...with a fellow mum, and supposed 'friend' at the school?

Basically, my son is best friends with this boy (they're both in Yr1 & went through Reception / nursery together). The other boys mum is a young mum who I thought was quite mature for her age, lives with her mum and dad still - her mum does more with the boy than her though, typical loving nan I guess?

Anyway, we've known each other for a few years now - this family know the shit we've had to endure; financial issues, hubby's Stroke, other issues.

I posted a FB status status last week saying for anyone who was online, if they didn't like me then delete me ... Well, the nan deleted me! Hmmm, surprised as we've always been pals ?

Then the kids mum, posted a status about loving her new work colleagues etc, I commented saying that was great but not to be too open to them as I've had sufficient experience of being shit on by colleagues in the past - she got really pissed off with this so I removed my comments. I since saw a comment from her to somebody on her FB calling me a 'bloody crank'?!

I took this girl's son on an expensive day trip out last Summer, bought him lunch, toys etc Confused This girl calls me a crank yet has just announced she's preggo again with her 'friends' baby this time ?!?

Just to add this girl also claims fraudelent benefits, which pisses me right off...

Would you be alnnoyed? Would you pull her at school or just ignore them from now on??

I feel really upset and disappointed to have let my guard down and opened my heart again to people who I believed to be decent people, friends Hmm

I delete people who post crap like that on Facebook too.

I think the post about people not liking you was attention seeking and childish and I would have deleted you as we'll just for being wanky. The comment about not being too open was pissing on her parade and inappropriate for a Facebook post open to all.

Yabu.

Sorry you deserved it - I would delete too!!

Well you did tell people to delete you if they wanted to. Were you expecting lots of "awww hun we still love you/just ignore them they arent worth it" replies?

And you pissed on her bonfire with your "trust noone" reply. I'd be pissed off if someone tried to dampen by mood like that!

I also would have deleted. She probably deleted your comments as her new work friends would probably have been able to see them too. Unappropriate post from you there I'm afraid.

FloozeyLoozey · 12/02/2014 18:44

why ask people to delete you if you're upset when they do so?

YouStayClassySanDiego · 12/02/2014 18:46

Why invite people to delete you in the firstplace?

Ignore people who profess to dislike you and the dig about benefits is neither here nor there.

Sorry but I also delete people who post crap like that on FB - "share this if you love me", "share this if you love your mum" etc.

"Delete me if you don't love me" is particularly bad and could easily be perceived as defriend-worthy, especially since you seem to be asking for it.

I'm in my early 40s and have no patience with such juvenile nonsense. Presumably, this "nan" is older than me so no, I'm not surprised. Sorry.

Why would you post "delete me if you don't like me". I would delete you immediately for being so annoying.

How old are you?! Hmm That sounds really quite aggressive and confrontational, why did you post it?

And it was really nasty of YOU to 'shit on' her excitement about her new colleagues :(

Report
shakinstevenslovechild · 12/02/2014 18:48

The first post was attention seeking.

Your comment about not trusting her new colleagues was just plain weird, what on earth made you think that was appropriate, and on FB of all places where she has probably added the people she was talking about.

I don't think that you will have much of a choice in what happens from now on, I would imagine they will, quite rightly be avoiding you from now on.

The benefits situation obviously didn't piss you off enough to not be friends with her in the first place, so why is it bothering you so much now?

Why did you post that on FB?? I would immediately delete anyone for posting something like that, on the basis that if I had liked them up to that point I had misjudged their character and they were in fact an idiot.

And then it sounds like you are jealous that she is getting on with her new workmates. Are you?

CoffeeTea103 · 12/02/2014 18:48

Yabu. You think the problem is her when it's you!
Your initial Fb request was attention seeking. And why post that comment about her new job when it had nothing to do with you! Crank...Er yes. Grow up.

BirthdayMuppet · 12/02/2014 18:49

Yep, you started the whole mess by posting such self serving nonense about people deleting you if they wished. Well you got what you wanted, enjoy it! Because it surely seems to serve you right...

I don't understand why you posted about deleting you if they disliked you. What was the point of that exactly?

Report
LimitedEditionLady · 12/02/2014 18:49

Well you said delete, she deleted, sounds fair enough to me.To be honest I would also call you a crank if you were so negative like that.

Few points

  1. If you're going to dare people to delete you on fb then you should be prepared than someone will.

  2. Your friend posted how happy she was at her work and I'm afraid you crapped on her happiness. I completely agree with what you said about being careful with people at work but she's obviously not interested in your advice (which is why she's calling you a crank).

  3. Do you definitely know she's a benefit fraud? There's been some interesting threads on this subject recently to help you decide what to do about that (someone more organised will find a link I'm sure).

  4. Good that you were a good friend to the boy, not sure what you're annoyed at here?

  5. Well she's daft getting pregnant to a 'friend' IMO but it's her life and her choices.

To sum it all up, delete her from fb. You obviously saw the friendship differently. Politely distance yourself and find other friends who will be just that. This one is not worth the effort or your time.

I'm too busy for fakebook but I understand how it works.
Why bother with it if you see each other most days anyway. It seems so attention seeking to me. Fair enough if you had family and friends miles and miles away it seems an ok way to stay in touch.
To me, fakebook is basically a commentary on people's dull lives sprinkled with glitter to "appear" like stars of a drama series. I'm sorry if this sounds harsh, but friends, pick up the phone and talk to each other.

It doesn't sound as if you like her much anyway.

Why were you so negative?

Report

Agree with others. Your original FB post sounded very childish. So what if someone deleted you? You asked for it by inviting the action! The second FB comment from you was miserable & bitter. She was happy and excited & you just pissed on it, plus her new colleagues would've seen it & what impression would that have given?
