It is over 100 years since a national election has been won by a party other than the Conservatives and Labour.

What's more the UK Independence Party did it by winning seats not just in every region of England but in Wales and Scotland too!

UKIP opinions are the majority - FACT!

You didn't answer my question about who is better, NI me or my home-counties-of-immigrant-parents partner. Would you send any of us back where we came from?

Yes both of you, assuming your partner is as annoying as you are?

Oh, I forgot to ask - how many English grandparents or great grandparents do you need to qualify as English? Do you have some sort of 'one drop' rule, where any trace of non-English ancestry makes you a slave foreigner?

cardibach · 27/05/2014 17:18

SO if you agree that whether the London voters were English or not is irrelevant, why all the fuss? I'm confused.

TortoiseUpATreeAgain · 27/05/2014 17:18

So let me get this straight.

Two people from Moldavia emigrate to Ruritania. They take Ruritanian citizenship, get jobs in Ruritania, pay taxes in Ruritania.

They have a baby. That baby is born in Ruritania to two Ruritanian citizens, is registered as a Ruritanian citizen from birth, and grows up in Ruritania speaking Ruritanian with Ruritanian friends. She has never been to Moldavia.

Then when that baby is grown up he/she marries another Ruritanian citizen and they have a baby.

In your opinion that baby is at most 50% Ruritanian, and is 50% Moldavian?

Blimey.

herecomesthesunlala · 27/05/2014 17:19

So who did you all vote for and WHY?

OP posts:
gordyslovesheep · 27/05/2014 17:19

Cardi you missed Africa ...where the origins of all human life began Grin

FidelineandFumblin · 27/05/2014 17:19

OP what is this obsession with englishness?? The only legally significant status is nationality and nationality is all that matters to immigration policy debates.

stealthsquiggle · 27/05/2014 17:20

So if 37% of the population of London were born outside Britain, then presumably 63% were born in Britain.

So those 63%, who overwhelmingly did not vote for UKIP, appear not to have an issue with this awful "diversity", then?

I am failing to see how this proves the pro-UKIP point Confused (unless skin colour or family origins do matter in your twisted maths, but you insist they don't)

Tangerinefairy · 27/05/2014 17:21

I wouldn't care if the "majority" of people did vote for UKIP, they are twits of the highest order. Millions of people CAN be wrong.

FidelineandFumblin · 27/05/2014 17:21

OP If you're a Londoner, then you must realise that most of us Londoners like the huge diversity we have in London. I can see why some provincial Ukippers are having a happy week, but as a London Ukipper don't you feel as though you're on a doomed and lonely mission?

gordyslovesheep · 27/05/2014 17:21

I love the cupboard ... a hot bed of wishy washy bleeding heart liberal leftyness - heaven

Aspiringhuman · 27/05/2014 17:22

The serious answer is if a baby is born on an aeroplane it's place of birth will be recorded as "on board aircraft in airspace of x country" or perhaps with modern technology coordinates if born over international waters. Nationality would then be taken as the mothers AFAIK.

As for "depends on the colour of their skin", I feel a little sick now.

wigornian · 27/05/2014 17:22

If I had a baby in Japan, they might hold Japanese citizenship, but they would not be ethically Japanese, would they? Race and Nationality can be two very different things.

I hope you can produce papers OP, and a blood sample please, that prove your blood lineage can be traced back to Alfred the Great.

FidelineandFumblin · 27/05/2014 17:22

So who did you all vote for and WHY?

Oh no - answer our questions first please.

cardibach · 27/05/2014 17:22

I think I need to come into the cupboard for a sleep. My brain has been tired out by weird logic. Don't worry, I won't snore and disturb the Breaking Bad marathon. I will bring chocolate.

LtEveDallas · 27/05/2014 17:23

I currently work with an English Hindu with a sweet Scottish accent. He blows peoples minds when they first meet him
"Oh look, brown bloke in turban, huh? He's wearing an England shirt, huh? He's bloody Scottish, huh? huh?

GRIN

herecomesthesunlala · 27/05/2014 17:24

Many people think that 'English' is the same as 'British'. It is not! THAT IS THE ONLY POINT I WAS RELAYING.

People who are English are from the country of England. On the other hand, British people are people who live in Great Britain (Britain) and the UK.

All though everyone in the UK has a British citizenship they have different nationalities.

OP posts:
Deverethemuzzler · 27/05/2014 17:24

stealth but what about the ones in the 63% who are not white? They may have been born here and so may their parents but they are.not.white.

What do we do about them Shock

FidelineandFumblin · 27/05/2014 17:24

OP what is this obsession with englishness?? The only legally significant status is nationality and nationality is all that matters to immigration policy debates.

cardibach · 27/05/2014 17:26

I'll go. I voted Plaid because, despite some dodgy connections int eh past, they are the closest thing to a socialist party we have now, they represent Welsh interests (which are sometimes different from those of other regions) and they aren't racist. Please don't start a point about 'discrimination' against English people in Wales based on language. Anyone can learn a language as witness the leader of Plaid who is a learner.
OK OP?

squoosh · 27/05/2014 17:26

Can someone make sure the cupboard has a well stocked drinks cabinet that magically replenishes itself?

Foreign liquor most welcome.

gordyslovesheep · 27/05/2014 17:27

so you are saying London is a hotbed of Welsh and Scottish voters?
