Dr is a very clean little girl and always has a fresh polo for school but I have to admit if her dress and cardigan are clean after school she will sometimes wear them for a second day.
Do your dcs have a freshly washed uniform every day? Am I a terrible mother lol...

Clean shirt every day. I wash cardis/jumper and trousers etc mid week. DS blazer goes in the wash at the end of the week.

ChickyEgg · 07/03/2014 19:44

Oops posted too soon. If anything looks or smells dirty then it'll be washed that day anyways

MissBetseyTrotwood · 07/03/2014 19:46

Depends on how filthy they are. I'll often do a spot wash while they're in the bath if it's just a few smudges. No point washing for the sake of it.

Mintyy · 07/03/2014 20:18

My children are 13 and 10.

They get clean jumpers/sweatshirts and trousers/skirts every 3-4 days.

Shirts every other day.

Fusedog · 07/03/2014 20:26

Clean shirt every day , trousers every other day and I have no idea how many times he wears his pe kit before he washes it

aquashiv · 07/03/2014 22:01

Most days new trousers polos/shirts and usually a sweater too. I have three who are just always filthy. They must literally be let out at play time and spend the whole time rolling around the field. Today one came home with a foot print on his jumper.

AuditAngel · 07/03/2014 22:14

Clean pants and socks or tights daily, the rest changed as necessary. That might be daily or last a week.

Cuxibamba · 07/03/2014 22:17

Fresh shirts each day (but then they are very cheap to buy), trousers twice a week (unless it's got dirt on), sweaters twice a week.

kippersmum · 07/03/2014 22:22

Both my DD's have a full set of clean uniform everyday. I wouldn't wear the same clothes to work 2 days in a row, why should they??

SpocksThirdEar · 07/03/2014 22:27

I change it maybe once a week. Except youngest who falls over and makes lots of mess with everything so needs changing more often.

Oldest is smelly teenager so should change more often, but whether he does or not is another matter (he's old enough to sort himself out, he knows where his clean clothes are.)

Sometimes I do wear the same clothes 2 days in a row! Shock

TheRaniOfYawn · 07/03/2014 22:31

Same as auditangel. Fresh socks and pants each day and chamfer the rest when they are noticeably dirty. Shirts usually only last a day but if they survive mealtimes unsullied them they get reworn.

idril · 07/03/2014 22:38

Worn until visibly dirty for my 8 and 6 year old. I keep doing a sniff test in the underarm area of my 8 year old but no whiffs yet.

So it really varies. If my girl wears a dress and doesn't spill anything on it, it's usually on for the full 5 days. In summer when they don't wear jumpers, my son might need a clean top every day.

Lucyccfc · 07/03/2014 23:05

I would love my DS to wear his trousers and jumper more than once, but every day he comes home filthy and generally covered in mud. Luckily I only have the one, so He has fresh uniform every day and I do a dark wash on a Friday, light wash Saturday and iron it all on a Sunday.

That also includes clean gloves everyday in winter and 3 coats to last the week.

I really hope he keeps a bit cleaner in high school.

TooOldForGlitter · 07/03/2014 23:09

Only have one uniform for my daughter. Washed on a Friday. I wash her polo shirt Weds night the rest, trousers and jumper, is worn for the week.

TooOldForGlitter · 07/03/2014 23:11

If I had more money i'd wash it more/buy spares but I don't so I sponge off marks and wash on a Friday.

newfavouritething · 07/03/2014 23:24

Mine start with clean everything on Mondays, and keep wearing through the week until babywipes don't work and into the wash basket - sometimes a day, sometimes the full week. At home they can eat perfectly well, at school I believe some days they must eat blindfolded.
One of them won the trophy for always looking smart last term, so obviously no need to deviate from the babywipe approach. Am amazed how many wash after each day, am quite clearly slovenly.

JulietBravoJuliet · 07/03/2014 23:29

Clean polo every day as he gets a bit sweaty. Trousers get changed when they are dirty, same with sweatshirt, which generally gets stuffed in his book bag early on in the school day.

Morloth · 08/03/2014 03:18

Fresh everything everyday.

DS1 is a mess.

That kid is grubby within minutes of a shower and clean clothes.

wobblyweebles · 08/03/2014 03:35

Ours don't have uniform, but generally with clothes I only wash them if they're dirty or smelly.

I quite often wear a top more than once before I wash it - same for the children. I definitely don't wash cardigans, skirts or trousers every time they're worn.

VeloWoman · 08/03/2014 04:07

DS gets a fresh uniform everyday, we have five sets though so I only have to wash once a week. I won't re-wear clothes other than jeans or jumpers though and I am a lot cleaner than my 6 year old boy!

sixlive · 08/03/2014 06:14

I remember my mother only washing our uniform once a week and

I felt smelly even though she sponged any marks. DC clean everyday as a result I but 3 sets of everything and wash on a Wednesday it's not hard.

QueenofLouisiana · 08/03/2014 06:19

Clean polo shirt, pants and socks every day. Trousers about twice a week, jumper as needed- usually twice a week.

Refoca · 08/03/2014 07:33

I remember as a kid having one pair of trousers a week and 2 shirts. Oh if only I could get away with this! My DS insists on playing in the mud and/or dropping his lunch down himself, so I can get away with the polo shirt for a second day but the trousers/jumpers are a daily change most of the time.

For the avoidance of doubt though, the polo shirt would be changed every other day and the trousers/jumper would last a week f I could get away with it ;-)

Refoca · 08/03/2014 07:36

Lucyccfc...3 coats?!? Make him wear it muddy, he'll soon take more care ;-)

aufaniae · 08/03/2014 07:42

Washing every day if not actually dirty is a waste of resources, it's bad for the environment.

It's a sign of how much we have our heads buried in the sand about climate change that we're having this conversation without anyone yet mentioning the energy we're using.

Just a thought ...

Having said that, DS comes home with filthy clothes most days, so I wash daily.
