Hi,

I am still here and reading, thanks for the advice and opinions. I will update properly in the morning, just thought I should start a new thread.

We haven't gone to the press yet, and nobody has shared on Facebook so not sure where that came from.

The nursery have been in touch and said they will be telling parents (because ofsted require them to) so that is good. Although I imagine the papers will get hold of it now once all the parents know. sigh

Hi all,

Dd seems ok, a little clingy and occasionally mentions it and looks a little upset and worried which is heartbreaking, but she's ok. I am still at the uncomprehending fury stage, and dp is a little traumatised since he was the one who found her and keeps having horrible nightmares. But we are muddling along and have had lots of real life support.

It's now a waiting game while they investigate and find out what happened. No new developments today, I am making flapjacks with dd. :-)

It sounds like you're doing a good job with her and not making it any bigger than it has to be. When she starts a new setting, she'll probably ask for lots of reassurance that she won't be left again. I moved my DD from a pre-school where the manager kept yelling at the children and she asked me for months whether she had to go back there and whether anyone at the new pre-school would get cross like xxxx.

I hope you feel satisfied with the outcome of the investigation. Have you decided on a new setting for her?

Flapjack baking sounds perfect...

I would think your feelings are perfectly normal under awful circumstances

Assuming it's the same story and the same hasn't happened twice this has now made the Liverpool echo

Looks like the same thing to me

I think it has to be the same, surely - too many of the details match up. Glad it's been in the press and equally glad that the OP and her DD have not been named.

OP, was so sorry to read about your DDs ordeal on the previous thread. I am glad that you are being taken seriously by the authorities and they are investigating.

The newspaper article (I assume it is relating your ordeal) says some significant things particularly regarding not replacing leaving staff and using casual or agency staff until the funding issue is dealt with. When staff don't know the children, routines or procedures and don't really have a vested interest in learning them because they are only there for a short time then this is where accidents or errors can occur.

I also note from the article that all parents who use the service have been notified by letter.

Hopefully this SureStart Nursery can now get the proper funding it requires in order to function properly, with trained permanent staff at legal levels.

Just saw the newspaper article, I wont post a link, in case that makes you too identifiable.

I agree with tabby, some very telling information on how things have been run.

I hope DD has completely forgotten her "adventure" and you & dp are coping ok.

Also it's good to see the newspaper article to prove that you were telling the truth!

That newspaper article is pretty damning about the set up of the nursery. It sounds like the same issues may be in place at other sure start nurseries in the area. Obviously I wouldn't expect the other nurseries to lock a child in, but they don't sound adequate given the staffing issues.

I don't know what you an to do OP, but I think I would look for a non-sure start nursery or CM so that they have continuity of staff.

I hope all the troll hunters on the other thread will now come and apologise to the OP.

I also accept that today's the day I might see a flying pig.

I hope you all start to feel better soon and that serious changes are made at the nursery in question.

Pigbin what a totally ridiculous and uncalled for thing to post. Who made you Boss Of Making Sure All Threads Are Truthful and who are you that you need proof? Hmm.

To be fair, I suspect Pigbin's post was directed at all the people who suggested this was made up.
