Someone said it was odd.

Peg from the hip

EmmaGellerGreen · 02/02/2014 17:30

Never peg underwear outside!

Kettricken · 02/02/2014 17:44

I was taught what you wear on the top you hang from the bottom and what you wear on the bottom you hang from the top.

But I still hang my pants from the side Grin

LydiasLunch · 02/02/2014 17:49

I put mine in the tumble dryer for a nice warm gusset.

following · 02/02/2014 19:23

always tumble dry , dont want my nosey neighbours staring at my gussets .

Salmotrutta · 02/02/2014 19:25

Well, if you peg by the gusset, nobody can really see said gusset.

Sorted.

I dry mine indoors, don't like the thought of the bloke next door seeing them.

Nooooooooo! Am laughing lots... but no one should see your knickers. Airing cupboard or tumble-dryer. Unless you have a garden that no one can see in - then it's absolutely fine!

Salmotrutta · 02/02/2014 19:29

Well, you'd get a pinch mark anywhere wouldn't you?

I never peg my gussets on the line, they are tumble dried in this house! My dog once pinched a pair of my neighbours knickers (which were pegged by the gusset, hence possibly easier to pull of the line than if pegged by the waistband with two pegs) and my DH had to chase her round the garden to retrieve them (at least that is the story he told me Grin)

AngelDelightIsIndeedDelightful · 02/02/2014 19:31

The first Sunday after my new next door neighbours moved in I opened my landing blind to be confronted with a whole line of the skimpiest knickers I've ever seen. A sight I'd prefer not to have seen, particularly as I hadn't even met the woman at that point.

I think they were pegged by the side but I was too shocked to really pay attention

Salmotrutta · 02/02/2014 19:33

Grin at knicker-stealing dog!

How long did it take you to train him to do that Wink

Waistbands. There is no need for debate.

They do go in the middle of the whirlygig, not because I care whether anyone sees my knickers or not, but because the outer lines are a bit higher up, so the sheets and trousers and dresses have to go on the outer lines. Also, knickers and socks aren't likely to wrap themselves round the central pole as bigger clothing might, if it's a bit windy.

And if anyone's going to say that it doesn't matter which order you hang your washing up in is just Wrong. It is also Wrong to have mismatched pegs on a single item of clothing. (This is easily resolved by buying only one colour of pegs. Except I can't throw out the existing ones until they fall apart.)

CaffeinatedKitten · 02/02/2014 19:35

I use a peggy thing and shove them on any old way. That then gets hung on a handy bracket a previous tenant left screwed on the wall outside:o

gloriafloria · 02/02/2014 19:42

Always by the side/hip. Got to let the gusset sway freely. Saying that it must be 6 months since we've been able to dry anything outside so they just get flung over an indoor airer or radiator. Sorry pegging the gusset may be a tad odd Grin Just saying cos you did ask.

Salmotrutta · 02/02/2014 19:44

Oh I'm not offended.

I feel I'm doing a service for the nation by carrying out this straw poll.

These things are important.

hang from gusset - check
hang on inner lines so neighbours can't see and cos they are smaller lines - check
DH still hangs things wrongly without even shaking them out first to get rid of crease - check

TaurielTest · 02/02/2014 19:46

Highest bit dries first so makes sense to put the double thickness of fabric there ... but then, but directly under peg will not dry. Dilemma.

I dry mine from a socktopus one of these and peg by the side of waistband.

gloriafloria · 02/02/2014 19:58

Grin Grin Another only reason I don't peg by the gusset is because my line has loads of spiders webs and bird shite on it which I obviously wipe away. But I always think there's a chance stray bits get left that could get embedded in the fabric and who knows. Shuddering at the thought now.

Anniegetyourgun · 02/02/2014 20:08

You peg your underwear up outside? Hussies!

An indoor rack is the only decent option. (I have one over the bath but my mother used to have one in the kitchen, so you got drips down your neck whilst cooking. My mother's ways were not as other people's ways.)

ShakesBootyFlabWobbles · 02/02/2014 20:09

The word gusset makes me Grin Grin Grin
