To think the School overreacted in Expelling Pupil and calling Police for a stunt, when a "bollocking would have been enough".

Jacob Dowdle, a year 13 Pupil at Altrincham Grammar school on the last day of term May 16, put a paper plate with whipped cream in to his year heads face.

This was a very "Stupid" thing to do, but no harm was meant or injury caused yet the school called the Police and summary expelled him. The teacher was seeking a prosecution for the stunt, when she was not injured The teacher although upset , should have had the grace to except that it was a poor stunt , ( or like most teachers on the last day taken it on the chin as overexcited students behaviour).

The petition has now been taken down.

That is good news , perhaps Jacob can start reflecting on his bad behaviour ans accept his punishment ( knowing how lucky he is to A. be allowed to take his A levels at school B. to have a chance of employment ( whatever the reason for it.)

The fact that Jacob has taken the petition down, means he is beginning to realise he cannot justify his behaviour , nor any case he has against the school.

Good! I wonder if LJ had anything to do with it - people have been tweeting and commenting on his blog that he should insist it was removed.

We have, quite rightly, heard nothing from the victim of all this. Naturally she will not be making public comments.

But I do hope she is receiving strong support from her colleagues at the school as well as family and friends. And if you happen to be reading this thread, you will understand how much we all support you too.

TheAmazingChandler · 02/06/2014 20:53

The comments are bonkers. He's started on the "I know some women so I know what it's like to be one" rhetoric now. 'Women are more than equal to men' which is why he calls them 'girls' and takes the piss out of his wife not being able to navigate to a shop in Paris.

Bluestocking · 02/06/2014 21:41

I wrote to the school and got a really nice message back. "Thank you for your email. The Head Master thanks you for your supportive message, which is very much appreciated, and we will pass your kind message on to the teacher."

Re LJ, I think you always know you're dealing with a massive MCP when you hear a phrase like "I need no convincing that women are more than equal to men", don't you? And when that's followed up with a classic like "Most of our management in UKFast are girls and I learnt my ability to communicate from some of the most amazing women on the planet" it leaves absolutely no room for doubt.

pianodoodle · 02/06/2014 21:57

Wow, well, everyone knows you have possibly be sexist if you know some women.

I actually had this exact line from a Ukip member I was talking to a few weeks ago.

"We are not a sexist party otherwise why would women be in it"

That's me placated then Grin

pianodoodle · 02/06/2014 21:58

I'm also pleased to report he wasn't elected.

SuburbanRhonda · 02/06/2014 22:04

Most of our management in UKFast are girls and I learnt my ability to communicate from some of the most amazing women on the planet

Isn't that grammatically wrong? Don't you learn "how" to do something? So shouldn't he have said, "I learned how to communicate from .... blah, blah, blah"

[Leaving aside the "most amazing women on the planet" comment that sounds like the title of some crap show on Pick TV.]

Sallyingforth · 02/06/2014 22:08

I'd be surprised if LJ wasn't a UKIP supporter. He sounds just like the type.

pianodoodle · 02/06/2014 22:40

Also... "Ability to communicate"...

Isn't that factually wrong?

smokepole · 02/06/2014 22:59

Whatever opinions you have of Lawence Jones, Please do not pick on his use of words spelling or grammar. He obviously has a lot of talent and business nous, to have achieved what he has in the business world( he is misguided with his thoughts, but I believe he wants to give Jacob a chance).

P.S As I have stated I am not linked in any way to lawence Jones what has UKIP got to do with Jacob Dowdle.

Nobody likes the grammar police. Grin

He obviously is a savvy business man. I honestly think he feels he is helping out a penitent underdog who is being shunned by society.

But, I don't see a penitent underdog. I see quite an entitled young man who is cashing in on his infamy.

Lawrence missed the point about #YesAllWomen. It isn't a "aren't ladies amazing, gosh they are sooooo strong, some of them are my best friends don't cha know"

It's more a spontaneous outpouring of the general crap women have to put up with, the casual violence and everyday misogyny.

All of this is minimised. We are told to develop a sense of humour or get a grip instead of the perpetrator being asked to stop.

I also got a nice reply from the school, they said they had visited mumsnet. Grin

For a better insight into what it is like to work for UKFast see below. As an FYI, in my opinion, the positive reviews are written by his PR team.

pianodoodle · 03/06/2014 11:15

Interesting to see comments from a site that hasn't been moderated by Lawrence Jones.

The positive reviews use a lot more "buzzwords" than the negative.

LJ himself has been described as a mad man in more than one negative review.

LumpySpacedPrincess · 03/06/2014 11:15

Thanks for the link. That's a bit of an eye opener isn't it.
pianodoodle was spot on.

nonmifairidere · 03/06/2014 11:34

Lumpy Speak for yourself. I love the grammar police. Nothing I have seen or read about LJ has disabused me of the belief he is an arse. Arses can do very well in business. Many of the most successful men in business are non-criminal psychopaths.

Pagwatch · 03/06/2014 11:54

IME The grammar police are often arrogant arses.
Pedants are often lovely. People picking on spelling just look like they don't have an argument.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 03/06/2014 12:06

An interesting contrast, isn't it?? One who behaves with dignity and another who thinks he'll get his own way if he shouts loud enough

I'm really, really hoping that he's not taken down the petition because someone's suggested he sues the school, and his case might look better without it Hmm

Bluestocking · 03/06/2014 12:25

I love the grammar police too. Writing clearly and elegantly is a great skill and much to be admired.
Some of those reviews on GlassDoor make hair-curling reading! I particularly loved the idea that the "benefits package" is largely made up of weekends away with LJ and his family. How inappropriate and embarrassing. I can't resist drawing the MN chapter of the LJ fan club's attention to the astonishingly inappropriate photo on this page of his blog. Not the one of his dear little daughter .... scroll down, but don't say I didn't warn you.

Pagwatch · 03/06/2014 12:36

The grammar police are not people who write clearly and beautifully.
They are people who post snippy and superior comments about spelling in the middle of an aibu bunfight about parent and child parking.

Bluestocking · 03/06/2014 12:45

Sorry, rookie misunderstanding about the meaning of the term "grammar police".

nonmifairidere · 03/06/2014 13:12

I still love the grammar police. But then I am arrogant, snippy, superior and an arse, at times, and it is comforting to find I'm not alone in this. I do, on occasion, write clearly and beautifully, too. I even, sometimes, make mistakes. As Joe E. Brown said at the end of a great film "Well, nobody's perfect."

Pagwatch · 03/06/2014 13:18

Gosh Bluestocking, don't apologise - I'm not the thread police Grin
Pedants corner is a section devoted to such things, full of nice people.

I just get the rage when some poor OP posts about some trauma they are experiencing and some wanker posts
'Paragraphs would help - trying to decipher that have me a headache'!

Tossers.
