You can get false positives.

I got negatives with clear blue, first response, sainsburys own brand and the GP test. I'd been suffering with quite severe pain and thought it was possible that I was about to miscarry or had an ectopic pregnancy. My GP assured me I wasn't pregnant and made it clear that he thought I was being neurotic. However I knew I was pg and the pain was real. the only test to show a positive was a cheapo 79p one from Quality Save that I bought on the spur of the moment. It was when he sent me for a scan "to put my mind at ease with definitive proof" that I was proven right. The heartbeat was strong and all was healthy. I went back to discuss my care the first thing he said was "...so we're arranging a termination yes?" No explanation. Just coldness. Maybe he didn't like being proven wrong or he found my insistence annoying but he was so off with me. Wanker. Anyway my subsequent pregnancies all started the same. Intense pulling pain in my groin area and negative tests. It was annoying not being able to know for sure unless I could convince someone I could definitely be pregnant :o

You cam get false positives if you're on fertility drugs or have some cancers.... But neither are very likely.

You can get false positives if the tests arent up to scratch.

Ive had false positives on clear blue (not digital) First Response and the IC's.

I was not on fertility drugs and I did not have cancer. I was on a popular TTC forum so luckily knew that it sometimes happened and had my wits about me but it was still a disappointment none the less.

And the reason I know it wasnt a miscarriage or chemical is because I always did a second test out of sheer excitement and disbelief and that one (and the ones that followed) would be negative.

You can get false positives.

I wasnt the only one either, they plagued many in the TTC forum.

Check the miu rating. The lower the number, the more sensitive the test. Any positive is positive. But not all positive tests result in a sustainable pregnancy. Good luck

Morning all,
Well this morning I have been bleeding. Not heavily, but steadily. I also have backpain and a negative test.
I am obviously hoping this is implantation bleeding, but I doubt it. It looks like it was indeed a chemical pregnancy, very early pregnancy or I had lots of false positives.
I am not in severe pain or anything, just have constant lower back ache. Going to take it was today and see what happens...
Lesson learned if I am not - never testing until a week after my period due!
Thanks for all the support x

Just googled 'chemical pregnancy' - this is probably what I had!
I am hoping the bleeding stops and it is just implantation as I do t had abdominal pain, just backpain?
I think I am deluding myself though.
I look at my dd as feel grateful i have her though, shes perfect :)

I'm so sorry Odaat. I think it is a wise lesson not to test until later next time. That doesn't stop it hurting this time though does it? Here for a hand to hold, I hope you're ok. Xx

I will never ever test this early again!
Latest update : bleeding has slowe down, had another fair positive test! However , doc has said I can get a positive from hormone still being present up to three days after te preg fails.
I have blood test mond to see if I am or not. Doc said it is unlikely. :(
I am ok, but thoroughly gutted!!!

Sorry to hear this. I had a similar issue last year when I was almost a week late but not getting any clear +ve tests. Think it was a chemical pregnancy. Next cycle I didn't test until I was a week late (nearly killed me hanging on!!), got a positive and am now halfway through my pregnancy so hang on in there!!!

I don't get positive tests with girls, neither did my mother or her sisters.

U was 9 weeks with dd and still testing negative both urine and blood. Had a scan as the docs were convinced I'd miscarried, she's 9 now and still an awkward madam.

Both my boys and my miscarriage were big fat lines on the test.

My mother had the same issues with me, seems to be genetic

Thanks everyone, I am praying it will all be ok (probably rather naively) and this is just implantation. My friends have had bleeding in early preg - as did my mother. It iOS interesting to hear of genetic theories,as my mother, aunt and gran all bled with boys at start of pregnancy (apparantly supposed twins /and lost one v early on)

Maybe this is the same for me? My boobs are still sore, my lower back is constantly aching and I have had no abdominal pains- all this makes me hopeful!

I would say that you probably wouldnt get a positive test during implantation...sorry

Yeh, I have to be realistic! I dont think I am experiencing implantation bleeding - just a general early preg bleed or I'm not pregnant anymore and this is my period. My mind keeps changing! I will hve to wait until tuesd :)
