I'm 36 and have been being treated for breast cancer for the past 9 months. I was diagnosed when DC3 was 8 weeks.
I've had 6 months of chemo, a bilateral mastectomy and now I'm doing the radiotherapy bit. AIBU not to want to walk through clouds of smoke at the entrance to the oncology centre?
I get that people are addicted. I've smoked myself and both parents do. It's just that I feel really pissed off when I see both staff and patients puffing away.
I was going to get cancer anyway - I have the BRCA2 gene, but these people don't have to get it. I just want to shake them.

Addicted to fags doesn't mean you can't walk or be rolled in a wheelchair with your drip trolley since you're so determined a few extra feet so sick people, pregnant people and children dont need to run the gauntlet to enter a fucking hospital.

I'm happy to reassess my opinion if presented with some actual science though. It's a minor point as far as I'm concerned.

I found it profound and spine chilling! It scared the life out of me.
My mum's a smoker and my children will lose their grandmother early because of the smoking related illness she has. I think she is stupid for smoking.
I am in awe of someone who does what logical does all day then finds the time to come on here and try to educate one or two tory-like, 'not for turning' unfortunate people.

Some of us care about saving lives and increasing people's health, others seem to have quite a different agenda.

I'm not disputing lung cancer I am disputing 'black lung' - do you have any proper scientific evidence for black lung caused by smoking? (I can do words, you don't have to just post context-free pictures)

I thought the histology slide was pretty scientific evidence that smoking causes diseased lungs. That was the point I was trying to make.in my.original pic. And so therefore should.be stopped.in all public areas. The rest of the arguement is a bit.off topic

Well we don't know what it is grumpy, do we? Could be a bit of liver for all we know.

I am sure there must be lots of actal proper science papers on smoker's black lung that logical could link to though, after all, everybody knows it's true.

I think you should write to your hospital about it, it's a valid complaint. There was a crowd of smokers outside the hospice where my Dad was that used to make me cringe, they had cancer themselves and knew it was too late so seemed to want to smoke even more. Life is cruel sometimes.

Smokers will still have diseased (not black) lungs if they smoke in private by the way so not only is your 'science' a bit dodgy, your 'logic' isn't up to much either.
