To think dresses are the best things to wear

Because it's a whole outfit
No thinking does this top go with this bottom

No annoying things on the waist

Probably cheaper buying a dress then two items

YABU - Separates all the way (skirt/trousers and a top). You have far more choices about what to wear for the same money as a dress and you can dress more appropriately for the weather.

Plus dresses don't suit everybody because we aren't an identical shape. A lot of people are hard pushed to find one with short sleeves (my pet hate - they all seem to be sleeveless or occasionally have long sleeves) or that go in the right place or that is the right length or is the right colour. Separates give you so many more choices to get clothes that fit properly. I can't find any, that fit properly. I actually like things that go in at the waist too so your point about nothing 'annoying' on the waist doesn't work because if they don't go in at the waitst, I look like a sack of potatoes. The curse of having a proper waist and being pear shaped I suppose.

And I agree they can be impractical if you are chasing around after a small child or have an active lifestyle with lots of stretching. If you life your arms up, the whole dress goes up with it instead of just the top.

And they are expensive to fork out for as a single item.

I would love to wear more dresses but it isn't going to happen any time soon.

Not a fan of dresses.

I have a couple of jumper dresses, which I wear with opaques in the winter, or they're long enough to get away with bare legs when it warms up a bit, and a couple of maxi dresses and skirts for the summer, but I never feel particularly comfortable in them.

I never really know what to do with them and feel a bit silly - it was OK when I worked in an office, they were smart and formal, but I now work from home and they don't look quite right when all I'm doing is walking the dog/going to a PTA meeting/whizzing round Sainsbury's.

If I'm going out-out they're fine, I just can't pull off a casual dress

If your bf, which I am, I go for a lightweight knitted wrap dress, then wear under Neath a nursing vest

Great

It's nice and warm but not too hot

I only wear dresses at the mo. I do find that I put on weight if I only wear dresses though & can no longer fit into my jeans. It is harder to regulate my weight when wearing dresses, due to not having to do up a waistband..mine has increased rather a lot.

I wish the ones in the shops weren't so sodding short. It is fine in the Winter when my legs are covered up, but not in the Summer.

I love dresses too. I get mine from Dorothy Perkins and New Look.

I love dresses but hate heels (I do a lot of walking and cycling). Just discovered flat boots that look good though so YANBU

Only wear dresses when its maxi dress weather. Cant do anything that isn't long as I have hideous legs.

I too have long body short legs. THe empire type style is best at sorting this out, so it balances out the body.

Im a recent dress convert and yes, way easier and more comfy.

In summer when you can wear sandals and no tights - only!

And I totally agree for the need for nice longer, cotton, non bra showing summer dresses for the older less slim amongst us.

Sleeves are good, but not essential, but please, please, please bodices cut to cover a normal bra. Not deep Vs, low backs and shoe string straps and no arm holes that almost reach the waist

No, I find them far worse than separates, I hate skirts too. It's the footwear - I can't wear heels and my sturdy calves look very chunky indeed in flats and a skirt or dress. Any that are long enough to hide them are a tripping hazard. Plus they flap about, you have to be careful how you sit, how you bend over to reach into the car. I also hate tights.

Generally I love them.

But they're a complete PITA for bfing so I don't wear them at the moment.

Yanbu, I only wear dresses!
Don't even own a single pair of jeans/trousers any more.
I find them so comfortable, versatile, flattering and the easiest thing to wear. I'm no good at matching things, or choosing separates. I hate jeans shopping and find buying dresses so easy.
And easy to stick a cardi on, or a pair of tights/leggings and boots or whatever when it's Cold.
I'm no fashion guru though, and have no idea whether or not I look any good, I just wear what I like.

Any good examples of nice dresses I can bf in? I lived in dresses before I had my dd and had to buy a pair of jeans.

I wish they made more shirtwaisters for summer. That style looks good on me (quite big boobs, small waist), but the ones with buttons all the way down the front are a complete pain. I either forget and pop off the bottom buttons if I cross my legs, or feel like I'm walking around with my skirt slit to mid thigh!

I do agree about waists not always being in the right place. I wouldn't say I'm that tall (5'6") or particularly long bodied, but I quite often find the waists on things sits around the bottom of my ribs.

So YABU and YANBU. YANBU if you have enough nice dresses that fit well!

I don't have a single sleeveless dress in my collection of 30 odd frocks. ASOS, Zara, Jaeger, Top Shop, French Conmection etc do sell sleeves!

They are all above the knee however.

I've really got into dresses recently, was finding jeans so uncomfortable. But I don't do bare legs so bit concerned how this is going to work over the summer!

I've actually only got 3, struggling to find more I like - 5'2, big boobs, fat tummy but small waist if that makes sense. Got a couple from Joy which are lovely but that's it really. I like tea dresses and skater dresses but they can be very short!

I have at least a dozen dresses in my wardrobe but I only wear one about half a dozen times a year, either for smart occasions when I have to, or just because it seems like a good idea, then I wear one and remember why I never normally do it and put them away again, I'm definitely happiest in jeans.

I suit wrap dresses but struggle to find ones that contain my boobs properly! If I go up a size it's then too big everywhere else.
The other issue I have with dresses is that so many in the shops now have a high neckline which frankly just makes me look matronly. Designers really need to make dresses for those of us who are curvy and need help containing our boobs.

For breastfeeding a dress with buttons at the front is fine. Or one of the cross over in stretchy fabric types.

I love dresses but mainly wear them in summer, it's lovely to wear a dress and sandals and not have to flaff around with anything else. I do have some winter dresses but feel more snug and warm in jeans and a jumper when it's really cold out.
