I'm nearing a significant and have a bit of a bucket list.
This is one thing that I'm considering.
Sourcing it shouldn't be a problem.
I've tried softer drugs in my midtwenties, but am now just got a yearning to give it a go in a very controlled environment. But and a little bit concerned about the aftermath.
AIBU to be thinking like this?

If you have children...then what a fucking stupid thing to do.

ballroomblitz · 21/01/2014 09:33

I can't believe the amount of people recommending MDMA Vampyre in light of the recent dodgy Es going around. I personally know a person who was at a party when a girl died after taking one.

Sorry but if you take drugs when you're a parent, you're nothing but pure selfish. Chances are you'll be ok but it's Russian roulette to leaving your child without a parent. I was no angel when I was younger but thank my lucky stars I walked away relatively unscathed and I say relatively as I had horrendous anxiety and panic attacks for a while.

melika · 21/01/2014 09:36

How about a glass of good wine?

BaileysOnRocks · 21/01/2014 09:44

And you are a mother?! What would you think if your child was saying this?

Weird. Grow up. Hmm

specialsubject · 21/01/2014 09:45

bit sad really if you think risky chemicals are fun.

druggies and drunks are so, so dull. There's so much life out there.

VampyreofTimeandMemory · 21/01/2014 09:46

i think drugs are for unhappy people. or at least people who aren't content.

teenmum3 · 21/01/2014 09:52

Words fail me.

Belize · 21/01/2014 10:18

Where's the OP gone Hmm?

EmpressOfTheWellOfLostPlots · 21/01/2014 10:24

I don't know where they've gone but there was another first time OP last night who started a thread about hash. Maybe they should compare notes.

TarteAuxRiz · 21/01/2014 10:46

Everyone I've ever known has been a twat on cocaine.

this. I tried most things as a teenager, coke was by far the most 'meh' experience of the lot. Personally I'd go for LSD or speed, but to be honest these days I wouldn't do those either...I was always a bit paranoid on any drug and having smoked a bit of weed as a 'grown up' it gets worse with age. I don't touch a thing now, I have a hell of a lot more to lose than I did then.

Beeyump · 21/01/2014 10:53

Do you need coke to get through the concert? Do you need coke to have a good time with your friends? It's so true, in my opinion, that drugs are taken by people who are discontent in some way.

bealos · 21/01/2014 10:53

I reckon thinking / talking about doing it will be more fun than actually doing it.

I've done 'stuff' in my time and if you've tried other things, you're not really missing out on a different, mind blowing experience. Celebrities only do it so they can talk louder, faster and not give a shit about their vacuous lives.

BUT, apart from that, the cocaine industry is pretty evil. There's no fair trade cocaine.

HomeIsWhereTheGinIs · 21/01/2014 10:55

Yanbu. And I get your point about a bucket list. Coke just makes you very lovely but it's fun at festivals!

TrinityRhino · 21/01/2014 10:55

YADBU

grow up

IsSpringSprangedYet · 21/01/2014 10:56

Glad this thread is how it should be now. I came on last night and couldn't believe everyone was saying go for it.

OP, YABU. There are other legal things you could put on your bucket list Hmm Can't see the point of taking the risk. And if you have kids, well the whole idea is cuntish.

Oh and the one experience I've had of someone on MDMA is that they turned into a complete arsehole.

PleaseJustLeaveYourBrotherAlon · 21/01/2014 10:58

tbf on the OP, I never did any drugs growing up and you feel like you missed out a bit. Especially as everyone has their "wild youth" stories now.. I wouldn't risk it though as I wouldn't risk havinng my kids taken away from me or doing anything remotely dangerous that could leave them with out a mother. BUt to me that counts, being on a motorcycle or joining the army or jumping out of an airplane which I bet loads of people do here all the time and no one judges them

Freyalright · 21/01/2014 11:00

It's hard to get good coke in UK. If you ever go to South America, try it then.

morethanpotatoprints · 21/01/2014 11:03

Its not what its "cracked" up to be. Grin

KatoPotato · 21/01/2014 11:04

Honestly? Taking it over the age of 21 is just tragic! - Under 21 I might excuse you and think you're daft and impressionable...

QueenThora · 21/01/2014 11:10

I took it once - only once. I was in my mid-20s and it was at a friends' house with a few people there, not a party exactly. I had one line. If I tell you what it was like it may help you!

First off, I snorted it as instructed and it went up my nose and a lot went down my throat which I didn't expect. It made me cough and then panic as my throat was numb and I couldn't feel my tongue, and this meant I couldn't swallow. I was told this was all normal.

Then the effects kicked in and I can best describe it as that tingly spine feeling you sometimes get (well I do) when reading a really good short story, or when you desperately fancy someone and they come close to you – like a rush of tingliness – but all over and going on for half an hour. That was v pleasurable but nothing I hadn't experienced before IYSWIM, it just went on longer.

I didn't talk loads though some other people did. I just felt quite excited and happy though with a slight edge of hysteria, like I might be about to cry. After half an hour it wore off - it this point other people had more lines, but I was OK with just trying it.

I also hadn't bargained for the after-effects. I was drinking too though not excessively. I had the WORST hangover-like experience of my life, it lasted three days and I felt absolutely terrible throughout. It was just before Christmas and I had to work because I had a massive deadline, otherwise I would have gone off sick. Dragging myself into work those 3 days was hell. It was 20 years ago now and I still clearly remember sitting at my desk ploughing through my work and thinking "please please let this end, this has got to end soon".

That put me off for life I can tell you!

Though I was never a druggy type, I experimented with a few things in my youth – generally when a friend offered me something – but I don't think I would now. I didn't have DC then and it was on my own head. Trying a drug you've never had before does carry a risk.

QueenThora · 21/01/2014 11:14

Oh I should add the friend who gave me coke did develop a serious coke addiction himself (though it didn't harm his high-profile career!). He has since beaten it but he had a tough time. However I don't think trying it as a one off would lead to a big risk of addiction. The aftermath is more of a worry.

Crowler · 21/01/2014 11:25

Coke is a bit silly. It makes you talk absolute nonsense. I think you'd find it an anti-climax.

FreudiansSlipper · 21/01/2014 11:30

response to those asking about how would you feel if you child tried drugs

well i do hope that he will not, i shall be honest in the dangers of drugs (no shall not be informing him of the good times i had while taking them) but that is all i can do i can not be sure he won't that would be foolish considering the very high rates of drugs taken in this country by teenagers and that many like to experiment. i would rather he is knowledgeable about drugs what the side effects are, the dangers and if he is going to take them how to take them as safely as he can the same goes for drinking. binge drinking is a far bigger problem with young adults than drugs are both need to addressed in a sensible way not just the horrors of what it can do as it does not work (if it did no one would smoke, drink or try drugs) and also drug/alcohol addiction is rarely (if ever) about the drug/drink itself but that is a different debate

Fudgeface123 · 21/01/2014 11:33

Am almost speechless at some of the posts on here. Stupid, stupid people

DuskAndShiver · 21/01/2014 11:39

I don't think you can get cruelty-free coke. If you want to have a druggy laugh for one night, I would get something that can be homegrown or home-synthesised, with a relatively short supply chain, in which everyone is doing it voluntarily and not getting too badly treated.
