Dd left at nursery part 2

Hi,

I am still here and reading, thanks for the advice and opinions. I will update properly in the morning, just thought I should start a new thread.

We haven't gone to the press yet, and nobody has shared on Facebook so not sure where that came from.

The nursery have been in touch and said they will be telling parents (because ofsted require them to) so that is good. Although I imagine the papers will get hold of it now once all the parents know. sigh

and I'm horrified that people are being all gloaty and "I told you so" at the posters who were sceptical, when really the safety of the OPs DD and other children at the nursery is the important thing. How safe will the OP feel if she is outed as a result of linking press reports?

I'm not sure that linking the paper article here is entirely the right thing to do. If the press do get hold of the OPs name then this thread can be linked and she will be outed in a pretty big way.

i think if i were the op i would need to clarify to the paper that she was NOT late to pick up their child - but that the nursery had assumed all the children had gone home and left early. its unfair that some people are still blaming the OP when she is totally blameless.

Same here. It doesn't seem that difficult a concept to grasp!

The OP arrived, the staff thought all the children had left and had locked up early and gone home. Normal procedure in early years settings when all the children have been collected. Not so normal when there's still one little one in the toilets though.

The nursery obviously assumed all the kids had gone home so locked up. That's pretty scary to me not just because the OP's daughter was left there but because it raises the question of how long had she been forgotten for.

How did they forget she was there? It just makes no sense to me. Someone is supposed to be watching the kids. Who took her to bathroom? How did that person take OP's DD to the bathroom and then forget she was there? Did s/he tell someone else to take over and then go home? How long was she forgotten about? It's horrifying.

That newspaper article is pretty damning about the set up of the nursery. It sounds like the same issues may be in place at other sure start nurseries in the area. Obviously I wouldn't expect the other nurseries to lock a child in, but they don't sound adequate given the staffing issues.

I don't know what you an to do OP, but I think I would look for a non-sure start nursery or CM so that they have continuity of staff.

I hope DD has completely forgotten her "adventure" and you & dp are coping ok.
