to wish that people would stop assuming I'm a feminist just because I'm female?

Does this happen to other people? It's beginning to annoy me.

Wow that sounds brilliant!

I am a feminist and I never get randomly invited to feminist events at all!

What have you signed up to / where do you work / who is doing this? I'd love to be in your boat!

mercibucket · 28/05/2014 21:31

Hope you put them right and told them you are opposed to equal rights for women in any sphere of life
That'll learn 'em

AnyFucker · 28/05/2014 21:31

I find people keep insisting that I address international conferences on World Peace. It's really fucking irritating.

Mrsjayy · 28/05/2014 21:32

Bastards A F

AnyFucker · 28/05/2014 21:33

They just won't take no for an answer Angry

ExcuseTypos · 28/05/2014 21:33

How very dare these people assume such a thingShock.

It's political correctness gone MAD!

HoneyDragon · 28/05/2014 21:34

I keep getting fucked off with invitations for a smear from the GP. Oh Honeydragon please come for a smear test. Totally rude assumption.

WilsonFrickett · 28/05/2014 21:34

Well quite AF. Last week I had to turn down two invitations to speak about actual rocket science - and no, I don't mean salad dressing. How irksome.

ThatBloodyWoman · 28/05/2014 21:34

I got asked to speak at a feminist orientated event many years ago.
But that's ok cos I am one.
A feminist, that is.
Stroke of luck really.

HookingBrilliant · 28/05/2014 21:34

Hah, it must just be me that this happens to!

I'm not keen on women only events. I don't think they promote equality. I don't think they help in any way. I'd quite like equality but I'm not happy about opportunities that are open only to women - that doesn't seem much like equality to me.

grocklebox · 28/05/2014 21:34

Of course you are a feminist. But seriously, do you shit money or something? Nobody gets that many invites......

tethersend · 28/05/2014 21:36

My thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

hugoagogo · 28/05/2014 21:36

I am thinking of accepting next time the united nations ask me to be their representative.

MrsKoala · 28/05/2014 21:36

Especially when everyone knows you are very anti world peace AnyFucker. Presumptuous bastards.

Mrsjayy · 28/05/2014 21:36

A safe space where women can share whatever and talk freely is bloody equality

WillieWaggledagger · 28/05/2014 21:37

that's slightly different from assuming you're a feminist - many feminists would quite like equality too

WillieWaggledagger · 28/05/2014 21:38
Wink
ExcuseTypos · 28/05/2014 21:38

Why don't you contact UKIP. In sure they'd help.

LaurieFairyCake · 28/05/2014 21:38

Germaine, is that you ?

Wink
halfwildlingwoman · 28/05/2014 21:38

Oh dear. I think if you give back your job and your right to vote, it'll be fine.

HookingBrilliant · 28/05/2014 21:38

I'm on four or five so far this year, grockle :(

You'd 'quite like' equality

Oh for fucks sake

quite like

HookingBrilliant · 28/05/2014 21:39

Invites to attend, not to speak!

TortoiseUpATreeAgain · 28/05/2014 21:39

You sound like a feminist to me. Granted, some other feminists would argue with you about the detail, and it's probably fair to say that you aren't a radical feminist, but possibly the reason people assume that you're a feminist is that, from your own description, you are.
