/07/2014 22:38

Sorry about autocorrect Blush

*James
*arm = Mr Hmm
