I've recently namechanged [back] because there were too many similarly named people to me, and it was getting confusing when I read threads.

To be serious for approximately 30 nano-seconds...

When I go to namechange, all my previous names appear in a handy drop down menu, and I've never had any problem clicking any of them. And I'm pretty certain I read on a Site Stuff thread that once a user had taken a name it was theirs forever, even if they'd changed it three posts later and never returned. Some people were trying to get Tech to set up a user name amnesty, any name that hadn't been used for five years could go back into circulation. But HQ reckoned it might cause confusion if people were looking at old threads.

Anyway, 30 nano seconds are up. As you were....

I have also been confused at people replying to youare. But I guess there is a lot of youare...... about. I use to have another ending. This is my Olympic NC from 2012! I have had various seasonal youare's as well.

I've namechanged a few times, and each time I've had this secret little fear that I would accidentally pick something too close to an established poster and people would think I was copying. I mostly lurk and only recently have been posting more.

This time I went with something too long and an unfunny pun. Seems to work.

How would they know, though? I've just tonight changed my username. The first few I tried said "sorry, username already in existence. Please choose another one." Even though I thought they were pretty obscure. They'd been chosen.
They've in all likelihood tried a name, it's stuck and MN has allowed it and they're all happy.
Completely oblivious to the fact that there's a BumpAndGrind, as the only thing they ever tried to type into the name change thingy was BumpNGrind. Which would have got accepted.
Then merrily posted away.
