It is a pretty working class street, some council, some privately owned houses. Not sure if that is relevant but WHY the fuck would you advertise the fact that you are a fuckwit? All of the people with the notices up are older people - older than me, which is 43 (im not older!!!! - ok, maybe a bit).

Its pretty worrying really that what i would normally see as very respectable folk have been sucked in by this bullshit?

This is a conservative ward, and although dissilussioned with the previous gov i have always voted labour - i am going to have to vote bloody tory in a half beat effort to keep Ukip out of the area :(

My DD lives in a town with a ukip counsellor - its fucking dire and getting worse :(

Hitler didn't get into power by protest votes against other parties. Read your history.

What exactly are you basing that on, StarGazeyPond? Pretty much every historian working currently has identified the protest vote against the Weimar parties as a crucial aspect of the rise of the Nazi party.

OK Janine perhaps I am wrong Confused - but the point is that they got in because the other parties weren't listening then. (Is that better?)

If LibLabCon don't want people to vote UKIP, why haven't they given us a referendum on EU membership already? That would completely take the wind out of UKIPs sales. The fact that they haven't, and all 3 "main" parties are taking the same line, is why people are voting UKIP. Labour SHOULD be vehemently anti-EU. Tony Benn was, and a lot of people paying tribute to him recently seemed to ignore this. People want out. Give us the choice to control our own destiny.

"working hard at jobs no one here wants to do"
What jobs are these? All jobs? Or just some jobs? Because you will always find someone who wants to do a job if it pays enough money.

I am horrified by UKIP's politics and so yes, I will be upset if it turns out lots of people round my way support them. I don't enjoy the thought that people I smile at every day hold views that appall me. UKIP has too much in common with the far right for my liking, and I find many views espoused by UKIP candidates such as Roger Helmer to be utterly, hatefully repugnant. Of course people can vote for who they choose, and they can put up posters for who they choose, and I have every right to dislike their politics and think less of them for it.

Yes, I'm worried and upset that UKIP have gained the support they have, because I think they're fucking terrible. My voicing that opinion doesn't stop anyone voting for them, so why all the wittering about democracy? Are we not supposed to have strong feelings and argue about politics now? It's not like choosing a brand of fucking cornflakes.

Stargazey, if putting political leaflets through people's doors is harassment, can I do UKIP for the pile of rubbish they inflicted on me?

I am in care work, my DH used to work for a food producer in Lincolnshire and there are a disproportionate number of Eastern Europeans working in the fields harvesting veg and in the food factories. The local British young people just do not want to do it. There are other industries I'm sure; cleaning springs to mind. Lots of low paid jobs, but jobs where long hours are attainable.

but my main point was that they are not benefits sponging leeches responsible for ruining Great Britain. They come here to work and have a better life than back home.

Here in Scotland, Farage and his party are not well received. I think they got something like 0.9% of the vote last time round, and it's frankly quite scary to think that they are polling so high in the rUK.

We are amazed and shocked to see the amount of face time he's getting on BBC News.

Icimoi - you can put what you like (apart from dog shit) through people's doors..........but if you are doing it to openly antagonize them and attack them for their FREE THINKING and opinions, then that IS harrassment.

Lacka, recent EU Immigration has been great for many British businesses.

The population is growing but housing supply is limited, school rolls are increasing in part due to immigration, likewise the increase in birth rate is attributed in part to immigration. I don't think working 60-70 hours a week on a zero hours contract is an economic model that will build a healthy society (or even an efficient economy with productivity comparable to the best - chucking cheap labour at problems is a short term solution.)

There was a report this week about women over 50 struggling to find work. I've noticed part-time work with a regular shift is rare ; those zero-hours contracts have squeezed out people with other commitments who otherwise could be working. Great for business flexibility, less good for many people.

Stargazey, telling people the facts about the policies of the party they claim to support is not attacking them for free thinking. Interesting that you feel that UKIP supporters would be so scared of those facts.

But that's the point, isn't it? Immigrants tend to do the shitty jobs that pay very little money.

But those jobs would pay more money if it wasn't for immigrants willing to do them for minimum wage! Who do you think did them prior to 2004?

look it depends on the councillor our ukip councillor is awful our conservative councillors robbed us literally liberal democrats actually sued the council because she tripped over a path she herself deemed safe for children we will probably end up voting labour because he is a reputable man he is our only hope

ukip for many people represents a change from the government of today which is pretty dire unless you have money

Tucson, before 2004 it was still immigrants doing the low paid jobs. And before 1997, too. It's not a recent phenomenon, you know.

You are confusing me with someone else Icimoi - I didn't say that anywhere at all, did I? Why would they be scared of the 'facts' if they have decided to vote for them.

What I MIGHT have said is that they don't CARE about the facts and will STILL vote with their feet and voices.....to be heard, to be heard, to be heard!
