To ask what age ur LO walked?

Lollypop1983 · 31/03/2014 16:09

My LO is one in Saturday. He is cruising, but can't stand by himself. He shows no interest in walking by holding my hands. He will go on his walker, but doesn't really show an interest in wanting to.

What age did ur LO walk? What signs did u see that they were ready?

I know not to compare, but feel like he's been cruising forever, and isn't making any progress.

14 months.

MinionDave · 31/03/2014 16:28

My DS walked at 9 months. He is now nearly 9 years and will barely walk the length of himself Grin

My DD was 10 months, so both of mine were quite early, however one of my nieces was 15 months old. I'd say anything up to 18 months is normal

Skivvywoman · 31/03/2014 16:29

Ds1 was 11mths
Ds2 was 10mths
Dd was 17mths she showed no interest in walking or cruising although she would occasionally cruise, and one day she started walking herself without aid and when she did she was very steady not like my other DC who were wobbly to begin with, she's another one who could talk before she could walk!

fluffyraggies · 31/03/2014 16:29

DD1 - 10 months
DD2 - 15/16ish months
DD3 - 10 months

DD1 and 3 were much smaller/lighter babies than DD2. I think this makes a difference.

Niklepic · 31/03/2014 16:29

DD1 - 17 months
DS - 14 months
DD2 - 9 months (last baby Sad)

Welshwabbit · 31/03/2014 16:30

13 months. He had been cruising around on furniture for several months before that but just took a while to get round to the actual walking. Sounds very similar to your little boy.

lapsedorienteerer · 31/03/2014 16:30

16.5 months, but was talking way before that.

Lollypop1983 · 31/03/2014 16:31

Thanks for all ur reassurances everyone.

HV did developmental check last week, and asked to try and get LO to walk holding hands, but he just cries every time I try.

It is a trolley type walker, ie he doesn't sit in it, but holds on to it and walks.

He started crawling at 8 months, so just feeling like he should be showing some progress, but I'll wait and see. He might surprise me on his birthday Smile

18 months.

Brittabot · 31/03/2014 16:32

DS1 took first steps alone on his first birthday, DS2 a few weeks after his first birthday. Be patient, he's cruising so nearly there!

Snatchoo · 31/03/2014 16:32

fluffy - my DS3 was much earlier than DTS and he was a bruiser compared to them!

lovelyredwine · 31/03/2014 16:34

15 months. She was cruising from about 9 months but took forever to let go and walk. She has turned out to be a cautious child though- a stand and watch what's going on for a while rather than just launching straight into things kind of girl. She was also very clingy with me and liked bring carried everywhere by me. I don't know if these factors made any difference to the age at which she walked.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 31/03/2014 16:36

I was told by a paediatrician that anything before 20 months is normal, after is when children are considered late walkers.

LittleprincessinGOLDrocks · 31/03/2014 16:37

DS walked across the room the day before his first birthday, after cruising round the furniture from about 8months. He was very quick to pull himself up to nosey at things, but actual walking he took his time.
DD walked at 13months, first day she took 3 steps and sat down. The nest day she ran across the room.

Neither child had a walker or wanted to walk holding fingers. Just got up and did it when they wanted to.

DragonMamma · 31/03/2014 16:38

11months for DD and 10months for DS.

DS has always been more advanced physically, I've even been stopped in the park by physical therapists who've commented on how advanced his motor skills are. But, up until recent (he's almost 3) you'd be hard pushed to understand much of what he was saying. Swings and roundabouts!

mummytowillow · 31/03/2014 16:40

18 months, she never rolled, pulled herself up or crawled. She bum shuffled and one day just walked! Smile

We were referred as everyone but me was worried and they said there was nothing wrong!

missmysexybody · 31/03/2014 16:42

DD - 17 months
DS - 16 months

Both NT> mind, they were both heavy & tall so I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it.

EverythingsDozy · 31/03/2014 16:43

My DD was 10mo, but then she's been early doing everything!
DS was 14 mo, it wasn't long after DH walked out so I was quite pleased he missed it (yes I know that's not very nice, but it's true!!)

dimdommilpot · 31/03/2014 16:43

DD was 14month. She never cruised, she never crawled, she never even rolled over. She is a perfectly happy and healthy 3.5yr old, who since the moment she could move has not stopped running.
Try not to worry, he will do it when he's ready.

formerbabe · 31/03/2014 16:44

9 months...I was gutted..,its much harder work when they can walk!

12 months with dc2

Kaekae · 31/03/2014 16:45

Both at 10 months old but I'm told I was a late walker!

IsSpringSprangedYet · 31/03/2014 16:47

DS1 - 10 months
DS2 - 13 months
DS3 - 9 months
DS4 - 10 months

It was really odd seeing DS3 toddle around that young. We call him our pocket rocket. Grin

jennyl131 · 31/03/2014 16:48

lollipop sounds just like my dc3 who will be 1 in a week. Will happily push a trolley type walker, pulls himself up on everything on sight, and cruises around furniture, but isn't interested in walking holding hands. He's very independent, and a fast crawler, I figure he knows he can get where he wants to much faster under his own steam using his super fast crabby crawl.

dc1&2 walked more or less at exactly a year, but had been keen on the walking holding hands from about 10 months.

I'm pretty sure dc3 will just eventually "get" walking, and certainly wouldn't be worried yet!

euq8820 · 31/03/2014 16:48

My ds is cruising since about 11 months, he's now 16 months and still hasn't taken off, will walk holding hands when suits him. He took 4 steps 2 weeks ago and hasn't attempted it since. I reckon il just turn around to him pottering after me some day!

softlysoftly · 31/03/2014 16:48

Don't pressure him or yourself, if he is cruising and using the trolley walker its unlikely there would be a physical issue.

DD2 walked and ran at 11 months she just got up and troddled off.

DD1 however worked out how to "walk" on her knees and refused to even try getting onto her feet. Several months, tears (from me), odd looks from strangers and 100's of destroyed trousers later she finally got onto her feet at 18/19 months.

She's absolutely fine and very active now, some kids just don't do it!
