It is a pretty working class street, some council, some privately owned houses. Not sure if that is relevant but WHY the fuck would you advertise the fact that you are a fuckwit? All of the people with the notices up are older people - older than me, which is 43 (im not older!!!! - ok, maybe a bit).

Its pretty worrying really that what i would normally see as very respectable folk have been sucked in by this bullshit?

This is a conservative ward, and although dissilussioned with the previous gov i have always voted labour - i am going to have to vote bloody tory in a half beat effort to keep Ukip out of the area :(

My DD lives in a town with a ukip counsellor - its fucking dire and getting worse :(

Oh hell yes I'd judge all right! After all I'm entitled to my opinion too...

ExcuseTypos · 10/05/2014 18:04

She says they arent going to do anything. They're worried about repercussions from the LL.Sad They are leaving in June so they won't be there long.

thornrose · 10/05/2014 18:06

YANBU I felt exactly the same way the other day, I saw 3 houses with UKIP posters in my street. I'm now intrigued to see who lives there. There are no posters for other political parties.

nomorequotes · 10/05/2014 18:07

What concerns me about UKIP is their lack of policies. I can't see a single solid policy on their website. It all seems to be 'we won't do this' rather than 'instead we will do this'

Which worries me a lot.

Somepercentagenotcool · 10/05/2014 18:08

And don't people who are thinking about voting for them wonder what it is about UKIP that make it so attractive to twats like David Silvester (the gay floods guy). If UKIP was so reasonable then it wouldn't have had to deal with all the embarrassing cunty remarks from its members, because they never would have been members in the first place. There's only so many times you can say 'oh he is just one extreme view'.

Rebecca2014 · 10/05/2014 18:09

UKIP will never come to power so what are you worrying about?

People are concerned about immigration so they vote ukip as they are the only people promising to actually do something about the open door to the EU.

ExcuseTypos your daughter sounds pathetic, crying over an ukip banner?

somewheresomehow · 10/05/2014 18:10

its a piece of paper, everyone can vote for whoever they want
and the one with the most will win if you dont like it tough its still a free society

StarGazeyPond · 10/05/2014 18:11

Quite honestly I don't think MOST UKIP voters will CARE about their policies, or their candidates. Most votes will be PROTEST votes AGAINST the other parties, not actually FOR UKIP.

gotnotimeforthat · 10/05/2014 18:14

This thread makes me wonder when people will realise that they are entitled to their own opinion.

Just because they don't share your opinion it does not make them fuckwits.

And another poster saying you should go and explain how idiotic it is to them? Really!? People can vote for who the hell they like and they should be able to do that criticism or confrontation.

LEMmingaround · 10/05/2014 18:14

Rebecca - that was a fucking shitty comment to make Hmm I'd rather have a dd who was upset over a ukip banner than someone who thinks they are remotely worth more than the shit off my shoe. But hey, if you think its not fuckwittery to vote for a party that would happily abort disabled babies among many other ridiculous ideas then hey, you go aheaad, but trust me, i will judge you. When you consider that it was Hitler's nazi party who practices eugenics, you would think they wouldn't want to associate themselves with such views, but then again, maybe they do...............

OddBoots · 10/05/2014 18:16

Maybe, but that's pretty terrifying, isn't it StarGazeyPond.

There are others who remember what UKIP was and haven't caught up with what it is now.

"It has become corrupt, racist and obsessed with immigration and Islam. It hardly talks about the EU but its MEPs do travel to Brussels to get on the gravy train. I despise it now." - Professor Alan Sked, Ukip co-founder

funnyossity · 10/05/2014 18:17

I did the online test a while back to see which party most aligned to my views and came up with UKIP, probably due to Europe and fisheries policy, (there were no questions to answer on the social side brought up on this thread.) I have an acquaintance whose family are fishermen and who has voted UKIP because of that.

I watch political stuff and on seeing real UKIP politicians I have decided I don't trust them; they manage the seemingly impossible and appear even less normal than the usual bunch. I can see how some people might be voting for them though without appreciating just how weird they are.

It doesn't upset me as we are in a democracy and they are not liable to gain power any time soon - they would implode under the resulting scrutiny anyway.

OddBoots · 10/05/2014 18:19

Absolutely people can vote for who they like but others are free to say what they think about any party and the people who vote for them.

The right to speak out is just as important as the right to vote - we shouldn't undervalue either.

bette06 · 10/05/2014 18:19

ExcuseTypos - As long as they don't remove his sign, is there anything preventing them from putting up their own sign, like this?:

Martorana · 10/05/2014 18:20

"Why would you be 'upset'? People are allowed to vote for who they like !!"

Of course they are. I just find overt stupidity upsetting,

BeyondRepair · 10/05/2014 18:20

I have an acquaintance whose family are fishermen and who has voted UKIP because of that

I have never heard that link before Confused may I ask what fisheries has to do with UKIP (kippers)!

Rebecca2014 · 10/05/2014 18:20

UKIP are not an racist party, they do attract some racist people but they usually get suspended etc.

I rather my daughter believed in freedom of speech then become an judgemental rabid leftie who believes no one should have an different opinion to them.

bigdeal · 10/05/2014 18:21

gotnotimeforthat well said , i know loads of people voting ukip , and they are not fuckwits its their choice .

somewheresomehow · 10/05/2014 18:21

I do wonder where you get your facts from OP ?

funnyossity · 10/05/2014 18:23

Oh it's some tiny thing Winkabout rights to fisheries in UK waters. Not really an MN issue!

I'm old enough to vaguely remember the Icelandic Cod Wars..

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 10/05/2014 18:23

My neighbour has a UKIP sign. It is at least this time as far away from my house as possible unlike last time when people thought it was mine.

However if one person asks me about why I have a UKIP sign this time it is going to vanish one night in mysterious circumstances.

OddBoots · 10/05/2014 18:26

Rebecca2014 - what makes you think that people on the left don't believe in free speech?

LEMmingaround · 10/05/2014 18:26

They are definitely there somewhere I can take pictures if you like. But I do think thier misogyny, homophobic , racist and disablist views have been well presented in the media.

Don't forget LEM that the Meeja also have their own agenda/s Grin

Scarletohello · 10/05/2014 18:28

What I find scary about this is that a lot of people seem to think that voting UKIP is just a protest vote. It isn't. They have a lot of policies that actually would disadvantage the very working class people that are drawn towards them ( flat rate of income tax for example ) But they have very cleverly played upon people's fears on what his happening to this country and are using immigrants as scapegoats. Any woman who is thinking of voting UKIP really needs to think again as they are anti women and want to drag us back to the 1950s. Is that really what you want? Immigration is NOT the cause of people's ( legitimate) grievances but they are an easy target. Don't vote for them, you WILL regret it...!
