Rolf Harris Friday can't come soon enough

It makes my skin crawl that if he has come back to his home whilst awaiting sentencing on Friday that he can stroll around our local town. Ffs he has been found guilty of major child abuse crimes.
Why don't judges just remand these sick bastards until passing sentence. He normally goes to our local Supermarket hopefully he will not show his face around town.He is a known personality and now he is a known child abuser.
Hopefully the judge will give him a long deserved sentance.

I wouldn't feel sorry for his wife somehow.

Madamecastafiore · 01/07/2014 14:28

He is out on bail because he used his celebrity and trust built up over time as well to abuse people. And he is a well known face so no chance of him being able to do it now.

If he was an opportunistic sex attacker who dragged people off of the street it would be different.

beccajoh · 01/07/2014 14:29

The judge asked for a medical report, so there's a possibility he might not go to prison.

IscreamUscream · 01/07/2014 14:33

He should have been made an example of because he is a celeb and the abuse historic the judge should have remanded him. Why let him have Bail for the sake of a few days it's ridiculous. I will certainly have a few choice words for him if he did venture into town!

Becca- we can only hope that the judge is doing that so it's not an appealable point if he doesn't - iyswim. Hall went to prison - similar age, fraility etc. I have no sympathy whatever for his wife and even less for his daughter. Of course I don't know how I would react if it was my father/ husband. But I'm sure I wouldn't have played a role in trying to get the public sympathy vote. You can be supportive in other ways if you feel you should without playing to the press gallery

glasgowstevenagain · 01/07/2014 14:39

Lets assume his wife never knew.

Lets assume he told his wife he was innocent.

Why would she not believe him.....

I feel sympathy for her

AgaPanthers · 01/07/2014 14:42

I wouldn't sell the painting now, you will get a poor price as everyone else will be doing the same.

I bet the owner of this is feeling a bit stupid now. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lincolnshire-20318645

bigdog888 · 01/07/2014 14:46

What is Rolf Harris Friday? Sounds like a day to keep your daughters inside! Maybe you're missing some punctuation from your title!?

nyzz · 01/07/2014 14:47

I do feel sympathy for the wife and daughter but did find their daily grinning show a bit OTT and almost disrespectful.

If a number of women had come forward and were all saying similar things about my husband, I think I would also be thinking no smoke without fire.

Gruntfuttock · 01/07/2014 14:53

If I thought my husband was innocent I would be upset and angry that he was being put on trial for such horrific crimes and therefore would not grin. If I thought he was, or might be, guilty I would not be grinning, for very obvious reasons. That's why I was sick of seeing his wife grinning widely in every photo outside the court. It was completely inappropriate and jarring.

HeeHiles · 01/07/2014 14:57

Stop I can't stop laughing :-) that was hilarious thank you!!

A lawyer said on the radio that RH age would be taken into consideration regarding his sentence, just a pity RH didn't consider the ages of the children he abused :-(

glasgowstevenagain · 01/07/2014 14:58

Never saw the grinning pictures.

Maybe she is just a nervous old lady

RockandRollsuicide · 01/07/2014 15:05

stop Grin do any celebs get Special days where they celebrate themselves...

Yes they would have re retracted the honour, but even before trial I do not think he would have enough fans esp locally to set up a table to do signings etc.

He commented on my DD once when out and about, at the time I thought sweet...now I think leery old bastard.

Its a shocker. He has however ruined peoples lives and I have a horrid feeling his tariff will not reflect this.

over all I wish and pray we would get far tougher on child abusers.

There was story in paper the other day about notorious pedo walking free again after getting children into house despite ban. Our laws dont seem to take it seriously.

RockandRollsuicide · 01/07/2014 15:07

bourdic

cruel, they are victims too, this poor girl already self harmed and had suicide attempt when she found out...this man is her blood her father, part of her, one cannot imagine how she feels right now, nor his poor wife.

IscreamUscream · 01/07/2014 15:07

My only sympathy is with all who he abused. As for his wife I thought that plaited hair with beads went out in the 80's.

fatlazymummy · 01/07/2014 15:14

I don't feel sorry for his wife at all, seeing as he basically admitted it near the beginning of the trial.

WowserBowser · 01/07/2014 15:14

The whole situation is so awful.

But i can't stop laughing at STOP's confusion over Rolf Harris day.

ComposHat · 01/07/2014 15:18

This woman has found out her husband abused young women and girls, has had to endure having it exposed in a courtroom, along with having his infidelities laid bare for all to see. In the face of evidence to the contrary, I assume that he told his wife and daughter (who has suffered more) that he was innocent. They will now have to live with the legacy, the comments in the street, the comments on the internet. As a dispassionate observer we can see as the evidence mounted up that Rolf Harris's claims of innocence weren't realistic, but I can see why close family members would be desperate to see him as innocent, especially if he was feeding them a line.

Their suffering doesn't come close to that of his victims, but to start making spiteful and bitchy comments at a moment like this is pretty low.

LastTango · 01/07/2014 15:23

Stop being bitchy. Absolutely no need to turn on her. You've said what you want to about HIM, but leave HER alone.

My sympathy is for his victims. I include his wife and daughter amongst them. They are not to blame for his actions, he is.

nicename · 01/07/2014 15:36

I think leaving to the tender mercies of his 'D'W is entirely appropriate. What would you do with such a 'D'H?

It really does make you think twice when your kids spot some famous bod and they want to go and say hello.

IscreamUscream · 01/07/2014 15:44

Bindi gave evidence in her fathers support claiming that her friend told her the sexual relationship began once she was over eighteen.
The friend of Bindi was a teenager having sex with her father surely that isn't right when he was married to her mother at the time. My apologies for the comment of his wife it was just a jokey observation as with the Rolf Hartis day comments. All in all sexual abuse is not a joking matter and I hope that those affected can piece back their lives together and justice is served for his sentencing on Friday.

Andrewofgg · 01/07/2014 15:47

I wonder if the judge gave him these few days so that he has the option of topping himself rather than start a long sentence as a noncer at 84.

nicename · 01/07/2014 15:48

I would doubt anything he had to say if he was my dad and hed been bonking my friend (and was married to my mum). I would never speak to him again.
