Rolf Harris Friday can't come soon enough

It makes my skin crawl that if he has come back to his home whilst awaiting sentencing on Friday that he can stroll around our local town. Ffs he has been found guilty of major child abuse crimes.
Why don't judges just remand these sick bastards until passing sentence. He normally goes to our local Supermarket hopefully he will not show his face around town.He is a known personality and now he is a known child abuser.
Hopefully the judge will give him a long deserved sentance.

Yanbu.

atticusclaw · 01/07/2014 14:03

I shouldn't imagine he's going to be wandering around the supermarket

LayMeDown · 01/07/2014 14:05

You may have to brace yourself for the fact he might not get a custodial sentence. He may be wandering around your town after Friday

STOPwiththehahaheheloling · 01/07/2014 14:06

I have never heard of this. There is a rolf harris friday where he goes to a supermarket? And what does he do? Pose for photos/sign autographs? Is it like freedom of the city tupe thing?

STOPwiththehahaheheloling · 01/07/2014 14:08

Apologies- i have completely misunderstood the title. I see what you mean OP. his sentencing is to be on friday but he is free to roam your town til then?

Sallyingforth · 01/07/2014 14:10

Have to admit I was taken by Harris - he seemed genuinely 'nice' - unlike Savile who always looked creepy.

Fatteningviolet · 01/07/2014 14:12

STOP that is naughty!!! But very funny. Reminds me of Frasier Crane day!

STOPwiththehahaheheloling · 01/07/2014 14:15
Blush

Really sorry- i got that all wrong didnt I. I asuned it was some 'award' type thing he had been given. Like his own day to celebrate the life of him. Sorry!

glasgowstevenagain · 01/07/2014 14:17

He will live in fear for the rest of his days

I doubt he will walk round his local town in fear.

His poor wife will though be the brunt of whispers and contempt - shame

CateBlanket · 01/07/2014 14:18

Why was he given bail and not remanded in custody (is that the term?) whilst awaiting sentencing?

dancestomyowntune · 01/07/2014 14:19

I wouldn't worry too much about bumping into him in the supermarket. The likelihood of him being out and about is pretty slim with the press camped out on his doorstep. He's public enemy number 1 right now.

IscreamUscream · 01/07/2014 14:19

Just don't see why he is out on bail considering the nature of his crimes. I'd rather a child abuser was not free to roam around town awaiting sentance the dirty old bastard.

Hairylegs47 · 01/07/2014 14:20

At least you know what he looks like. I doubt anyone will be trying to be seen anywhere near him.

Daisymasie · 01/07/2014 14:21

I'd imagine he's basically a prisoner in his own home - with the almost sure knowledge of a prison sentence hanging over him.
I honestly don't think he'll be strolling around the supermarket.

grovel · 01/07/2014 14:21

He might just go for one last meal at the Fat Duck.

LaurieFairyCake · 01/07/2014 14:22

Grin Stop - I know it was unintentional but that faux pas made me laugh out loud - very macabre sense of humour

STOPwiththehahaheheloling · 01/07/2014 14:23

Laurie!! Grin

AgaPanthers · 01/07/2014 14:23

Grovel: probably wouldn't get a table any more.

glasgowstevenagain · 01/07/2014 14:23

Jokes about child abuse *(or a child abuser) on MN :(

glasgowstevenagain · 01/07/2014 14:24

Why was he given bail and not remanded in custody (is that the term?) whilst awaiting sentencing?

Because he is not seen to be a danger of re offending or of flight

STOPwiththehahaheheloling · 01/07/2014 14:24

I'm stupid really- if there was a rolf harris friday surely they would have retracted the honour given the guilty verdict? Wouldnt they?

Gruntfuttock · 01/07/2014 14:24

I wonder if his wife is still grinning inanely, like she was in every photo of her outside the court. Anyone would think she was accompanying him to an award ceremony!

STOPwiththehahaheheloling · 01/07/2014 14:25

Glasgow i can assure you i wasnt making any joke. I completely misunderstood the thread title. I have explained this.

Madamecastafiore · 01/07/2014 14:25

We are debating what to do with one of his bloody paintings. It's hung in the kids den ironically. DH was hoping he would die and it would be worth more. Just hoping he will die now.

I do feel sad. I used to love the show where he would draw before showing cartoons.

Just shows they'd are everywhere and how far they will go.

LaurieFairyCake · 01/07/2014 14:26

glasgow - that wasn't a joke about child abuse or a child abuser, it was a joke about Stop making a faux pas.
