Just that really. By the time he has a shower tomorrow morning it will be 48 hours. He has worn the same clothes to sleep, do the garden, go for a walk etc. We've had a quiet weekend and not had any plans to go out or meet friends or family I'm appalled and I find it somewhat revolting. I certainly make the effort to shower clean teeth etc even if we have no plans. Am I expecting too much? Should he just be able to relax and not make an effort as he's just with us?

For the record- he does smell and is visibly grubby

Tell him, nicely (!) , that he's honking just fine an he's on the sofa / spare room, if he doesn't shower! Or tell him he's not getting his oats unless he smell fresher! But I don't think you need to shower everyday, and at least he's saving money on water and heating!!!

HuntingforBunting · 16/02/2014 19:14

Poo crumbs?!?!?!

How ridiculous people are.
What, actually, is going to happen if your don't shower everyday?? I don't always. I don't smell, look unkempt and have not yet died of bacterial infection... I've never got how precious some people are about this.

BumPop · 16/02/2014 19:15

So he skipped his daily shower once? And that's shocking? Hmm

That's pretty common in this household and no-one is bring disrespectful, honestly!

If it is hampering your sex life, I'm pretty sure phrasing it in that way would make him get clean very, very quick! That bit I do understand, I don't like to DTD unless both of us have showered that day. God knows how the human race survived pre indoor plumbing. Grin

JonSnowKnowsNothing · 16/02/2014 19:15

X Post. The grubbiness/smelliness is obviously an issue, in that case. Is this recent?

NoArmaniNoPunani · 16/02/2014 19:16

Even someone who doesn't sweat much will lose about a litre a day.

HuntingforBunting · 16/02/2014 19:18

Jon, it's come to light since we've moved I explained a bit upthread. I just find it mind bogglingly unattractive!!

Bumpop it's not just once! It's becoming a trend!

If I am genuinely not leaving the house I might occasionally skip a shower but would wash pits and bits and clean my teeth anyway. I love a shower and hair wash in the morning wakes me up Grin

NoArmaniNoPunani · 16/02/2014 19:20

People are often blissfully unaware that they smell, so stating on this thread that you don't clean yourself everyday and don't smell doesn't mean much you stinking, claggy mingers

BumPop · 16/02/2014 19:20

Although I was a bit Hmm at some sanctuary shower gel I bought. It was lovely and had oils in for lovely soft skin which it promised would last for three days. I thought that was a bit long to go without showering regularly....!

HuntingforBunting · 16/02/2014 19:20

It is true we are saving on water and heating, cold comfort indeed, no pun intended

HuntingforBunting · 16/02/2014 19:21

NoArmani I just laughed out loud at that

No problem with not showering for one day but what clothes constitute day and night wear ? < and digging the garden wear > That sounds rank.

pianodoodle · 16/02/2014 19:21

I'm in the minority then - I couldn't get dressed in the morning unless I'd had a shower I'd just feel grotty.

Ah I'm hugely cheered up. Thanks mn, it's good to post :-)

Skipping the shower would not bother me, sleeping in his clothes would a bit given that we sweat so much during the night.

I am far from a clean freak, but I would not entertain gobbling an unwashed cock.

Crowler · 16/02/2014 19:22

This would make me unhappy.

JennyOnAPlate · 16/02/2014 19:23

I shower every day, it would never occur to me not to!

Just because you don't smell to you doesn't mean that other people don't think you pong!

HuntingforBunting · 16/02/2014 19:24

Oh Iggy I've just got the outright giggles now:-)

My hairdresser told me that my blow-dry style would last a week.

Does that mean I can get away without washing my hair for a week? Never been that long between washes before...

Bowlersarm · 16/02/2014 19:25

Oh my Lord. I don't shower every day. I don't consider myself a grubby minger but what do I know.

BumPop · 16/02/2014 19:26

6 showers each a week is fine in my house. But if it's not in yours, that's ok too. Am I right in thinking this is a no shower Sunday thing and he showers every day for work, etc? If so make sure you go out on Sundays or DTD. Then once he's in the habit, comment on how lovely he smells and how sexy it is.

I don't mean this manipulatively btw, dh always shaves when he wants to get lucky, just cos he knows I like the smell of his shaving foam (v manly!). Grin
