If a women walked around with no top on I suspect she would get arrested for indecent exposer.

So why can men go around without a vest or t-shirt on.

Doesn't bother me in the slightest. Don't find it offensive/disgusting/aggressive. Obviously in the minority on this one!

Sparklingbrook · 08/06/2014 10:44

I am not offended-that's the wrong word, I don't run away screaming if I see a stranger's bare chest. Just a bit 'Why do you need to do that '?

MrsKCastle · 08/06/2014 10:48

Same as Sparklingbrook- I'm not offended. I just don't like it. I think it's inappropriate on the street. It's not about the age/appearance of the man- I'd feel the same about someone young, fit and attractive. I'd also feel the same about a woman walking around the supermarket in a bikini top- it's not appropriate clothing for the situation.

Trooperslane · 08/06/2014 10:54

What everyone else said.

Woman in Costa gets called a slut for FEEDING her baby - men fey to swagger around half naked.

Hmm
pictish · 08/06/2014 10:59

merel you're not. I agree with you. It does no actual harm and affects no one.
As for the posts highlighting the dreadful offence caused by body hair and other physical imperfections...grow up.

Sparklingbrook · 08/06/2014 10:59

You look downwards to avoid the bare chest and then get confronted by men's hoof like feet and yellow toenails in sandals.

Sparklingbrook · 08/06/2014 11:00

Sorry Pictish-I hate feet. Sad

FreudiansSlipper · 08/06/2014 11:05

I do not like to see men with tops off unless at a beach not matter what they look like just not necessary

something very primal about it like a cock (which they most often are) strutting around hens

only men I have known to do this are twatish anyway

DogCalledRudis · 08/06/2014 11:14

Depends what men. Some are really nice to see topless

Sparklingbrook · 08/06/2014 11:29

No, Dog it's not about ogling nice men's chests.

MissPennySweet · 08/06/2014 11:33

Yuck! I do not want to see fat, hairy, old men wandering around with no top on in any circumstance!

I do however want to see tanned, fit, ripped men topless at all times it should be law

PigletJohn · 08/06/2014 11:36

is it just fat hairy old men who should have all unsightly parts of their bodies concealed?

IfNotNowThenWhen · 08/06/2014 11:36

Way back in't 80's my parents hired a building duo (one of whom was female) to do the patio. It was a very hot summer and they both ended up working topless.
Ooh, it was the talk of the street for years!
It didn't actually look that weird to see a not particularly large breasted woman laying flagstones with no top on, after a while. I think women should go topless more, then it would be more normal.
But, yeah, sweaty hairy men in food shops is grim.

Mrsjayy · 08/06/2014 12:51

Oh its all men not just the fat hairy ones as somebody else said its not that hot that men need to wander about naked

Southeastdweller · 08/06/2014 12:55

I remember this coming up last summer and to paraphrase someone else, the type of men that walk round with no shirt on tells you all you need to know about them.

So, no YANBU.

Southeastdweller · 08/06/2014 13:01

Oh no, grammar fail above but you all knew what I meant.

pictish · 08/06/2014 13:01

Maybe they just enjoy the feeling of the sun on their skin?

Gruntfuttock · 08/06/2014 13:06

topMrsItsNoworNotatAll Whilst realising that your post was so good that you said it thrice Wink I don't understand this part of them "whilst trying to look like Ten men."

My worst experience of topless men were the ones that came to clean my carpets. They initially addressed me quite formally and politely, but in no time they'd stripped off their shirts and were parading around bare-chested as if they thought they were strippers giving me a real treat (in fact, they were far from being eye-candy), calling me "darlin'" and saying they wanted drinks. By the way they behaved I'm sure they thought I was practically swooning with lust whereas I just wanted them to leave as they were so obnoxious.

Mrsjayy · 08/06/2014 13:09

Maybe so but if a woman walked into tesco half naked she would be arrested the op is right there is a time and place for tops off

Sparklingbrook · 08/06/2014 13:14

They can feel the sun on their skin in the garden/allotment/beach. They aren't going to feel the sun on their skins in the supermarket/cafe.

Plus if they are sweating a t shirt would be a good thing surely?

pictish · 08/06/2014 13:37

Nope...I'm trying to see what the beef is, but I'm failing to.

Sparklingbrook · 08/06/2014 13:41

I guess you just feel different towards it pictish.

The men that do it don't seem to care anyway and won't be putting it away just because some don't like it.

It's just one of those summer things I have to endure. One of many things.

PigletJohn · 08/06/2014 15:31

"if a woman walked into tesco half naked she would be arrested "

I have no knowledge if that is true.

However if she walked into tesco wearing just a thong and enough of a top to cover most of her nipples I am sure she would not, although she might be asked to leave if not in a beachy area..

Most of this thread is about covering up people who are unsightly, fat, old or hairy; provided only that they are unsighty men, and not unsightly women.

ugly people have as much right to skin as anyone else.

It's just slobbish behaviour

I am hot I shall take my top off if others if they do not think its appropriate I do not care

lived in very very hot countries and visited plenty where the local people seem to manage to not strip off unless they are at the beach/round a swimming pool
