Dr is a very clean little girl and always has a fresh polo for school but I have to admit if her dress and cardigan are clean after school she will sometimes wear them for a second day.
Do your dcs have a freshly washed uniform every day? Am I a terrible mother lol...

I change them around three times a week, tights/ socks and pants everyday.

If cardigan and skirt/ pinafore can be sponged clean then I do that. Clean polo as soon as there is any food spilled.

She is pretty clean and doesn't often spill food or get muddy.

kimlo · 07/03/2014 12:25

polo shirts I try to get as long as possible out of because I hate ironing them I find them a faff. dd1 is 10 though so shes going to start needing them changed more often soon I would imagine.

pinafores and jumpers are changed every other day. They do have enough uniform to last a week but I try to keep my ironing pile as small as possible Blush

Of course this only works when dd2 hasnt left all of her jumpers at school. Every so often I have to go in to the classroom and try and retrive some of them.

RufusTheReindeer · 07/03/2014 12:26

Ds1 same trousers for the week, 2 maybe 3 shirts
Dd same skirt for the week, 2 shirts
Ds2 same trousers for the week, 1 maybe 2 shirts

Obviously if they are quite dirty they will change but that's if I can catch the little beggars before they leave the house

waterlego6064 · 07/03/2014 12:26

Both of mine wear a fresh polo shirt every day.

DD is 8 and her stuff stays pretty clean so she will get 2 or 3 days' wear out of her cardigans and trousers/skirts.

DS is 5, and he has to have clean trousers and jumpers pretty much every day, as there is always food (yogurt, usually) on them. I think
I could count on one hand the number of times he's been able to wear jumpers or trousers for a second day.

ElleBellyBeeblebrox · 07/03/2014 12:33

Dd is four and a mucky toad. Tights vest pants changed every day, I can usually get a few days out of her polo shirt, but dress and jumper are filthy after one days worth of paint, chalk, yogurt and mud. She goes in looking semi presentable and comes out looking like stig of the dump with wonky bunches.

CoffeeChocolateWine · 07/03/2014 12:34

I have three sets of uniform which DS gets through in a weeks so I do aim to get two wears out of it if I can. But not this week...he's been through 5 jumpers (bear in mind that with World Book Day he's only been wearing uniform for 4 days...had to change one jumper before he even left for school one day this week!) and he's come home every day with his trousers covered in mud. Damn this nice weather and all the playing outside!! Can't keep up with the washing!

GwendolineMaryLacey · 07/03/2014 12:35

New pants, vest and tights/socks every day. Pinafore/skirt and shirt every two days and tie and cardigan usually last a week. She generally takes the cardi off at school though.

ghostinthecanvas · 07/03/2014 12:40

Clean on Monday. Change undies and socks every day. Mine all change out of school clothes when they get home. Breakfast is in pjs.
13 year old changes his shirts once or twice a week.

Clarty compared to you lot Blush

Stinklebell · 07/03/2014 12:44

DD1 has a clean blouse every day and a clean jumper every couple of days. Blazer and school kilt take ages to dry and aren't tumble-dry-able so once a week unless dirty/smelly - she's a fairly clean child but puberty is in full swing and she can sometimes get a bit whiffy by the end of the day, so washing is dependent on a sniff test, rather than actual dirt

DD2 has a clean polo top every day, then clean trousers/skirt/cardigan every couple of days or when dirty. She wears black trousers or skirts and usually whips her cardigan straight off when she gets to school so they don't tend to get dirty. I'm forever boil washing polo shirts though

Every day except fleeces which get washed about twice a year

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 07/03/2014 13:33

DD has always kept her skirt clean for a week whereas DS used to get through a pair of trousers a day. Mud.Grass.Yoghurt. Hmm

But they always have fresh blouse/shirt/socks/underwear daily.

ouryve · 07/03/2014 13:33

Only the once. They often have to be peeled off, at the end of the day. I have rather grubby boys.

DS1 wears his fleece day in, day out, though, and only brings it home for a wash, occasionally, when I don't have time to do it.

Crowler · 07/03/2014 13:37

I've got dirty kids - once only.

BarbarianMum · 07/03/2014 13:38

Underwear changed daily (obv). Everything else - until it's dirty or Friday. In reality this means they get clean outer layer every day. A jumper lasted 2 days once, I believe Smile.

jennyl131 · 07/03/2014 13:38

Every day. The whole "school smell" thing. Even if they didn't smell, there's usually yoghurt spilt somewhere.

BackforGood · 07/03/2014 13:42

Only when they need washing - can't get my head round the concept of washing clothes that neither look nor smell like they need a wash - I mean, why would you ? Confused

JonathanGirl · 07/03/2014 13:49

Clean clothes only when the old ones are dirty.

So clean tights and underwear every day, but other things could last ages. It's not like young children are sweaty.

TittyMcFartyFlaps · 07/03/2014 14:03

I try and use 2 polo shirts per week, those are the only things I iron and ds has 12 so I only need to iron once every 6 weeks.
His jumper usually needs washing every day as he wipes his mouth on the sleeve all the time and gets school dinner down it.
Trousers I do the sniff test, no wee dribble and he can wear for 2 days.

BlackeyedSusan · 07/03/2014 14:06

I am lucky if the freshly washed uniform they have put on that morning after breakfast actually gets to school clean.

BlackeyedSusan · 07/03/2014 14:07

in summer when the cardi stays in the bag most of the day she will wear that a couple of days running.

MrsReiver · 07/03/2014 14:09

Feeling like a right minger now. DS is 10 and if it isn't covered in mud/pen/paint it doesn't get changed. He will be coming in the door a 3.15 wearing the uniform he went out in on Monday morning.
