Rolf Harris Friday can't come soon enough

It makes my skin crawl that if he has come back to his home whilst awaiting sentencing on Friday that he can stroll around our local town. Ffs he has been found guilty of major child abuse crimes.
Why don't judges just remand these sick bastards until passing sentence. He normally goes to our local Supermarket hopefully he will not show his face around town.He is a known personality and now he is a known child abuser.
Hopefully the judge will give him a long deserved sentance.

Andrew That's a real possibility, shouldn't get the opportunity for a coward's way out though!

RockandRollsuicide · 01/07/2014 15:54

Those affected include his wife and daughter.

IscreamUscream · 01/07/2014 16:00

He will probably only get eight years and only do half that so out in four because they will take his age into consideration.
Let's hope once inside prison he can't draw his way out of trouble in there.
I take it that him, his wife and daughter all live in the same house together. Interesting Dinner time talking at the table as to what the daughter was going to say in giving evidence between him and daughter they probably cooked up a story of his innocence. Luckily the court saw through it.

ComposHat well said
I find the comments on mn about his wife and daughter weird. they were not on trial, but will have to live with what he did, and how the hell do we know how near home the abuse was.

ComposHat · 01/07/2014 16:01

Oh unless you are a victim or a friend/close relative of a victim, whom I can understand being delighted their abuser got their comeuppance, rubbing your hand together with ill concealed glee is nothing more than voyeurism.

EarthWindFire · 01/07/2014 16:01

cruel, they are victims too, this poor girl already self harmed and had suicide attempt when she found out...this man is her blood her father, part of her, one cannot imagine how she feels right now, nor his poor wife.

I agree. They are not guilty by association!

They may very well be hounded for the rest of their lives for something that her father/husband did.

EarthWindFire · 01/07/2014 16:04

Interesting Dinner time talking at the table as to what the daughter was going to say in giving evidence between him and daughter they probably cooked up a story of his innocence.

Do you have proof that this is the case or just idle gossip that has no foundation?

GirlAnachronism · 01/07/2014 16:15

Bindi lives with her husband, not with him.

I really wanted to believe he was innocent. As a pp said, with Jimmy Savile you could believe it, but not with Rolf.

thoughts go with the victims.

WashingFanatic · 01/07/2014 16:21

I think cases like this should be kept completely out of the media tbh.

He's been found guilty, hopefully it's the right verdict and he's punished for it. But because of the media attention there'll probably be a flood of people queuing up to accuse him of all sorts now, true or not.

STOPwiththehahaheheloling · 01/07/2014 16:23

Well amongst the 'flood' washing, there may be some actual victims who only found the confidence to speak up as a result of his crimes being brought to their attention by the media. And that would be a good thing.

glasgowstevenagain · 01/07/2014 16:24

Sheeshhhhh whats next - they must have known, his wife looked guilty too, she was prob in on it.

What has she done wrong - bad hair and a nervous smile! :(

squoosh · 01/07/2014 16:25

'I think cases like this should be kept completely out of the media tbh.'

Couldn't disagree more.

And I think it's such a myth that after a guilty verdict there will be people queuing up to falsely accuse them of other crimes.

STOPwiththehahaheheloling · 01/07/2014 16:25

And actually ive just realised you acknowledged this yourself in your 'true or not' comment so i'm now wondering what issue you have with true accusations being made? Confused

ComposHat · 01/07/2014 16:27

Unpleasant as this media circus is, I don't like the idea of secret trials where the public can't see the court process at work and on what basis a guilty verdict has been arrived at.

That's very twisted reading of my post stop Hmm

I don't have any issue with true accusations being made. I don't see what part of my post suggests I do.

fifi669 · 01/07/2014 16:31

Apart from he said/she said what was the actual evidence? Genuinely curious.

WashingFanatic · 01/07/2014 16:32

Wow, who needs a court room stooshe? You could have done it all yourself with your powers of telepathy Hmm

STOPwiththehahaheheloling · 01/07/2014 16:33

The part of your post that suggests you do is where you say "I think cases like this should be kept completely out of the media tbh." And then "But because of the media attention there'll probably be a flood of people queuing up to accuse him of all sorts now, true or not"

This suggest you think accustions should be prevented whether true or not.

IscreamUscream · 01/07/2014 16:35

I'm sorry but all this talk about his daughter and wife does not sit comfortably with me. They were not on trial at all.

RH is guilty. He was on trial not the rest of the family.

IscreamUscream · 01/07/2014 16:40

Bindi was part of the trial as she gave evidence in support of her father having a sexual relationship with one of her friends whilst married to her mother.

OP posts:
FiveFingerDeathPunch · 01/07/2014 16:40

she was not on trial though
except on mn of course

ComposHat · 01/07/2014 16:40

Stooshe you are speculating wildly and you diatribe bears no relation to the facts.

WashingFanatic · 01/07/2014 16:46

The reason I think these cases should be kept out of the media is because the case should be weighed up with no bias, which just isn't possible. The media do everything possible to sell papers, which will sell better if they whip people up into a frenzy.

The articles I've seen about RH and the victim who's waived her anonymity - they've generally featured pictures of RH alongside pictures of the victim when she looks about 6 or 7. Yet she was 15 when the assault took place.

How you can keep a jury unbiased is beyond me. I don't think you can.
