To think dresses are the best things to wear

Because it's a whole outfit
No thinking does this top go with this bottom

No annoying things on the waist

Probably cheaper buying a dress then two items

I always wear dresses to work. They suit my body shape and it's much easier in the morning just having to find a pair of tights.

lessonsintightropes · 04/04/2014 10:06

I wear them every day. Monsoon and Joules best for dresses with sleeves!

ByTheSea · 04/04/2014 10:06

Dresses never fit me well.

HoneyDragon · 04/04/2014 10:07

I can't wear uggs with a dress

I have nowhere to put a hanky, telephone and dog biscuits in a dress.

I have to wear tights, tights are a fucking minefield of sizing and purchasing errors.

I can't wear a long top the next day to cover stains.

BigBoobiedBertha · 04/04/2014 10:10

I don't know if everybody had the same view but there is an advert for East on the right hand side of the screen which I just clicked on. There are some lovely dresses but there isn't a single one I could actually wear. They are either too short in the body, too short in length, too high necked or the wrong material (dresses with no give won't work). There is never the right combination of attributes that make a dress wearable for me.

TulipOHare · 04/04/2014 10:10

You can get knee-length dresses with long sleeves from Mistral , though the patterns won't be for everyone.

I like dresses in the winter with tights and boots and a boxy jumper. I dream of being able to throw on a sundress and go bare-legged, but have never been able to because of a hereditary skin condition that affects my legs only Hmm they can be made semi-OK with an intensive regime of scrubbing, buffing, shaving and moisturising, but I have never managed to get them up to the effortlessly smooth standards so many people take for granted Envy

GiveItALashJack · 04/04/2014 10:10

As a fat short apple with legs that look like burst sausages... YABVVVU!!!

Ploppy16 · 04/04/2014 10:27

Joe Browns is my friend at the moment. It's only as I've got older I'm appreciating dresses really, I lived in jeans for years but now I'm approaching 40 dresses are becoming more and more prominent in my wardrobe.

HarderThanYouThink · 04/04/2014 10:43

I love dresses. When its cold i wear them with tights and ankle boots

In summer i wear either midi dresses or short ones with sandals.

For work i wear a nice mid length dress, either heels or flats and a smart blazer.

Love dresses

IKnowAMouse · 04/04/2014 10:47

I love a dress

Kirsty Allsopp only ever wears dresses.

MarrogfromMars · 04/04/2014 10:51

I love dresses but can only wear them with boots in cold weather on sandals in hot weather, otherwise I can't find anything comfortable to wear on my feet with them.

SanityClause · 04/04/2014 10:51

YANBU.

I love dresses. I have about 10 or so for work (some wintery, some summery, and some can be worn pretty much all year round).

Dress, tights, shoes, and you're dressed. You can accessorise, of course if you can be bothered.

Polarn · 04/04/2014 11:06

Aah, yes me too bardette... The joys of having a girl after a 4yr old boy!

Namechangeforamo · 04/04/2014 11:10

Yanbu. Love dresses for work as they are an instant outfit. Also love them for off days, so comfy

Beastofburden · 04/04/2014 11:15

Nice to find other ppl who like dresses. I am at maybe the xtreme end, in that I dont own a single pair of trousers. I hate the way I look from behind in them, and no I am not being modest.

Hard to find a dress that covers the boobs enough without being hot and frumpy. But dress+cardi+opaques+flats or boots for everyday and heels for a big meeting- It's what I wear. Sleeves I can take or leave as I always have a cardi anyway, and sleeves just mean it needs washing/cleaning more often.

Main problem is that time of year when its too hot for opaques and you have to shell out for bastard expensive tights that ladder.

formerbabe · 04/04/2014 11:58

Yes I agree...even if a dress is £60 or over it still works out cheaper than buying a top/jeans

NuggetofPurestGreen · 04/04/2014 12:08

I love dresses but as i am an apple shape can't get them to suit. Prefer separates as can buy two different sizes.

AnnaLegovah · 04/04/2014 12:09

YABU. Cant understand how dresses are 'easier' when it means having to shave your legs.

NuggetofPurestGreen · 04/04/2014 12:09

Or wear tights. And a cardi probably.

126sticks · 04/04/2014 12:16

Do you get on with an electric shaver?
Quite like mine!

126sticks · 04/04/2014 12:17

I have come to like dresses too.
But I am of a certain age, past babies.

I wouldnt wear dresses for years, as all the next generation up seemed to wear them a lot, which put me off them for decades.

Beastofburden · 04/04/2014 12:18

i dont think they are easier. I often crave the babygro look (aka jeans and a t shirt) and I think it can look really classy and elegant.

but, sadly, not on me. I have a huge arse and it is just embarrassing. Probably they can still see my huge arse in a dress but at least there is less detail

JoStrom · 04/04/2014 12:29

There's a pattern here. Those of us who hate tights hate find dresses a chore or a no no. I love the economy of thought with a dress as per the OP's comments.

I also love tights so weekends or office it's always a dress for me with the right hose, opaque or semi sheer ad appropriate, though one does have to know what type suits one's body type given that as has been highlighted, sizes, lengths and styles can be a minefield...

BigBoobiedBertha · 04/04/2014 12:35

I have no problem with tights, I shave my legs regularly and I love skirts but I can't get on with dresses. I find them restrictive, having something that covers me from neck to knee (at least) - everything moves with you. I bought a jersey dress for my graduation 3.5 yrs ago. It looked OK but I haven't worn it since. There is just too much of it for just one garment. I'd rather have it split into two.
