To think the School overreacted in Expelling Pupil and calling Police for a stunt, when a "bollocking would have been enough".

Jacob Dowdle, a year 13 Pupil at Altrincham Grammar school on the last day of term May 16, put a paper plate with whipped cream in to his year heads face.

This was a very "Stupid" thing to do, but no harm was meant or injury caused yet the school called the Police and summary expelled him. The teacher was seeking a prosecution for the stunt, when she was not injured The teacher although upset , should have had the grace to except that it was a poor stunt , ( or like most teachers on the last day taken it on the chin as overexcited students behaviour).

And a thug is exactly what he is. No one should be attempting to excuse or minimise that.

Katz · 01/06/2014 11:47

Hes seemingly glossed over the whole thing, and again the pie was thrown which when you watch the film it quiet clearly wasn't it was forced into her face.

Having watched the film a few times, Jacobs actions become more and more calculated, he shields the pie from the teacher until the last minute giving her no time to defend herself. He then slams it into her face hard causing her to drop what she is carrying and then turns to the camera to laugh. Tellingly the background laughter soon stops they crowd knows he's overstepped the mark.

Bad call Lawrence Jones, your supporting the wrong person in all this. Schools and teachers need the support of their communities nit for local businessmen to take matters into their own hands and reward an unprovoked attack on a teacher.

CharmQuark · 01/06/2014 12:05

So, a hand holding a paper plate and foam shoved hard in your face is a 'prank' because the foam makes it hilarious. Hmm

However a hand shoved hard in your face without the comedy prop looks like assault to me.

Why should a teacher, a woman, or anyone have to put up with that?

Why does this boy think he is entitled to shove his hand in people's faces for fun?

Why does he think his apology has any currency or value whatsoever when his whole wail IS 'POOR MEEEEEEE' , she wants to ruin my career, my life.... ' and qualifies everything about his apology in the media?

Well, I'm pleased he has got his name everywhere - I won't be employing him.

Jacob Dowdle: learn to shut up and put up.

Wantapony · 01/06/2014 12:47

I hope he really regrets this later in life when his google search is swamped with this nasty stunt. At that age, you do stupid things, but at no point is he genuinely sorry for his actions, there has just been a forced and disingenuous 'apology'.
Poor teacher - my DM taught and was quite strict - I would have been devastated if a pupil had hurt and embarrassed her like this and this was in the days before videos were uploaded for the world to see.
One point I'd suggest is the school ban all end of year 'pranks'.

smokepole · 01/06/2014 12:57

Why do pupils at 18 not 11, realise that strict teachers are strict because they care that their pupils reach their academic potential.

They expect their pupils to always give their best effort, that is surely harder for the teacher concerned . Its pathetic to think students aged 16/1718 would prefer teachers who could not give a toss about their standard of work or behaviour.

"I think some of the boys/girls from AGSB/AGGS who have tweeted , should be informed of the facts and disciplined by their schools. They have brought both of their schools in to disrepute, and should at least be told that their conduct in supporting or tweeting support for him is unacceptable, childish and will be remembered by the school when references are required."

Those grammar school brains....

smokepole · 01/06/2014 13:38

Would it be deemed funny or bullying, if the year 13 students instead of pulling stunts on teachers decided to throw custard pies/ water bombs over year 7,8 and 9 and throwing their weight around.

smokepole · 01/06/2014 13:48

CharmQuark. I think you need to include the Headmaster of Alyesbury Grammar school in the Brains section, who allowed his year 13 students to "Blacken up" like the Black and white Minstrels ( though born in 1973 only seen it on you tube) and perform Cool Runnings with stupid Jamaican accents.

Because that's the sort of understanding which comes with maturity ... or in this idiot's case, not

SuburbanRhonda · 01/06/2014 13:58

Just read the blog and don't know where to begin.

The offer of Jones to mediate between Jacob Dowdle and the teacher he assaulted is perhaps the most mind-boggling example of narcissism I have ever come across.

Everything else he's written - I have no words.

LumpySpacedPrincess · 01/06/2014 14:23

Well, that was an interesting read. I've just commented on his blog.

He omits all the details that are most damaging to Jacobs version of events.

SnowinBerlin · 01/06/2014 14:31

No comments showing up though. I suspect the uncomplimentary ones will disappear into the ether.

Maybe we should tweet and ask if we are allowed to comment on his blog. Grin

SuburbanRhonda · 01/06/2014 14:44

Has anyone emailed the school in support of the teacher? I would prefer to do that than read any more about Jacob Dowdle and his campaign team.

LumpySpacedPrincess · 01/06/2014 14:53

At least me and LineRunner have emailed the school including a link to this thread. Grin

MuttonCadet · 01/06/2014 14:54

The telegraph aren't even aware of where Altrincham is. The Lawrence fellow is a narcissist who is after publicity and calls his females employees "girls" and encourages "banter", he sounds super! Hmm

EvilTwins · 01/06/2014 15:05

He ignored my tweet asking if he always blocks people who disagree with him.

He's clearly a prize twerp.

LumpySpacedPrincess · 01/06/2014 15:19

He encourages banter but clearly discourages debate.

Bluestocking · 01/06/2014 15:30

I think we all know what "banter" is, don't we? And what happens to people who don't find it funny, particularly if they happen to be "ladies"? HmmConfused

MuttonCadet · 01/06/2014 15:32

Well I'll certainly be making sure that none of our group businesses are using his firm, but then given how tiny it is, I can't imagine they would be.

Bluestocking · 01/06/2014 15:35

Ka-pow, Mutton! Is that BURNING I smell? Grin
