aibu to think that I could front a campaign for clinique? I need the money, and considering that I manage do a better job of selling their products than the clinique salesladies, surely I should be able to make some moeny by modelling for them.

I am 38 and have NO idea if I look my age or older (don't think younger). I have a few fine lines, but not wrinkles. Most ageing for me are my rapidly appearing grey temples and crap hair. I use SPF30 every day, although I don't avoid the sun completely. It is important to me to look young, but I haven't figured out why yet!

Stinklebell · 01/04/2014 12:51

Good genes here as well.

Nearly 40 and no wrinkles, a bit of moisturiser and I always use sunglasses but I don't do anything else

My mum is 65 and doesn't really have any apart from a few lines around her eyes when she laughs. My Gran is 96 and looks about 76

Suzannewithaplan · 01/04/2014 12:58

I want to see pictures of the septugenarians who look 40 Hmm

Nancy66 · 01/04/2014 13:06

me too Suzanne - have a feeling I may beg to differ!

I have a friend in her 50s who is convinced she could pass for late 20s. She can't. She looks good for her age but she's a 52 year old who might pass for 46.

nonmifairidere · 01/04/2014 13:07

Woman doesn't look her age shocker. (Oooo, nobody can believe I'm 40! Eyelash flutter I'm always being told I still look in my twenties. Slight shrug, head shake and modest giggle). Yes, that eternal youthful look is by far the most important quality to which we should all aspire. Hmm

Suzannewithaplan · 01/04/2014 13:09

I could pass for 20 years younger...in the dark with shades and a big hat so long as I kept my mouth shut cuz my deep ol' voice would probably out me :o

Suzannewithaplan · 01/04/2014 13:11

:o @ Non
You've hit the nail on the head

Ecclefechan · 01/04/2014 13:42

what does 40 look like? Or 35 or 50 or whatever?

It's like the Daily Mail sidebar of shame!

poii · 01/04/2014 14:59

Izzy I dont think you are one moment, with a sence of humor like that you could not be any more delightful or delicious.

poii · 01/04/2014 15:04

110 year old Lady in France a short time ago, talking of things said" I only have one wrinkle and I am sitting on it".

lainiekazan · 01/04/2014 15:14

I definitely think a few posters on here should get down to Poundland for some magnifying glasses. And then repost about whether they still look 22.

Also looking in a hotel bathroom's brightly-lit magnifying mirror is just the job if you need taking down a peg or two.

Imo everyone looks their age. I can always guess. Some people, granted, look much better than others the same age - but not younger.

squoosh · 01/04/2014 15:19

But some people do look younger than their age, that's just a fact.

Suzannewithaplan · 01/04/2014 15:36

people vary and age at different rates, some look more youthful than others.
I think it can only be established as a 'fact' if there is some agreed upon standard for each age by which people can be objectively measured.

We could ask 10 people and get 10 different answers,a person close to your own age will probably be more focused on what is normal or average for that age range.

When you judge a persons age you dont just look at the lines on the face, the way they dress, stand, speak, body shape etc.

SelectAUserName · 01/04/2014 15:38

I was asked for ID while buying an alcoholic product a week before my 40th birthday.

A new colleague thought I was on the cohort of the company graduate trainee scheme (max age 25) when I was 41.

Two of our new neighbours assumed I was my DH's daughter when we moved into our new house in January.

This isn't me fishing for compliments, it just happens... I just look young for my age. I'd rather look nearer my actual age of 43 and not be facing old age in a wheelchair though.

Nancy66 · 01/04/2014 15:39

some people look a bit younger. Absolutely nobody looks decades younger though.

Famzilla · 01/04/2014 15:39

I'm 24 and I already have eye wrinkles.

My mum had a sun bed and would put my brother on it every day because we "looked better with a tan".

Sigh.

squoosh · 01/04/2014 15:41

'My mum had a sun bed and would put my brother on it every day because we "looked better with a tan".'

I'm a bit Shock at that!

M1SSUNDERSTOOD · 01/04/2014 15:49

l now need varifocals as I have got to that age (45) according to my optician. Apart from that I have good for eyes so something to boast about :)

Famzilla · 01/04/2014 15:50

Yeah, I could fill a fair few threads with my mothers escapades. Needless to say I went NC a while ago.

Still, my body has built up quite a resistance to the sun. I could work in a sugar cane field no problem.

ouryve · 01/04/2014 15:52

Well, I've been using Clinique pretty much exclusively for about 15 years or so and have wrinkles a plenty at 44. Every summer, I gain a few more. Some would say that I need to use the moisturiser with spf in it, but that just brings me out in a horrible itchy rash, which doesn't look too great. At least my wrinkles give the impression that I might have enjoyed life a bit.

TruffleOil · 01/04/2014 15:58

My mum had a sun bed and would put my brother on it every day because we "looked better with a tan

LOL. So wrong, but terribly funny.

PipkinsPal · 01/04/2014 16:02

I'm 46 and I don't have deep wrinkles, just a few crinkles. I look much better in the evening than first thing in the morning. Gravity is amazing. Also the anti-wrinkle cream, eye gel, never smoking and careful sunbathing has helped. I would probably look 25 if I could afford and had the stomach to eat 7 portions of fruit and veg a day on top of the other foods I like to stuff my face with.

squoosh · 01/04/2014 16:08

There must be something in that Pipkins, a photographer told me that celebs, at least the ones that are known for their looks, never have their photo taken before 2pm.

PipkinsPal · 01/04/2014 16:14

Squoosh I scare myself when I look in the mirror most mornings but love myself to bits in the evening Grin

Ecclefechan · 01/04/2014 16:56

LOL at having crinkles not wrinkles (what's the difference?)

I am often mistaken for one of the children when I take the preschoolers out on trips.
