To ask what age ur LO walked?

Lollypop1983 · 31/03/2014 16:09

My LO is one in Saturday. He is cruising, but can't stand by himself. He shows no interest in walking by holding my hands. He will go on his walker, but doesn't really show an interest in wanting to.

What age did ur LO walk? What signs did u see that they were ready?

I know not to compare, but feel like he's been cruising forever, and isn't making any progress.

DS started walking a week before he turned 11 months. He never really had a cruising stage but spent several weeks walking holding on to my hands, first both hands and then just one. When he eventually went on his own he was really steady straight away I think because he didn't let go until he knew he could do it.

Ds walked at 9.5 months and dd was 15 months. My dgs's were both 12 months. My cousin's dd was 23 months before she would walk without holding hands.

Janethegirl · 31/03/2014 20:34

Dd was 18 months, never crawled, just got up and walked one day.
Ds walked at 9 months, was climbing everything by 20 months.
Children just are so different wrt walking (and most other things).

Janethegirl · 31/03/2014 20:35

Sorry meant 10 months not 20 months

Both 18 months, I really worried about it with DC1, with DC2 I didn't worry at all! Both talked well before walking.

IdkickJilliansAss · 31/03/2014 20:47

My first DD didnt walk until 22 MONTHS she's NT too, she talked very early though

IdkickJilliansAss · 31/03/2014 20:47

The other two were 12 months

Mim78 · 31/03/2014 20:49

Yabu because they are all different!

Answer is 11 months though.

YellowYoYoYam · 31/03/2014 20:50

DD was 14 months (1 month before DS arrived - thank goodness!).

She began crawling at 7 months but really showed very little interest in walking until about 13 months. She cruised a wee bit, would use a walker trolley thing if encouraged, but still preferred crawling until one day, she just stood up in the middle of the living room and walked! DSis and I were Shock

She was running within 2 weeks of taking her first proper steps.

99redbafoons · 31/03/2014 20:51

DS was 16 months, and at 2.10 he's only just beginning to talk! Still NT....

missmagnum · 31/03/2014 20:55

14 months, I was desperate for him to get going but once he did, I realised how much easier life was before he did Grin.

Sallystyle · 31/03/2014 20:55

DC1- 2 yrs
DC2- 22 months
DC3- 16 months
DC4- 11 months
DC5- 16 months

neversleepagain · 31/03/2014 20:57

Twins. One walked at 14 months (12 months corrected) and the other at 16 months (14 months corrected)

Pointeshoes · 31/03/2014 20:59

A baby walking at 10 months would be a nightmare ! Ds didn't walk by himself until 17 months just took lots of encouragement.

PedantMarina · 31/03/2014 21:01

Cruising before 4 months

Both of walking with pushing things and standing holding onto nothing before 6 months.

But he didn't put it all together and walk from point A to point B until 7.5 months.

Sorry, really proud of my little guy. Blush

sunnydaylucy · 31/03/2014 21:04

DD1 15months
DD2 19months (DD1 waited on her, she didn't need to move!)
DD3 17months but she bottom shuffled from 12months, she was fast! All were talking early.

My niece was 9months Shock

Sparklysilversequins · 31/03/2014 21:04

10 months, missed out crawling altogether, which I now know as an important developmental stage that he just missed out. He has ASD and missing out crawling doesn't indicate that necessarily, his Developmental Paediatrician said it was probably pointer for him.

Dd around 11 months, she too missed out crawling, just got straight up cruising, then walking, she too has ASD.

Lollypop1983 · 31/03/2014 21:05

I probably should enjoy having him just crawling. He is also climbing things, including attempting to climb the stairs...it was stair gated an hour later!

I think I'm being a bit pfb, wanting him to do everything sooner rather than later!

How can an almost 4 month old cruise? Shock by cruise I take it you mean walk around holding the furniture?

Albertatata · 31/03/2014 21:23

My friends son was 22 months, she herself was also 22 months and her husband didn't walk til 19 months so I think its in the family. Seriously don't worry about it xx

DS1: 8.5mths
DS2: 9mths
DS3: 9.5mths

My friends DS didn't walk until 20mths but he had an amazing vocabulary and could do jigsaws really young. Mine were more physical as babies but didnt talk in sentences and would just chew or throw jigsaws! Despite the differences as little babies they are all fairly similar physical and mental abilities now. It all evens out!

BuntyCollocks · 31/03/2014 21:30

DS 9 1/2 months
DD 8 1/2 months Shock

However my niece, who is also NT, was nearer 2 by the time she took her first steps. Every child is different.

Early walkers are a pain in the arse.

Topseyt · 31/03/2014 21:44

Eldest daughter crawled at 8 - 9 months and walked at 14 months. Less sporty than her younger sisters, but does like some of it just for fun.

Second daughter: bum-shuffled from 8 months, never crawled and finally walked at 23 months. There was nothing at all wrong with her, she was just quite happy shuffling along and wearing through a pair of trousers every day, or so it seemed and saw no reason to rush to the next level. Give her a trolley walker or dolls pram to push and she would grab the handle and bum-shuffle behind that too, which was quite a look I can tell you. I must say I did despair of her at times, but she got there in the end, and at 15 now she is a sporty teenager.

Third daughter: also bum-shuffled from 8 months without ever crawling, but wasn't quite as lazy as her older sister and walked at 21 months. Once up and walking there was no stopping her. She climbed everything in sight and couldn't sit on the sofa or a chair without getting up and trying to walk/run along the very top of it (i.e. right on top of the back) and gave me a few heart stopping moments with that. She is 11 now, and also quite sporty - on the school hockey and netball teams regularly.

They are all very different, and you really just can't compare. Experience tells me to only worry if they aren't walking by 2 years, unless there is an obvious problem or discomfort (which neither of my two late walkers had).
