Dr is a very clean little girl and always has a fresh polo for school but I have to admit if her dress and cardigan are clean after school she will sometimes wear them for a second day.
Do your dcs have a freshly washed uniform every day? Am I a terrible mother lol...

Twin boys in year 2. I used to look at their trousers to see if they needed washing then I found out about criss cross wees! One of them admitted his trousers had been on radiator at school drying out for part of the day after criss cross wees went wrong. I hadn't noticed a smell. But from now on the get washed just to be sure!!

Bemused33 · 08/03/2014 08:20

Dd wears stuff until dirty and it always gets washed at weekend. She is 11. Ds the same. I usually end up washing something mid week.

Aboyandabunny · 08/03/2014 08:32

Clean every day. Even if the uniform looks clean it picks up general school aromas.

Hatchetfacedboot · 08/03/2014 08:35

Every 2 days unless spillages have occurred

TheBigBumTheory · 08/03/2014 08:37

I don't know...I wash whatever is in the basket in front of the machine. They just give me their clothes when they consider them dirty.

nokidshere · 08/03/2014 08:58

3 sets of uniform? It cost me just short of £600 to kit out my two boys in September for secondary school!!! They have one of everything except polo shirts which they have two of.

I have no idea how often they change stuff though. If it's in the washing basket I wash it but I don't check or ask them for it.

notso · 08/03/2014 09:40

I can't believe people are washing daily because the clothes smell of school.

I think lots depends on what the uniform is. If its predominantly woolen blazers and pinafore dresses they don't need washing daily and shouldn't be. The blazer just needs wiping down as needs dry cleaning for example. If its just polo shirts and jumpers its far easier to just throw whole thing in wash instead of picking out shirts/ socks etc

Oh iv always gone by 3 with any uniform. 1 on, 1 off, 1 in the wash

neverputasockinatoaster · 08/03/2014 11:10

Did wears those all in one pinnies from Next ( they look like a pinny with a blouse underneath it are actually a dress) so she has a clean one everyday as she'd have a clean shirt everyday.
D's wears a polo shirt so has a clean shirt everyday and trousers changed when they look dirty or smell bad or its Friday!
Both of them carry a sweatshirt backwards and forwards everyday but rarely wear them. I wash them when they look a big scruffy. As Ds's never leaves his bag that's once a half term!
Underwear daily and socks daily too.

BrandyAlexander · 08/03/2014 11:22

Once. Fresh clothes each day

mumandboys123 · 08/03/2014 11:51

clean every day. I have 3 logo jumpers, 5 pairs of trousers and at least 6 polo shirts on the go for each child (more for the younger ones as there are always hand me downs as spares). I wash jumpers and trousers every night and do a white wash every couple of days. I never have an issue with clothes being ready to wear and should anyone slop their breakfast and/or toothpaste down them, there's always a spare!

Bonsoir · 08/03/2014 11:57

DD doesn't have uniform but a dress (essentially a colour) code. She has clean clothes every day - trousers, t-shirt, socks, underwear - except for her hoody which she wears for longer.

notso · 08/03/2014 12:00

There is surely a middle ground between 'looking like a tramp' and washing clean clothes though.

thinking101 · 08/03/2014 12:13

A bit if airing n febreeze helps to extend wearage

I find we are too obsessed with the everything must be fresh everyday malarky, bodies, towels n clothes. You can be clean without being 'fresh' they are not the same thing.

Polo and jumper changed twice a week and trousers usually last all week, although occasionally changed. Three sets of uniform, so enough to change every day if necessary.

dementedma · 08/03/2014 19:31

Ah,this solves my bafflement at the laundry threads where people do eleventy billion loads of washing every week.
Unless it has obvious food/mud/paint stains on it, ds gets as long as possible out of his uniform. 2 pairs of trousers a week, 3 shirts, one blazer. Underwear and socks daily but the rest doesn't need a daily wash.

supadupapupascupa · 08/03/2014 19:34

i'm a huge fan of the babywipe spot wash Grin

lljkk · 08/03/2014 19:34

When it smells or looks dirty.
DC have been teased for plenty of things, but not for what they do or don't wear.

Mintyy · 08/03/2014 19:59

I have for a small washing up sponge which I keep in the bathroom cupboard for the sole purpose of getting small food stains off uniform. I do a ton of laundry as it is and I don't need to be washing, hanging and putting away a school skirt that had a baked bean dropped on it for a nano second.

MarshaBrady · 08/03/2014 20:02

They get washed after each day. The jumper might last a few days. But the shirt, trousers, socks and PE kit each day.
