I am trying to lose weight through Slimming World.

Took a break for a few weeks over Xmas, gained a bit. Started again back on plan, after first week I lost 2lb. Second week I lost 5.5lb.

This week, I put on 4.5lb Shock

I have stuck to plan - I had one day at the weekend where I wasn't 100% and prob went over my syns as had several glasses of wine, but other than that, on the other 6 days I was fine.

I am now almost afraid to eat. I have 2.5-3st to lose, I am terrified of being stuck going backwards and forwards at this weight forever :( Esp as I have no idea how I gained this week!

Water retention?

RhondaJean · 27/01/2014 19:36

Are you oremenstrual I can go up and down half a stone.

DaddyPigsMistress · 27/01/2014 19:36

I put on 4-5 Pounds during my period. Could it be that

LexieSinclair · 27/01/2014 19:37

I was going to suggest water retention. I usually gain around 5lb before my period and then it all comes off again.

VelvetSpoon · 27/01/2014 19:38

Period finished about 10 days ago, so not that.

I gain my pounds when I am ovulating (and then struggle to shift until my period starts), I am also on SW have noticed the pattern over the last 18 months of weekly weigh ins.

Can you look back in your book and see if there is a pattern to your weight loss.

Iamavapernow · 27/01/2014 19:48

Last time you got weighed you had just had a shit, this time you haven't had a shit for a day or two?

StrawberryMojito · 27/01/2014 19:48

It will most probably be hormonal/water retention. Don't get disheartened.

BikeRunSki · 27/01/2014 19:51

Poo
Water retention
Female hormones shenanigans
Different clothes

I lost regularly until November, then I got stuck in a spiral of a pound on and off, stopped for 3 weeks over xmas.

I have never gained this much in a week, and I can't see how. I was so pleased losing 5.5 last week, now I'm back to square one.

So if its water retention I'll lose it next week? Or put more on?

I can't face gaining another 4.5lb next week :(

VelvetSpoon · 27/01/2014 19:56

Other people lost normally. I was wearing similar clothes to last week.

I cannot get stuck at this weight, not losing anything (effectively). I am doing everything right, and gaining weight! How can that be?!

TheDetective · 27/01/2014 19:56

I had this on my 3rd week - I lost 4.5lb first week, 6lb second week. The next day I hopped on the scales at home (I weigh daily) to find I'd put 5lb on overnight! I nearly had a meltdown!

Anyway, long story short, over the next week, it came off, plus an extra 1.5lb by the time WI came around. I just stuck to plan, and each day a 1lb would be off roughly.

I blamed the dinner I had that night after I'd had WI - chicken stew! Too afraid to eat it again now Grin.

littlebluedog12 · 27/01/2014 19:57

I discovered recently my scales change by 2lbs depending which side of the bathroom floor they are on! I now only weigh myself on the 'lighter' side Grin

I've restarted WW (on propoints not new thing as I know propoints well) and have only lost 2lb in three weeks of being really careful to follow plan. I'm gutted as normally the first few weeks would drop a good 4-5lbs. I wondered if it was hormones for me as mine are all over the shop at the moment.

VelvetSpoon · 27/01/2014 20:03

A 1lb loss in a fortnight is pathetic, I can't be happy with that. My class is full of women (lighter than me) losing 2-3lb every week.

Did you weigh yourself at the same time in the same clothes?
Do you need a poo?
Have you been exercising more this week and maybe retaining water?
Have you ate more carbs this week?

Most likely you didn't have a big loss the first week and it was just water loss which has just settled down.

Continue to follow the plan and it should drop off. I know very little about SW but if you are eating a lot of carbs dropping them a bit can only help?

Countessfosco · 27/01/2014 20:14

I've been struggling as well, whilst sticking to plan. Stick with it, it should even out in the end. At least that is my plan for now.

SirRaymondClench · 27/01/2014 20:14

If you've eaten something salty the day before the scales will be up.

VelvetSpoon · 27/01/2014 20:14

I can't drop carbs much because I eat very little meat, without pasta, rice or potatoes I'd be basically living on salad.

Most people in my class hit target in a year. If I'm stuck losing half a pound a week, I won't even be close to target this time next year. I've already been doing it for 8 months.

I've often wondered how much a poo weighs. Would it make that much difference to weight?

hugoagogo · 27/01/2014 20:22

It's poo

Have a punnet of raspberries. Wink

Catrin · 27/01/2014 20:23

So reading your OP it implies your weigh in day is a Monday? So if you were over on Saturday night, it will still be in your system today. If you can, make Thursday your new Saturday and you may not see the syns on the scales so much by the Monday.
I did Slimming World and lost 3.5 stone over a year and a half. Best thing I ever did, even though I wondered if I would EVER get there. Everyone has rubbish weigh ins. Make sure you are drinking enough water though, especially if you are having a few wines.
