To ask what age ur LO walked?

My LO is one in Saturday. He is cruising, but can't stand by himself. He shows no interest in walking by holding my hands. He will go on his walker, but doesn't really show an interest in wanting to.

What age did ur LO walk? What signs did u see that they were ready?

I know not to compare, but feel like he's been cruising forever, and isn't making any progress.

11 and a half months.

Now, if only he'd start talking...

Lulaloo · 01/04/2014 08:12

Ds1 16 months
DD. 22 months
Ds1 and advanced 14 months!

I walked late also, now all 3 very normal, very active and sporty and never stop.

10 months. He pulled to stand at 7 months, cruised at 8 and that was it, he was off! He's quite inpatient! Grin

17 months. Looking back life was so much easier for us than for parents of babies walking before 1.

Both mine were talking in sentences before they could walk - 20 months for one, and 16 months for the other.

My mum and my mil, both of whom had children who didn't walk until the age of 2, were very sanguine about it all.
Once mine started walking they were very stable, and never fell over, so I think it was partly a confidence issue, they could have done it earlier if they wanted.

12 1/2. She stood supported at around 12 months, but never really cruised that much.

Now three and hopping is her biggest achievement.

Ds took his first independent steps 4 days short of 19 months. He was slow with most of his physical development, eg. He didnt even start pulljng up until about 14 months (and even then it was a really strange straightening both legs and bringing them towards whatever he was leaning rather than the norm bending one leg then the other) and wasnt cruising until about 15 months. He was also late to crawl and again didnt do the normal left right thing until 13 months, it was more of a zombie drag until then. I was a bit worried to start with, but once i realised he was achieving the milestones, just later than everyone else, i relaxed a bit and i knew he would walk eventualky! He was very cautious about climbing etc but now at 2.7 he has totally caught up.

I am always Hmm and Smile at people fretting that their 12 month old isnt walking yet!

11 months first dd
9 months second dd

Neither ever went in a pram so maybe that encouraged slightly early walking? Don't know (both can run really reaaly fast, my two year old can run faster than me and i run regularly)

There's no particular advantage and i'd only ask someone at 18-20 months plus?

Lollypop1983 · 01/04/2014 11:00

I'm not worried. But I am fed up of everyone asking " is DS walking yet? Oh r u worried about him?"

Out of our group of friends (8 couples) 4 of us had babies within 2 months of each other. The rest r all walking. But I'm reassured, and glad there is such a wide range of normal.

DS was almost 19 months when he took off. Literally just got up and ran...after cruising for months and months. I was a wreck. Still am... 5 years on.

tiny voice He's dyspraxic.

Vagndidit · 01/04/2014 11:08

And YY to the life being "easier" bit for those with a late walkers. It is so true. The things we were able to do up 'til the point he was mobile were amazing.
