Well I'm Scottish, so I can't say with any sincerity that I have a deep-seated desire for England to win the world cup, but I would have liked them to do a bit better than they did.

I think compos nails it. The commentary & the 1966 shit is cringeworthy and tbh can get on one's tits. The media were talking 'best team in the competition' when anyone looking remotely closely knew they weren't at their best. Most of the England supporters I actually know were a bit more realistic.

The premier league is full of money & foreign talent. That doesn't automatically translate to a top national squad. Having said that before any other bugger does Scottish football has a bigger mountain to climb.

If they'd worked their socks off to win I'd be gutted for England but they really haven't. I mean yeah granny shagger Rooney scored last night but it wasn't that hard after it was set up for him like that. Honestly My DP has put more effort into farting.

ssd I love Scotland as a place, but just think it is patronising of the English to pat the plucky little Scots on the head and say 'good luck to you, aren't we big and maganomous in gifting our support to you, shame you can't you do the same.' It is more healthy and less condesending to great the invective aimed at the England football team, with some of the same.

I will probably get pelters at work from people whose team hasn't qualified for a major competition since 98 and have never made it out of the group stages and whose proudest world cup moment is a toe bunt in a match they went on to loose 4-1. Really in no position to start crowing about anything. Fair enough if the ribbing was coming from a Brazillian, French or German fan who were coming from a country with a decent world cup pedigree. Worry about your shite team and I'll worry about how shite England are.

Weebarra I do have a soft spot for St Johnstone along with Partick Thistle, but my Scottish team is Hibs, so it hasn't been a great season all round. One of the most offensive assumptions I've had is that i must support Rangers being English, but I hate them (and the sizeable tribe of scumbags and bigots who attach themselves to the club) with a passion.

My Bil is in Brazil, about to watch the Honduras v Ecuador game. Jealous.

I know... as I say not a good season. My English team missed out on promotion to the Conference, Hibs got relegated and we will have Rangers fans back on Easter road and we live very close to the stadium. Before they went into adminstration, a bunch of them defecated in the tenement stair because I assume it was painted green.
