that Mners seem to have? I have read through their manifesto and it seems all very reasonable to me.
I can't see why opposing 'open door' immigration, and wanting out of Europe , invokes so much hatred on MN?

And claiming that what Farange their leader says, is unimportant.

Of course they say that because he has said so many shocking things.

a leap into the unknown with UKIP

As members of a democracy it's our absolute duty that we know exactly what we are voting for and what the implications are likely to be of doing so.

Leaping into the unknown is the last thing a voter should do! For goodness sake, you reduce it to sounding like we are going on a first date or something!!

Other parties have initiatives and policies that address racism, sexism etc e.g. all women shortlists
Surely an all woman shortlist is sexist?

I'm truly Shock that anyone with a brain, or even half a brain, would or could advocate that we vote for someone who represents a leap into the unknown.

That is one of the most stupid and ignorant things I think I have read for quite some time.

Unfortunately I don't think it's possible to educate anyone who's decided to vote foruUKIP. How any woman can even consider doing so is beyond my comprehension.

They would very likely be the kind of woman who can read the misogynistic drivel of the Daily Mail.

No, having nearly 80% male MPs is sexist. Having it written into your constitution that a portion of your upper house is male-only (C of E bishops) is sexist. All-women shortlists are part of addressing that.

The UK is ranked 53rd in the world for female representation in government - that's sexist.

TucsonGirl · 11/05/2014 12:10

I'll believe in all-women shortlists when parties will use them for marginal seats.

Lottiedoubtie · 11/05/2014 12:11

An all women short list may or may not be sexist depending on the context. That's one of the things that worries me about UKIP their seeming inability to see context, shades of grey and nuance.

Except when it comes to employing immigrants to hand round their leaflets, work as their secretary's and pose in their poster campaigns of course. Hmm

Your posts are very short OP and don't really address the issue of what about UKIP you like and want to support? Can you enlighten us?

Report
nomorequotes · 11/05/2014 12:14

an all woman shortlist is only sexist when all-male shortlists are also sexist.

I think you can see where I am going with this.

Also funny that the OP has read their manifesto but doesn't really answer any questions or provide any insight into it.

BTW, I'm not an advocate of All-women shortlists - I just used it as an example of how other parties deal with equal representation.

Also giving a small advantage to a disadvantaged group is not 'sexist' / 'racist' / whatever. It is done to address entrenched institutional and historical inequalities. Men don't need 'all-men' shortlists because almost all shortlists are male-dominated anyway.

I don't support ukip but if they are saying disabled children should go to special school rather than mainstream in some cases and I stress in some cases this might not be a bad thing my son is autistic he is due to start reception in September we have to wait until august to find out if he has a place in a special school this has taken me a long time to accept but he won't cope in mainstream and I have seen autistic children badly let down in mainstream so I would welcome more special schools.

When you are a bear of very little brain you find that when you think of things, you sometimes find that a thing that feels very thingish inside you is quite different when it gets out into the open and other people are looking at it - A A Milne.

This sums up the OP's, ahem, attenuated posts.

Report
TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 11/05/2014 12:20

This for example would be sexist.

Why do you OP support a party that opposes equal pay for male & female workers?

A few of the 'problems' with Utwit. Plus the fact that they don't have any workable constructive policies.
