It is over 100 years since a national election has been won by a party other than the Conservatives and Labour.

What's more the UK Independence Party did it by winning seats not just in every region of England but in Wales and Scotland too!

UKIP opinions are the majority - FACT!

Because if the are black they would have heritige from somewhere else other then english wouldn't they?'
No you dimwit. It means they are English of West Indian heritage. Just as many thousands of people are English with Indian/Pakistani/Cypriot/Irish/etc. etc. heritage.

errrr you just rephrased what i said about having abother heritage?

AutumnStar · 27/05/2014 17:36

Cupboard is open to everyone who doesn't give a shit where someone's dad was born. And doesn't describe non-white people as 'darkies'.

gordyslovesheep · 27/05/2014 17:38

errrr you just rephrased what i said about having abother heritage

no because you are asserting that having that heritage makes you not 'English' - but no one is 'English' in that sense OP not even you

FidelineandFumblin · 27/05/2014 17:38

Oh my word, who said 'darkies'? Shock

Aspiringhuman · 27/05/2014 17:38

Well if we're speaking biologically we're all African.

FidelineandFumblin · 27/05/2014 17:39

This would all get much clearer if we dropped the word 'english'

gordyslovesheep · 27/05/2014 17:39

I am not English ...can I come in to the cupboard - do I have to pass a cricket test?

herecomesthesunlala · 27/05/2014 17:39

The only person who used the term darkie was a black lady on here - For clarification to those who have not bothered to read this whole thread

'errrr you just rephrased what i said about having abother heritage?'

No I am telling you that no matter what someone's skin colour is, no matter where their parents are from, if they are born in England they are English. English with another heritage in their mix but still very much English.

It's really very simple. Concnetrate hard and it might sink in in a week or two.

goshhhhhh · 27/05/2014 17:40

Am I English? My grandparents were Irish & my father's family can from France in the 1600s. How many generations make englishness?

FidelineandFumblin · 27/05/2014 17:40

I'm so sorry OP I must have missed a word in the chaos - I will try harder Hmm

Wellwellwell3holesintheground · 27/05/2014 17:41

Aspiringhuman - I love you.

gordyslovesheep · 27/05/2014 17:41

Herecomesthesunlala I'll ask one more time then I am going to watch some paint dry ...how many generations of your family were born in England with English parents (also of generations of only English people)

I mean seriously ...how far back do you go?

FidelineandFumblin · 27/05/2014 17:41

Six gosshh. Or three in wartime. Best get in the cupboard Wink

AutumnStar · 27/05/2014 17:43

OP, the fact the person who used the term was black does not mean it's not derogatory and offensive.

We're sailing dangerously close to "I worked with a black man twenty years ago and he didn't mind us calling him xyz..." territory here.

herecomesthesunlala · 27/05/2014 17:43

ok, if noone can comprehend the difference between being English and British and slams someone for being "racist" for saying it, then forget it, it's above you. You can be in this country and hold a British passport and be British after 5 years, that does not make you English - It's a totlally differnt thing. The only reason i mentioned it at all was to state why i though the London vote differed to the rest of the UK but this thread has now been hijacked by this issue with people making ridiculous assumptions and asking stupid questions that are of no relevance!

OP posts:
Wellwellwell3holesintheground · 27/05/2014 17:43

goshhhhhh - I have one great grandparent that is French. The other 7 can be traced back as English to 1500 or so. Do you think I get to go and live in France?

squoosh · 27/05/2014 17:43

I'm not English though, not even British, hope I have the correct authorisation to post on this thread.

Aspiringhuman · 27/05/2014 17:43

Couldn't resist wellwell.

FidelineandFumblin · 27/05/2014 17:43

I suspect the OP is a eugenicist gordy. Which is nice Hmm. And so much more convenient these days what with genome mapping 'n' all' Smile

HavantGuard · 27/05/2014 17:45

The Normans were descended from Vikings so essentially we were settled by them twice.

herecomesthesunlala · 27/05/2014 17:45

OP, the fact the person who used the term was black does not mean it's not derogatory and offensive.
We're sailing dangerously close to "I worked with a black man twenty years ago and he didn't mind us calling him xyz..." territory here.

I was just being clear i didn't say it, as it looked from the post about that term that it was I who used that word - that is all - clarity for people who did not bother to read the whole thread

OP posts:
Deverethemuzzler · 27/05/2014 17:45

You haven't answered my question OP.
Are.my.family.English?

goshhhhhh · 27/05/2014 17:46

Possibly well well - though mine left to escape persecution....

gordyslovesheep · 27/05/2014 17:46

Grin I suspect you are right Fide - not sure why that suprises me at all
