If a women walked around with no top on I suspect she would get arrested for indecent exposer.

So why can men go around without a vest or t-shirt on.

Also agreeing with piglet.

I'm actually quite envious of them Blush that they have the freedom to go topless wherever they please (almost)

Mrsjayy · 08/06/2014 15:52

I meant wonen topless not half dressed if a woman had nakec beasts on show it would be seen as indecent I dont like looking at bare nippled men walking down the street it doesnt offend me I just dont like it

whynowblowwind · 08/06/2014 15:53

I hate it, my dad used to do this all the time when we were growing up and usually he had excellent manners but I find it really crass and chavvy.

Alconleigh · 08/06/2014 15:54

It's slovenly and unpleasant to see. And I don't care how attractive or unattractive the offender is, the point is the same. Although let's face it, as a nation we are built for autumn; lovely jumpers, scarves, coats and boots......

makeminea6x · 08/06/2014 15:58

Just doesn't bother me.

*Flies, Wasps, BO and People Without Adequate Clothing.

My Pet Hates of Summer*

mowing the flipping lawn should be in there too!

Fairylea · 08/06/2014 16:14

I can't stand it except in swimming situations. I think it looks really cheap and tacky.. and a bit rough really although I don't know why I feel that way. I just do.

Sallystyle · 08/06/2014 16:21

I really couldn't care less.

Even if they are flabby, hairy or any of those things.

I do often think it is a bit show offy, but I am not offended by seeing skin in any age, shape or size.

whynowblowwind · 08/06/2014 16:27

I feel exactly the same Fairylea - there's just something UNCOUTH about it!

I especially hate it when there's a pack of topless men - gross.

Sparklingbrook · 08/06/2014 16:28

I will just continue to ignore, as I normally do and hope to not have my personal space invaded by one when I am going about my business.

MacenroeTheBoatAshore · 08/06/2014 16:34

uurgh. there was one, looked like Stavros Flatly (!) in garden that backs ours, on his BBQ, hairy topless sweting into the food he was BBQing! all boobs and beer belly. oh and the obligotary tattoos too.

PUT IT AWAY!

Someone should go on Dragons Den/The apprentice and promote bras for men!!!!

Freidian yes, I lived in hot countries too and NO ONE went topless unless it was the beach.

and at the beach theyd cover up to eat at the bars/restaurantrs by the beach.

Yes, I do agree that in your own house/garden then go as topless as you like, or naked if that's what you like. Although no naked BBQing possibly.

whynowblowwind · 08/06/2014 16:46

The garden is fine, the beach is fine.

Anywhere else is not fine, including pub beer gardens, the high street, Asda and Next.

Basically, if I wouldn't wear a bikini there, I don't like to see topless men there.

AICM · 08/06/2014 16:50

I can't believe the level of vile sexism on this thread.

The extent to which women here have been appallingly judgmental about older men's bodies is staggering. Don't any of you ever complain again when a man judges an older women's body.

"Sarah!?! You must be kidding! She's over 40, well past her sell by date. Have you how fat her arse is? She's not worth a w*!"

Dubjackeen · 08/06/2014 16:50

Guy in our estate who treats us to this every summer. It's not pretty, he stands outside his garden wall, with an enormous belly on show. Woo hoo Confused
I think he fancies himself. Hopefully his wife does too...

Alconleigh · 08/06/2014 16:53

It's not sexism. It's anti inappropriate flesh bearing in public contexts. I'd feel exactly the same about women in bikinis on the high street or in the supermarket. Beach, park, own garden, different story.

Alconleigh · 08/06/2014 16:54

Or even baring. I am probably against bearing too though Grin

Sparklingbrook · 08/06/2014 16:54

It's nothing to do with sexism for me. Confused I don't want to see topless men or women in the meat dept in Tesco TBH.

many comments talk about inappropriate flesh baring in public. Many talk about moobs, back hair and the age of the man.

Many comments are not sexist.

HilariousInHindsight · 08/06/2014 17:02

I'm not personally bothered whether a man or a woman is showing their top half, to be honest.

I see plenty of woman breastfeeding so breasts aren't offensive to me and men just have nipples and hair sometimes quite a bit of flab but even the heavily overweight ones you'd still see the amount of fat whether they had their clothes on or not.

In fairness not a lot aesthetically speaking bothers me though. It has to be pretty bloody dreadful for me to notice something.

Flashing genitals though is never OK, unless you're on a nudist beach.

Itsfab · 08/06/2014 17:04

Topless, fat and smelly in asda yesterday. Yuk.
