I can buy a higher welfare chicken for less £ than a lower welfare turkey. And it will be lovely.

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 23/12/2013 21:16

Quatar is a place. Or a Plaice.

thornrose · 23/12/2013 21:28

mmmmtoffee, I've read your other thread, I'm so glad you're feeling excited Xmas Grin

PistletoeAndWhine · 23/12/2013 21:55

Then why did cod say she could play one? I am, at this precise moment, quaffing mulled ginger wine, and wrapping gross raw bacon around even more gross raw sausages...BOAK! Hate raw meat

PistletoeAndWhine · 23/12/2013 21:56

And is it a Naice Place Xmas Grin

LondonMother · 23/12/2013 22:00

Pun on guitar, Pistletoe. I think.

barbarianoftheuniverse · 23/12/2013 22:00

chicken here too, only three meat eaters, gammon joint tomorrow that will add to the Christmas dinner and then make lovely sandwiches. Shouldn't care if I never saw another turkey. If I ever get a Christmas to myself I will have bread and cheese and apples.

PistletoeAndWhine · 23/12/2013 22:06

Ooh dream Christmas lunch barbarino? Hmmm...prawn vindaloo for main, George Clooney for desert.

barbarianoftheuniverse · 23/12/2013 22:14

I forgot pudding, Pistle. Bread, cheese and apples, no children nearer than the next county and Colin Firth for pudding. To be exact.

barbarianoftheuniverse · 23/12/2013 22:16

And why are you doing that to the sausages NOW? Have I lost a day?

PistletoeAndWhine · 23/12/2013 22:17

Colin Firth . Would you guys think I was weird if I dreamed Lorraine Kelly for starters??

barbarianoftheuniverse · 23/12/2013 22:23

Don't drool on the pudding and why not Lorraine Kelly? Much prettier than my starters (SIL's head-on-a-platter).

PistletoeAndWhine · 23/12/2013 22:29

Xmas Grin I think it's the accent! SIL surrounded by pigs in blankets? Or,stuffed?

PistletoeAndWhine · 23/12/2013 22:34

Still would LOVE to know what went on a few posts back...all those deleted posts? It can't have been much worse than my comment about the "theme"...[intrigued/nosey emoticon]. Came back onto my phone and deleteaggedon had occured!

barbarianoftheuniverse · 23/12/2013 22:38

Just a light garnish and then flung out of the window very quickly so as not to disturb the pudding.

PistletoeAndWhine · 23/12/2013 22:45

barb after I had posted that comment about your SIL it occured to me 'maybe barb meant that her SIL was PREPARING Head,On A Platter as a contrinution to the meal...in which case Xmas Blush

PistletoeAndWhine · 23/12/2013 22:46

*contribution grrr phone xx

pinkoneblueone · 23/12/2013 22:48

We ALWAYS have chicken! Its always fab :)

barbarianoftheuniverse · 23/12/2013 22:48

No, no, you were right first time.
I am also intrigued by the deleted messages.

PistletoeAndWhine · 23/12/2013 22:57

It was mostly qatar-playing Cod..She reported somebody. The plot thickens...

PistletoeAndWhine · 23/12/2013 23:02

Cod? Cooood?

SantasSprouts · 23/12/2013 23:25

I cooked turkey for years then realised I wasn't all that keen. It wasn't dry even though I am not an outstanding cook but even so, chicken is far more delicious. Turkey for me doesn't have the lip smacking edge. I have also cooked duck which was lovely but always end up buying chicken for xmas day and making different stuffings to try. Doing lemon, bacon or pancetta ,mascarpone, rosemary and thyme under the skin this year. We keep going back to this one as its so tasty and makes the kitchen smell very good. A cheaper chicken tastes like a costly one with this stuffing which is itself cheap to make and smells festive. I found a similar veggie stuffing to add to a veggie main and the chicken-eaters scoffed the veggie stuffing too Xmas Grin what on earth did people get deleted for on a chicken thread??? I missed it.

StarsUponThars · 23/12/2013 23:42

I didn't think that this thread would turn into a bun fight Grin.

Wm Low's used to sell turkey drumsticks for about 70p. They were bloody massive and would do a bit of damage if you lobbed one!
