I think he's quite a benign figure. He doesn't swear apart from in the early videos, he does things that he knows kids will laugh at - I mean, he consciously sets out to entertain them - and he gives them loads of ideas for their own minecraft pursuits which, given that minecraft is actually quite a creative game, is a good thing. There are much worse people around that kids could be looking up to, and I think it's quite sweet that he's found a way of getting paid for doing what he loves.

he seems quite harmless. My 3 are addicted to him - they wait for the next video to be uploaded. Unfortunately we don't have 3 sets of headphones so i have to listen to his dulcet tones every day! (luckily we ban computers from 9-4 at the weekend so I don't have him all day).

some of the other mine craft people swear much more.

I don't quite understand what the love garden is though. Hmm apart from the fact my dcs want to be in it.

Like some PP, mine are obsessed with DiamondMinecart. I know more about Dan than I do about my own husband (or so it feels!) - his videos are clean though, so don't mind too much.

Oh he swears alright. He used the F-word in 'Stampy's Lovely World - Highlights' just after 4 minutes in "a f***g creeper'

Whilst I hate Minecraft, almost as much as Lego, at least you can't stand on bits of Minecraft (& I've yet to send an iPad up the Hoover....).

DD no longer listens to Stampy but instead is now obsessed by the monotonous drone of American girls teaching her how to make cute pets our of loom bands. Not sure what is worse!!

I have an 8 year old DS who is minecraft mad too and spend many hours a week listening to either Stampy or Squiddy!
Infact we got a new kitten last week and he has been named Stampy by the kids Hmm not sure if its an improvement on the hamsters Harry and Potter or not Grin

YES to having Stampy in for a MN webchat!

My dd is watching stampy right now.

I find it harmless. He is a young guy making money by playing a computer game. He should be applauded.

His laugh is irritating but we've grown to like him here!
I think he's on the new series of Dick & Dom's Absolute Genius btw, I follow them on Twitter and they mentioned doing some filming with him. Smile

Some concerns over stampylongnose youtube minecraft videos. As a parent of and 8 year old its so difficult not to feel paranoid when my young child goes on the internet. However I recently stopped her access to stampylongnoses site. This was after listening to him talk to children about coming into his 'love garden' and also a mention of a 'porksword' amongst other innuendos that I don't feel are meant for innocent ears. My gut instinct is saying something is not right about a grown man attracting young children through the medium of an addictive game like minecraft. I also don't know who this guy is how old he is and whether he is just an innocent man-child or something more sinister. Maybe if I met him face to face my fears would be allayed? I would say to all parents maybe have a listen to his videos (and try not to go crazy) especially his rhymes about his characters like Mr pork chop and judge for yourself. My decision however, after already doing this is to simply block access to his site in our home.

He does it for the money. Professional you tubers earn lots of money from you tube selling the ad space before each video and they get a cut. The more subscribers and more views the more money they get. I know some FIFA 15 gamer you tubers and it's pretty much the same thing. It's something like a $1 for every 10000 views, which is a lot of money when you do a video a day which each gets millions of views.

We love him anyway. Grin

I don't mind stampy as long as I don't have to hear him!

Just wish there was a way of watching gaming videos, not just stampy somewhere other than YouTube. I always feel he's 2 clicks away from something inappropriate

Bear in mind that in older youtube videos Stampy DOES swear. A lot. He then caught on to the fact that his audience was aged about 7 and stopped . But I've twice heard 'fuck' coming from my 8 year olds ipad when he's watching Stampy. And leapt on said ipad immediately!

Hatzran -

Pigs are a big thing on Minecraft. There are lots of references to pugs, pork & porkchops. Pigs are cute & desirable to have in your Minecraft world.

Stampy is now a public persona, he has been interviewed on TV on many occasions & regularly attends large public gaming events.

Get Google account set up for child I know it's not strictly allowed but here's why - if they have a Google account you can see what they have watched on youtube, you can lock the Family safe settig in youtube (don't tell'em the Google account password), you can even subscribe them to channels you do like ( Dangermouse a fave here) and put a watch list for them. You can see everything they watch on whatever devices they use it on. I'd rather that than have him on my youtube as it gets mixed up with my watching and work research watching etc.

I will dig up a blog link later explaining it because I find it really useful with DS. I also have his laptop properly set up with Microsoft Family safety settings so I can control how long he uses it, and also have curfews set up (eg: not before 8am).

If he wants extra I have to sign In and give permission.

I have reluctantly let him watch Diamond Minecart but I don't trust him as much as Stampy.

Stampy seems nice in real life and his girlfriend is on se of his videos now too (she's a youtuber independently too I think)
