Everyone seems so young on here these days.

Maybe it's time I shuffled off to Gransnet.

an Edinburgh woolen mill jumper with a Bon Marche skirt

Alexa Chung will be wearing that soon, mark my words.

higgle · 10/12/2013 16:41

I feel like the OP when I'm sitting at home wearing something that is the subject of a thread in S & B where some woman who is 25 years younger than me is asking if she is too old to wear it.

PacificDogwood · 10/12/2013 16:42

I attended a CPR course where the trainer stated that Werther's are marketed exactly at the two age-groups most at riks of choking: children and older people. They are the perfect shape and slipperiness to go down the wrong way, too.

So you can keep them, usual, I am as risk, I telly's Grin

usualsuspect · 10/12/2013 16:46

God yes,S&B.

'Am I too old to wear skinny jeans'?asks a 30 year old.

Well no, I'm still wearing them and I'm 54,I still have long hair too Grin

So stick that up your bootcuts.

Pft, i may only be 27 for another fortnight but my body definitely belongs in the knackers yard, with all you OAPs Xmas Wink

usualsuspect · 10/12/2013 16:47

Maybe I should stick to wine gums.

I love my boot cuts to S&B can just get stuffed, thank you very much!

MrsDV, I am both older than you and my youngest child is younger than yours (I think) so I must be more selfish and even more discusting. You're ok.

JugglingUnwiselyWithBaubles · 10/12/2013 16:52

Hey usual hope you've been persuaded to stay - I tried Gransnet but it had just started and was a bit quiet compared to this crazy place

And I'm not a Gran yet either. In fact DS has just started in Y7 the reception class at secondary school so I've got years in me yet - you lucky people Xmas Grin

haveyouflossed · 10/12/2013 17:04

Usual, David and Donny camps in my school too! Never got the Donny thing - all those teeth. Bit like this really Grin

cuttingpicassostoenails · 10/12/2013 17:04

I am old enough to have been madly in love with Andy the sergeant in Dixon of Dock Green...also also Brian Blessed in Z Cars. Always had a yen for men in uniform.

Harry Styles just doesn't cut it!

JugglingUnwiselyWithBaubles · 10/12/2013 17:19

Oh -I see havey may be a bit of a new NN for you Grin - hope you like it?!

GodRestTEEMerryGenTEEmen · 10/12/2013 17:19

What does it mean if I've never, from the beginning of my life (or at least dressing myself) cared if I was too old/too young/too fat/too something for an item of clothing?

That I've always been old?

Probably.

SatinSandals · 10/12/2013 17:26

I love the fact that there are all ages on here , from all backgrounds and includes those without children. I am here because I haven't found an alternative that is as good.

KatieScarlett2833 · 10/12/2013 17:27

Another one who feels the best I've ever felt about myself, now, age 44.
In my 20s and 30s I was a stressed out spotty mare.
Now I'm so fabulous it's either my age or early onset dementia. Either way I don't give a toss Grin

GodRestTEEMerryGenTEEmen · 10/12/2013 17:29

Oh definitely Katie.

Life totally began at 40 for me.

noddyholder · 10/12/2013 17:31

Blimey I am ancient and would never go to gransnet don't like the sound of that

LineRunner · 10/12/2013 17:53

preciousbane Manolito played by Henry Darrow. And I didn't even have to look that up. Which is a bit bloody scary.

sconerhymes I am jealous of your Starsky-crossed life!

KatieScarlett2833 · 10/12/2013 17:53

If I really think about it;
As a teenager I was insecure, anxious and unhappy.
In my 20s I was knackered and stressed out trying to have it all while juggling babies and work.
In my 30s I was knackered, stressed out and miserable trying to keep up with the kids school work, after school activities and bloody sodding play dates. And work.
My 40s have been a revelation. Kids mostly self sufficient, more free cash, lots of time to do what I like and I feel and look far better for it.
Roll on my 50s and bring on the grandchildren!

alcibiades · 10/12/2013 17:59

I am "Will-you-still-love-me" years old. I have tried Gransnet, but they're just too, well, sensible; and they don't swear. Where's the fun in that?

Salmotrutta · 10/12/2013 18:07

Never mind The High Chapparal!

Who remembers The Virginian.

Poor sod never did have a name.

His best mate was Trampas Hmm played by Doug McLure - but I can't remember who played The Virginian! Confused

drudgetrudy · 10/12/2013 18:12

Been on Gransnet. It's Ok but this is wittier and faster paced- also irreverent which I like. I read the" awful parent" threads to see what not to do. Shocked though when posters talk about people in their 60s as if they are poor old folks who will be so distressed to be left alone. Keep thinking ffs what is the matter with these people? Can understand it a bit if they have a REALLY bad illness. Being retired great- not boring, but us oldies do remember what it was like holding down a full-time job and caring for kids + the dreaded housework. Hope all ages are welcome on here

GodRestTEEMerryGenTEEmen · 10/12/2013 18:14

Well, my son is a long way from self sufficient and I'm broker than I've ever been...but I'm also happier than I've ever been!
