NC because DP found out about mumsnet! just to be safe Grin

The guys came in to fix the phones at work today. I can have a laugh with them. I can talk to them.
But now, I won't.
The guy said "How are you today?"
I said: "I'm tired, me. DP was on the xbox all night"
he made a weird face. then he asked me, when are you learning to drive?
and I said, "when DP gets a job"
He replied with: "Bin him. get someone with money!"

NONONO. You DO NOT say that to someone. I LOVE my partner and I do not appreciate this at all. We live with our parents so not having a job is no problem at the minute, no DCs, no house of our own as of yet. DP is going in the forces. I don't give a flying fuck about money. Yes, I'd like to be spoiled, but just being with him, to me, is being spoiled. Being told to "bin" my DP because I can't afford to drive and he was on the xbox is completely disgusting to say to a person.
AIBU to be COMPLETELY SEETHING about this?!

I get now IABU. i didn't step back and think about it. but, I am really BU. I do this a lot.
Normally, it doesn't matter whether there is a film on, or a game (i play games too) I can sleep.
Last night, My head was booming so he muted the telly. I put my eye mask on and I still couldn't sleep. It really has nothing to do with DP. I just said when DP gets a job I will learn to drive, I don't see the problem? Haha.

why is he playing Xbox in the bedroom when you have to get up for work in the morning Hmm?

I think the phone man sounded concerned (now I know his age) - he probably wouldn't want to think of his daughter with someone who sounds inconsiderate, to say the least. Unemployed and keeping his partner up all night playing video games - what a catch, eh? That's how it comes across on the face of it.

TalisaMaegyr · 06/05/2014 12:33

Do you have to pay housekeeping to your parents?

LineRunner · 06/05/2014 12:33

You said you were skint. I feel sorry for you, especially if you can't learn to drive because your boyfriend is taking money off you.

redandchecker · 06/05/2014 12:34

You don't feel dragged down by him but you are struggling today and in an utterly awful mood because he was inconsiderate enough to keep you up all night playing computer games whilst you had to get up in the morning to support you both.

Money is nothing to you but you are feeling shit and stressed out because your pay is gone within ten days. You do see why we aren't understanding don't you OP?

My best friend was in a situation similar to yours, he was always on the xbox they only had a room within her parents home and she was working full time whilst he was 'looking' anyway this 'looking' carried on until she was pregnant, so did the xbox playing when she was heavily pregnant and needed to get up to work to support their family and it never stopped until she kicked him out with a DC now aged 18 months.

I really hope this won't be the case for you OP and he does join the forces like he says he will. In the meantime, I would ask him to turn off the fucking xbox whilst you sleep.

One word of advice. Learn to drive now. Not when do gets a job. It can take months to learn and the longer you leave it the more chance that things will just get in the way and you will end up like me. In my thirties u able to drive spending hundreds a month on travel.

Do it

JaackSparroww · 06/05/2014 12:35

no, he lives with his parents, I live with mine.
Come on, is that too hard to think of? ahah.

The x-box story makes it sound like you cohabit.

TalisaMaegyr · 06/05/2014 12:36

So one of you was staying over at the other one's parents? In which case, one of you should have gone home so you could get some kip!

JaackSparroww · 06/05/2014 12:37

Yeah, ever heard of staying over at someone's house? I live with my parents but stay at his on weekends.
this has gotten really out of hand
CorusKate are you as stupid as I am?

Which branch if the Forces is he going into?

JaackSparroww · 06/05/2014 12:37

Does it? I didn't know. If it was my house the xbox wouldn't be in the bedroom.

OP posts:
JaackSparroww · 06/05/2014 12:37

I think when a lot of people hear about a grown man being on an X box all night, never mind keeping someone awake who has to go out to work the next morning, it doesn't create a good impression. I have to say that sort of man is quite a specialised choice - I can't imagine many women would go for that sort of behaviour and I find it astonishing that you put up with it.

RiverTam · 06/05/2014 12:38

so he came over to yours and stayed the night in order to play Xbox in your bedroom? No, still not making any sense.

TalisaMaegyr · 06/05/2014 12:38

Erm.... is there any need to be so rude? I was actually feeling sorry for you. Bollocks to you.

Why do you keep "laughing" after every sentence? What is the joke?

Gileswithachainsaw · 06/05/2014 12:39

Omg so there was actually a choice? You could hae gone home??

Well do is an idiot for spending hours on the x box but your a bigger idiot for staying there when you could have gone home.
