Well am I?

Someone said it was odd.

I adore the word gusset. It's so unapologetic.

You peg your soggy gussets with pride!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 02/02/2014 16:07

I am sorry - they should be hung up by the waistband. That's how my mum does it, and she is never wrong.

IhaveNoOpinion · 02/02/2014 16:09

But hanging by the waistband takes up so much room or at least mine do anyway Blush

Salmotrutta · 02/02/2014 16:09

Well my mum hangs by the gusset and her mum before her too.

So that's about 90 odd years worth of gusset hanging.

So there.

I peg sideways, from the hip bit.
Thought you might like to know

WillYouDoTheFandango · 02/02/2014 16:14

I peg the same as Thursday. One side of the waistband.

HungryHorace · 02/02/2014 16:15

I peg sideways too. The gusset is thicker so won't dry as quickly with a peg attached. :-)

Dontletthemgetyoudown · 02/02/2014 16:16

Same as Thursday. Take up less room and don't get so creased. I'm an unapologetic wearer of granny knickers aka sloggi or m&s full knickers.

LadyBeagleEyes · 02/02/2014 16:17

Sideways too.
Cringe at gusset, I hate that word Grin

Salmotrutta · 02/02/2014 16:17

You just leave them out a bit longer to dry.

Problem solved.

InMySpareTime · 02/02/2014 16:17

I hang knickers and pants sideways, gusset facing away from the house. I hang Boxer shorts by the waistband.
Pegging the gusset is Weird as the gusset is last to dry, being thickest.

MaxPepsi · 02/02/2014 16:18

I currently peg by the gusset due to lack of space but in an ideal world it would be by the waistband.

My husband doesn't do either, he does some strange man hanging without shaking it out too which I have given up trying to work out!

I am not weird.

... Much.

There is nothing wrong with being weird - celebrate your weirdness!

Iwannalaylikethisforever · 02/02/2014 16:22

Gusset. Takes up less room. I also hang two or three gussets together to save room and pegs. Always gets dry.
No weird at all.

Lastofthepodpeople · 02/02/2014 16:25

Nope. I do that.
What I do think is weird, is that I just found out my DH always puts the underpants in the middle of the line 'so it's not as easy for the neighbours to see them'. When quizzed, he said he doesn't like the thought of them looking at our underwear.
FWIW we have nice normal neighbours. I'm pretty sure they don't peek over the fence at our undies.

InMySpareTime · 02/02/2014 16:26

Surely it's good to give the gusset sunshine and dry it as quickly as feasible as it's the area most exposed to bacteria, much of which is not effectively destroyed by non-bio detergents and low temperature washes.
(I am weird in many ways, but it appears that I'm quite normal when it comes to pant-hanging)

Salmotrutta · 02/02/2014 16:27

I have a whirly and I always hang the Knicks on the inner lines.

So the bigger items hide them.

Makes perfect sense to me.

Stop being all sensible InMySpareTime - that could be a new song to replace "Sunshine on Leith"

... "Sunshine on Gussets"

OP posts:
WitchWay · 02/02/2014 16:30

I only wear lacy thongs so the gusset (urgh) is the dampest part after washing. I hang them by the side seams, three to a peg, one seam each. Not bothered what the neighbours think they have fancy knickers too

Mmmbacon · 02/02/2014 16:32

Lol, I think its the first time my thread has indirectly inspired a thread,

I dont think your weird at all,

Fwiw I hang 2 possibly 3 by the side,

and I hang underwear in the second line so they can't be seen by neighbours our from tge road too

Salmotrutta · 02/02/2014 16:34

See, all these folk who hang two or three together, by the seam, are negating the single-layer-of-fabric effect.

So it all evens out drying-speed wise.

OP posts:
ChippingInWadesIn · 02/02/2014 16:36

I hang them by the sides too and definitely in the middle of the whirly so the bigger items hide them - no one wants to look at other people's pants drying.

Trills · 02/02/2014 16:36

They are your underpants you can hang them any way you like.

Don't let the haterz get you down.
