to think the morbidly obese woman at work should stop telling people they are losing too much weight?

There is a woman at work who is seriously morbidly obese. She is trying to lose weight. She has managed 1/2 stone since January. There are quite a few people at work who want to lose weight and have started to go running together. 3 of them have lost a significant amount of weight and now fall into the normal BMI.

We have a staff kitchen and sitting area and she has been talking to the people who have lost weight one by one and advising them not to lose any more weight and that they didn't need to lose any weight anyway.

Another guy has done the fasting diet and lost a amazing 4 stone. She has told him it is seriously unhealthy and he will get brain damage.

AIBU to think she should just shut up and focus on herself?

How can you tell when someone is a first time poster or they've just name changed?

Genuine question btw. Is it possible?

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 05/04/2014 14:16

Its allowed waterfalls.

Worra. No.

First time poster or namechanged to post provocative thread are similar IMO.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 05/04/2014 14:17

Yes people are entitled to their opinion..if thats what they are posting.

almondcake · 05/04/2014 14:21

And highly usual behaviour for MN is for bunch of well known posters to gang up on a poster and report to MN collectively to make the thread seem worse than it is.

slithytove · 05/04/2014 14:22

I've been pregnant since jan and I've lost more than half a stone! (Sw midwife sanctioned)

I'm also a fatty. But just as much as I don't like comments on my weight, I don't like to comment on others. I think the woman described in OP is being rude regardless of her weight. The fact that she is overweight and not losing much just makes it seems like sour grapes, though of course it may not be.

Chippednailvarnish · 05/04/2014 14:23

Holla is right, frankly I could go to the loo and drop half a stone after a big night out!

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 05/04/2014 14:24

Or individually think something is suspicious. As they have been here a while.

I don't even know who else reported it.

Being well known or not is irrelevant.

Quite a schoolgirl thing to say.

Am pretty confident I am not a sheeplike kind of poster and just do and say what I am thinking whether others are or not.

Waterfalls1 · 05/04/2014 14:24

Why don't you offer to go to the gym with her and then when she is able to, she can join the rest of the office in the running sessions?

She doesnt want to go to the gym. She is looking into buying an exercise bike so she can exercise at home which I think is positive as she often works late and then going to the gym can be a bit much

OK thanks Fanjo I thought I was missing something Blush

Exactly, I am pleased MNHQ saw exactly what was happening here and didn't stop the thread

Worra..no..I assume MN can tell though.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 05/04/2014 14:30

Even more frequent behaviour is for people to bitch about Royalty when they are huffy that more than one person has taken issue with their thread.

Waterfalls1 · 05/04/2014 14:30

I think a lot us feel the same way Nunq. The woman in question hates comments on her weight but she loves to comment on others weights. She has even called others chubby Shock

Seven pounds weight loss in three months is prob not bad going if you have pcos or insulin resistance. Takes a he'll.of a lot of willpower to.keep on going when weight loss is so difficult.

Waterfalls1 · 05/04/2014 16:17

She talks a lot about her diet and how much weight she has lost. Everyone is very encouraging but getting tired of her putting others peoples weight loss down

OP posts:
MistressDeeCee · 05/04/2014 16:31

YANBU. She is giving out bad advice. She's dieting, isn't she. As a person with weight issues herself she should know people who are trying to lose weight and improve their health don't need bad advice. At all. I wouldn't worry about it though, they're all probably thinking 'she's jealous'. So thats that, really

SoleSource · 05/04/2014 17:34

Twenty four stone Woman here...

The morbidly obese woman is BU.

Waterfalls1 · 05/04/2014 17:56

Thank you for your opinion SoleSource

I really wasn't being sizist

OP posts:
SoleSource · 05/04/2014 18:11

I do not think you were too. She is rude.

Waterfalls1 · 05/04/2014 18:17

I thought she was too. The dieters have been getting fed up of being told off when they are actually doing really well
