To think dresses are the best things to wear

Because it's a whole outfit
No thinking does this top go with this bottom

No annoying things on the waist

Probably cheaper buying a dress then two items

I love dresses and my wardrobe is full of them. I feel incredibly feminine wearing one and there is no mix and matching of tops to bottoms. I'm off shopping tomorrow to buy some more Wink

Bunbaker · 04/04/2014 17:37

"What about the wind?
The slightest waft of breeze and whoosh! you end up flashing your knickers to everyone.
I hardly ever wear dresses for that reason."

It depends on the style of dress. If you wear short, skater style dresses then that will happen. I don't wear short, skater style dresses so I don't get that problem.

Weegiemum · 04/04/2014 17:41

I can't walk in heels (medical reasons - I have no sense of balance) so in winter I wear a dress with boots, and the rest of the year, mainly converse (though I've just taken delivery of some Vans and I'm loving them!)

expatinscotland · 04/04/2014 17:42

I love them! My legs are my best feature.

QueenStromba · 04/04/2014 18:32

I live in dresses. Actually, I live in three different colours of the same dress plus some summery dresses. I'm a big boobed overweight apple so empire line or dresses with knots between the boobs look best on me and anything that draws attention to my non-existent waist is a no-no. I'm probably quite similar in shape to Kirsty Allsop who also lives in dresses and looks great despite being a bit porky.

FracturedViewOfLife · 04/04/2014 19:01

I live in dresses and DMs.

charitygirl · 04/04/2014 19:03

So true - in my mid-30s I have gone from being a dress-dodger to wearing them at work 75% of the time.

iklboo · 04/04/2014 19:16

Used to be not very keen on dresses. Now I've shifted 5 stone I have loads of 'em.

Waltonswatcher1 · 04/04/2014 20:16

Still bf toddler so have avoided dresses but this summer I am desperate to wear them again . I am going to get v necked ones with easy boob access .
Yeah for a jersey dress with a bit if stretch over the bust .

BurnThisDiscoDown · 04/04/2014 22:25

I love dresses but have a fat belly so just look pregnant :(

expatinscotland · 04/04/2014 23:28

Right now, I lust for this

ouryve · 04/04/2014 23:33

YABU. They're bloody draughty.

stuckindamiddle · 04/04/2014 23:35

marking place

Caitlin17 · 05/04/2014 01:00

I love dresses. I have no idea how many I have. Dresses for all seasons, posh, formal , work, casual. I wear dresses more than any other garment. I don't own trousers or jeans.

Caitlin17 · 05/04/2014 01:17

I'm pleased to see I'm not the only non jeans/non trousers owner.

When I started work as a legal trainee in 1982 the office had a no trouser suits for professional female staff rule. Obviously they had to ditch that but in my whole working life I've only owned 2 trouser suits.

Dresses seem to be far more popular in the last few years with the younger staff. There was a time you'd never see a girl trainee in a dress, now they are far more likely to wear dress than trousers.

RabbitPies · 05/04/2014 01:19

I hate them. I never wear them,or skirts. I think it's been about a decade since I last wore a skirt, and probably two decades since I wore a dress.

squoosh · 05/04/2014 01:22

Knee length dresses with sleeves are my true love.

Can't stand those bloody skater dresses that are everywhere these days.

MyBaby1day · 05/04/2014 04:26

YADNBU, I really think they are. I started to appreciate them much more last year after having a lovely summer and wearing them all the way through. I now collect them as a hobby too. I have a severe Scoliosis and need surgery soon Sad and so there are a couple that (at the moment) don't look quite right on me but after surgery they will! Smile. But yes, they are great and I LOVE that part of being a girl. Have you seen the Lolita dresses from Japan too?, oh wow!.

aurynne · 05/04/2014 06:07

YABU! They are very comfortable, but they force you to use "formal" footwear, they rarely have pockets and, most important of all... you need to have shaved legs at all times!

NuggetofPurestGreen · 05/04/2014 10:27

Not when it's cold though aurynne. Black tights and knew high flat boots Smile

Blackmouse · 06/04/2014 07:13

Expat I like that oasis dress they have some great stuff in atm

TheSkiingGardener · 06/04/2014 07:47

The only dresses I own are for black tie. Much prefer trousers. I have enormous boobs, and a big stomach but of have a waist. Dresses that actually go over my boobs make me look like a sack of potatoes.

Bodicea · 06/04/2014 07:52

I miss dresses. Have been breastfeeding for what feels like forever and have to wear separates.
Can't wait for the summer as live in d readers then (and will hopefully have removed child from the boob by that point).

HolidayCriminal · 06/04/2014 08:09

Could we have a dress intervention thread, could you enthusiasts start one? To help those of us who would like to wear more dresses, but...

I'm truly open-minded and have had some in past I liked but problems...

I am always cold; I will need a vest underneath & a cardigan or jumper over it. Yet I have a small waist I would like to feature. I can wear leggings underneath for warmth.

I have chunky legs, so prefer a bit of length so legs not so obvious.

Oh, and I have to be able to cycle while wearing it (can change footwear, not bothered about that).

I think I need shopping help (I hate shopping & Dressippi only links to expensive stuff).

Sirzy · 06/04/2014 08:13

Since losing weight I have gained a new love of dresses. Only issue is the lack of pockets!

I love the boohoo maxi dresses at the moment. Cheap and simple.

Also got some lovely skater dresses
