That's a bullshit reason.

What makes me laugh is they're ripping off NCT Nearly New Sales which are mainly and in some cases almost exclusively run by women. They even put up and lift tables those women you know! And they do it unpaid because it's all for charity.

Andy you are a knobber.

Confuddledmuchly · 03/02/2014 21:51

Latest reply? He said this -

Tables are 15kg each..sorry female s cannot possibly lift n load 80 of

God, what an arse!

WindyMillerCandlewickGreen · 03/02/2014 21:54

harriet got it right, it must be someone looking for a gay prostitute. Think about it:

Male youth, local, friendly, fit, outgoing, willing (oh yes??), no women applicants as it involves shirt lifting.......send email with mobile number, age, hobbies and a photo of your cock to [email protected]

Dirty.

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 03/02/2014 21:55

Umm- my dog is over 40kg and i can lift him in and out of the bath and car boot lazy fucker wont jump in himself

WanderingAway · 03/02/2014 21:55

Who in their right mind would want to work for someone like that.

HollyMiamiFLA · 03/02/2014 21:56

Wonders if they've done a health and safety assessment, manual lifting course etc.

Finney2 · 03/02/2014 21:56

My 1-y-o is 15kg. I walk around with him on my hip all day.

If the tables are that heavy then there should be lifting equipment in place to avoid injury to workers.

HollyMiamiFLA · 03/02/2014 21:57

Can Dads apply for their sons?

Confuddledmuchly · 03/02/2014 21:58

What should I do now? I've printscreened the ad and all these comments. (they've all now been deleted)

I'm pissed off!

Twentyducks · 03/02/2014 21:58

Fairly certain its illegal to even advertise like this. Specifying it must be a man on the basis of physical strength is definitely not a reason for an exemption. Its the Equalities Act now I believe. Will try to find a link.

Confuddledmuchly · 03/02/2014 22:00

(they've all now been deleted... from the tabletots FB page and from the ad on my local selling page)

DonnaDishwater · 03/02/2014 22:04

Sometimes places can specify gender if they have a shortgage of either male or female staff so that there is always a male and a female on duty in case someone collapses in the toilets or something.

AmIHumanYet · 03/02/2014 22:05

Shock SERIOUSLY?!
They will be getting a few emails from me!

K8Middleton · 03/02/2014 22:10

Yeah all those women fire fighters who don't lift anything. They just stay outside minding the fire engine and making tea while the men do the real work. Unless there's a cat up a tree. They're allowed to do that.

Confuddledmuchly · 03/02/2014 22:11

Seriously AmIhuman

I fit to bust in indignation here...

Angry

ChaosTrulyReigns · 03/02/2014 22:17

Nope, K8ie.

The fireladies can only get the cats if they're cute fluffywuffy kittehs.

Get with it.

K8Middleton · 03/02/2014 22:31

Sorry I forgot to add that bit Chaos because it's obvious.

The fireladies are also allowed to sew buttons back on the uniforms and make complimentary remarks about The Big Hose.

Confuddledmuchly · 03/02/2014 22:36

Grin at K8

Yeah winnin! Stop making such a fuss about casual sexism! Don't you have ironing to do and families to look after?

Stop trying to use your intellect and tackle sexist bollocks and get a life! But preferably a life of oppression and second class citizenship cos it's all you deserve!

Oh, hang on...

Tsk.

manicinsomniac · 03/02/2014 22:54

Their reasons are ridiculous!

But personally, I would prefer it not to be illegal to discriminate in adverts as it would save people who are going to be discriminated against anyway from putting in the effort of applying.

And sometimes, the reasons are good (but don't fall under special consideration). Eg, we needed a new Y4 teacher at school last year. The male leaving the post worked with me on certain weekends away as the male member of staff. No other current staff member was prepared to take on that part of the job. We have to have both genders to run the trip so his replacement also had to be male. But obviously that couldn't be stated on the ad. So a load of females wasted their time and effort.
