Sorry I know I'm probably being unreasonable but why is EVERYWHERE closed?! I really hate Easter. (To me it's a a day for kids and religious people)

The bloke who plays Spidey is such a weak, whimpering, watery - eyed little prat. Looking forward to "Fargo" later. It got good reviews on the snooty cultural radio 4 review show last night.

Aren't the trading laws supposed to promote fair market competition for smaller retailers??

CremeEggThief · 20/04/2014 15:22

YABU. Just chill out and enjoy it.

JustPassingThru · 20/04/2014 15:22

AllMimsy - I was just thinking about that ... Tony Hancock's take on Sundays was funny because it was absolutely spot on. Definitely worth a listen. REminds me of some childhood Sundays. DF was self-employed and worked some Sundays. Other Sundays he dozed off after lunch ... Sundays were very dull.

DF used to tell me he spent childhood Sundays with great aunts, and had to read the bible. This was between the world wars, so no TV and maybe not even a radio.

Mind you I can hardly complain: I'm in Scotland so we did our weekly Tesco shop this morning and have been sitting in the sun since.

I think YABU OP.

There must be something you could do other than shop on a Sunday?

We got up early this a.m. and went to the tip. (exciting, I know!) so they were open. Then after two car loads of that - we called in at the local co-op for breakfast ingredients.

Have spent a couple of hours car washing, gardening and visiting the GPs.

Dinner was pre-planned- and is ready to be cooked shortly.

It's a nice family day - when most of the country (apart from those who work in small shops or the council tip?) can spend it together.

I worked weekends for many years- (beginning when the Sunday supermarket openings started - double money on a Sunday back then!) so I appreciate having the time off.

sourdrawers · 20/04/2014 15:37

Phhwwwooaarrrr. ElseaStars He's mine, you can have this one ...

ElseaStars · 20/04/2014 15:39

Lazypepper there are plenty of things I can do today but I want to go shopping. I don't like the shops being closed because of a Christian holiday I don't enjoy or celebrate.

Sourdrawers you can have him I prefer Thor

ForalltheSaints · 20/04/2014 15:45

I am glad the shops are closed. Even John Keats nearly 200 years ago realised there is more to live than 'getting and spending'.
