aibu to think that I could front a campaign for clinique? I need the money, and considering that I manage do a better job of selling their products than the clinique salesladies, surely I should be able to make some moeny by modelling for them.

I'm 39 tomorrow and look fucking ancient. Sigh.

TheBigBumTheory · 31/03/2014 22:43

We are all as young as we're ever going to look...

Melonade · 31/03/2014 23:06

The trouble is, OP and others, that looking young for age doesn't give any acclaim or recognition. Because people simply don't believe you. Or are too overcome by shock when you tell them the truth. Its something that's nice for yourself, but doesn't really give any benefits.

Personally, at 45 and constantly being mistaken for being in my early thirties, I would be most willing to do some real life modelling for cosmetics companies, in return for a small retainer, spa treatments and free stuff. Unfortunately every time I present myself, wrinkle-free, dewy skinned and clear eyed to their counter, the bastards compliment me to the hilt and then charge me the same as everyone else!

I once decided it would be a good idea to have some laser skin rejuvenation type treatment, to maintain my youthful looks, so went for a consultation with a doctor. He was clearly embarrassed, thought I had some kind of face-dysmorphia and dismissed me quickly by saying that there was nothing in my face to be treated, despite my age.

Melonade · 31/03/2014 23:08

BigBumTheory I look much younger, as some other posters on here will probably say too, than when I was in my thirties. In school photographs, I look like the oldest child there, possibly a year or two ahead at least. A lot of it is to do with being fitter, slimmer and having learned how to control my hair!

HopelessDei · 31/03/2014 23:11

Whets the difference between lines and wrinkles?

Nobody over 30 is line-free. Most adults have little lines around the eyes when they smile.

bouquetofpencils · 01/04/2014 09:41

Oh well, if we are boasting, I have bloody good knockers.

Mrsdavidcaruso · 01/04/2014 10:35

Trouble is that no matter how much money we spend and the cosmetics we buy the overiding factor is our Genes.

My mum is 59 has no wrinkles and has never used anything other then Oil of Olay and vitamin e oil round her eyes, she wears full make up everyday and loves sitting in the sun she has beautiful translucent skin oh and she smokes

Her sister is 10 years younger and has a face full of wrinkles, she spends a fortune on the latest must have products, never wears make up and avoids the sun like the plague and never smokes

The point is Mum has inherited her skin from her Mum My aunt inherited her skin from her Dads side of the family, wrinkled old trout's before the age of 40 most of them, no matter how much Auntie spends people will always assume she is the older Sister.

Same with me and my Sister I also have Mums skin and my Sister takes after Granddad she is only 8 years older then me but has been mistaken for my Mum on a couple of occasions Grin.

Although I do look after my skin I am safe in the knowledge that I will look as good as my Mum and Nan when I am older

CorrieDale · 01/04/2014 10:40

Nor did I at 41. At 46 however I have loads of the fuckers!

HildaOnAHarley · 01/04/2014 11:01

I'm 47 and have hardly any wrinkles and it's not because I'm fat, oh no, it's because I am special Grin Grin

mrssnodge · 01/04/2014 11:09

Contemplates · 01/04/2014 11:11

Your time will come Wink

FiscalCliffRocksThisTown · 01/04/2014 11:16

I have a wrinkly forehead.

3 deep lines and a vertical frown one too.

I am 42.

My under eye area seems to have been sketched with a tiny pencil, adding lots of criss cross lines.

But I have my mirror next to a south facing window, so have the harsh morning light shining on y face sideways….

I look much much better in other people's mirrors! Or even in pics

hoohah · 01/04/2014 11:24

I am 41, one big frown wrinkle and still loads of spots - what a looker.

I'm gutted to find out I may look even worse in RL than in the mirror Shock

worldgonecrazy · 01/04/2014 11:32

I am 44 with no wrinkles, thanks to good genes (thank you mum and dad), no sun on my skin ever, sunglasses at the first sign of anything other than grey sky, and moisturising fanatically since the age of 18 (thank you to my almost mother in law back then).

I have been accused of having botox, so maybe I could be a botox model? I just need some other plastic surgery to make me photogenic enough Grin

squoosh · 01/04/2014 11:55

I feel like having a boast too. I'm 36 and got asked for ID when buying a bottle of wine last week.

I have the face I deserved since I partied very hard in my 20s, worked abroad and burned the candle at both ends. I probably look my age, actually.

My DSis, who is five years older looks 10 years younger.

I don't really care since I am happy. Grin

Ecclefechan · 01/04/2014 12:19

"Most people assume I'm still in my mid 30s (if only)."

How do you know that?

Germgirl · 01/04/2014 12:23

I'm 41, no wrinkles but I do still have spots, and just recently I appear it have acquired a fucking wart on my forehead.
I only have no wrinkles because I'm fat. If my WLS goes ahead & works it expect up be incredibly wrinkled and also to have a belly apron that goes down to my knees. What a stunner eh?

I honestly can't remember the last time anyone asked me my age or I volunteered the info; think it must be a MN thing!

It's menopause that sucks the living daylights out of you and makes you wrinkle like an old prune. Thank god for HRT

BikeRunSki · 01/04/2014 12:38

43 and no wrinkles. I use whatever moisturiser is on offer at Tesco. My mum is 71 and looks about 40 and uses e45. I guess we have great genes.
