And, and my mum told me you must hang in size order (admittedly this doesn't work with a whirly) on a traditional washing green.

So you start with big items then work down to the smaller ones.

And socks must be hung by the toes obviously.

I never used to hang my knickers outside as don't like the idea of other people seeing them, but do hang out everything else including all the boxer shorts ( all other occupants in our house are of the male variety). A friend pointed out that if anyone were to be taking an unlikely unhealthy interest in the contents of my washing line the obvious conclusion would be that I just don't wear any at all

YY to hanging socks by the toe, I hang socks in pairs, in descending length order, so when the line is propped they hang straight.
